Not sure if this will help but the start of my /etc/default/grub looks

Just rebooted with a screen on it and it reboot with out touching the

The current gputils package on ubuntu (the GNU PIC compilation utilities
for the microchip PIC embedded microprocessor series) is very out of
date on the current version of Ubuntu. The ubuntu version is 0.13.7
from March 2009 while the current version is 1.3.0 from May 2014.
Here's a fork of my repo which was done by poupougnac and he claims that
it removes the syslog outputs and prevent overload and hang... I haven't
tested it yet but think worth a try

and xset s 100 dpms 10 0 120. Session locks after 20s.

default, so it's not entirely unlikely that this will trigger
(unexpected and - at least via GUI - uncontrollable) timed locking.
Removing the ability to control the blank time means we'd have to

Turning off animation conserves large amounts of memory, but after
opening about 50 (can't remember the exact figure) windows on a
3200x1200 dual head machine (which is not uncommon for me given my work
pattern) on a 320MB video card the problem still comes back for me. As
