I am also having this problem with fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 and
network-manager-openvpn
It works if I wait til wifi is connected before logging in. If login too
soon then clicking the network-manger-applet tab has no effect. In that
case the only way is to log out then login again.

that setting max number of opened files to 4096 could help, so I tried
that. Unity no longer started after reboot, so I removed the setting of
max opened files, but Unity still does not start.

on nvidia site i read this video card needs at least 337 driver

It should be noted that the link above my comment that claims that it's
stable download, it's not stable, and 2.5 has lots of UI issues on
Ubuntu which have not been addressed (as of my last testing) so be
prepared if you plan to use 2.5.

I am using ubuntu 14.10 on dell inspiron 5447. When I am scrolling on
google chrome, firefox or any other program, touchpad auto click press.
I am hoping and waiting new update to fix this error.

Does not only affect Ubuntu. I'm on Fedora 21 with KDE 4.14.3 and have
the same strace output when opening the first tab in systemsettings -
touchpad - touchpad (mouse click emulation page). 100% is rasing up to
100% and I can only kill it from the command line.
