Hello! I found the original bug and proposed the original patch to the
kernel SCSI guys. Here's some context:
The SCSI flush command was being treated by a zero-byte write, which
means that if an error was returned, you wouldn't catch it until a
subsequent write (or flush). The way writes work is
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Lenovo T61 laptop
I tried creating custom shortcut keys for the ThinkVantage button and FN
= F3 combo. I had not problem creating the shortcuts but nothing happens
when I use the shortcuts. I have double-checked to make sure that the
command for each shortcut is correct. Now
This was reported when local menus were freshly introduced. I cannot
reproduce it anymore (Ubuntu 14.10).

Actually, I hadn't really tested it as I forgot I was using nomodeset
as a workaround. I've now tested it for real. I was able to just update
xserver-xorg-core and xserver-common. Fix confirmed.
