The troubling part is that when a thumbnail like this is encountered, it
seems to invalidate all of the other thumbnails that have already been
loaded. For example, open the Photos tab of the gallery app and wait for
the thumbnails to load, scroll up and down. Everything gets loaded. Then

Hello Phillip and everyone else,
ubuntu failed to update the efi boot catlog to point to grub.
I checked on the Toshiba Satellite NB10-A-10N during my testing and
after the installation was done when I ran `efibootmgr -v` the typical
all lowercase ubuntu entry was in the output. When I restored
Ugh I had a manually installed python3.4 in /usr/local/bin which I
forgot about... sorry!
