Re: [Bug 1415400] Re: Upgrade to Festival 2.4
Hi, I have been helping to package Festival and Speech tools in Debian for a while so I may be able to help here too :-). Some patches will be dropped as they have been merged upstream (speech tools documentation improvements for instance) and others will need some adaptation. Also some voices' packages (festvox-*) may need testing/changes, because festival-2.4 includes a newer version of the HTS engine that breaks (again, sigh) backward compatibility. Many people use HTS voices and fetch them from Internet as they are not packaged yet [1]. It is not as straightforward as I'd like to. I can prepare a package but some reverse dependencies will need testing. [Bug 1415785] [NEW] Please remove all ltsp* blacklisting
Public bug reported: Please remove all references to the ltsp-client, ltsp-client-core, ltspfs, and ltspfsd packages from the update-manager sources, as update- manager currently removes those packages on dist-upgrades. Please also SRU this to 12.04 and 14.04, I've seen dozens of LTSP installations break because of this. Rationale: Historically, the ltsp-client package had a preinst check that aborted its installation in normal systems (by checking for an /etc/ltsp_chroot file). If someone managed to install it outside of an LTSP chroot, then dist-upgrades were broken there, and a workaround was introduced in update-manager 1:0.60 gutsy Tue, 24 Apr 2007 16:39:26 +0200. This is mentioned in the update-manager changelog and in LP #109638. But, since Ubuntu Precise, ltsp-client no longer has these restrictions (I'm an upstream LTSP developer) and it's even useful to have it installed in normal LTSP servers (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/ltsp-pnp for more info). Now the opposite problem arises: when there's need for `update-manager -dist-upgrade`, update-manager removes at least ltsp-client and ltspfsd, breaking LTSP installations. See the attached update-manager screenshot. Actual use case: a teacher is prompted for a normal update, where some packages need to be updated, and additionally some unrelated package is now obsolete and needs to be removed. In that case, update-manager starts a dist-upgrade (not to be confused with a release upgrade, it's normal maintenance, not e.g. upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04) and removes ltsp-client and ltspfsd. The LTSP server stops working and the teacher doesn't know why, he never even pressed the expand button in the update dialog to see that those packages were uninstalled. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1415785 Title: Please remove all ltsp* blacklisting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1415785/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1415510] Re: Frequent kernel panics when doing heavy I/O in LXC containers on Btrfs
Hi Joseph, thanks for your quick reply. The problems began some time after I started using LXC with Btrfs on Trusty, but I'm not sure if a particular kernel update introduced a regression. I've been using Btrfs on my home directory previously as well, but did not experience similar I/O-related crashes. I'll try using the latest upstream kernel and report back. The problem is that these crashes happen randomly, I have not yet been able to reproduce them reliably (and since this always brings down my entire work environment, I'm not too excited about these crashes, as you can probably imagine). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1415510 Title: Frequent kernel panics when doing heavy I/O in LXC containers on Btrfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1415510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1415067] Re: qtiplot did not start
I found the source of the problem. It is in the scripting language option. [Bug 1103593] Re: Unity always shows all devices in launcher when CD is inserted
Unfortunately setting blacklist to ['-'] in com.canonical.Unity.Devices does not work for USB drives, pendrives, partitions, etc. They are not removed from launchbar. I used dconf editor to watch the blacklist: it forgets gathered uuids right after disconnecting external device, so they appear again and again. I found following workaround: there is com.canonical.Unity.Launcher.favorites parameter, the same Matpen tried to remove value 'unity://devices' from. It is enough to move 'unity://devices' to the end. The auto-USB-device icons - 3,5,10, whatever number is - still appear but at end of launchbar, so they do not disturb other icons. It is possible icons of new applications, not pinned to launchbar, can still be added after USB icons, so ensure 'unity://running-apps' and any other value occurs before 'unity://devices'. Unity remembers order of the values, after system reboot too. If developers find a time to deal with this problem: IMHO the best solution is ONE icon, one icon to rule them all... Depending on user choice it may be pinned to launchbar or appear automatically after mounting first resource at /media/user. Hovering cursor or clicking it should expand list of all mounted devices to the right to allow to browse selected one (if more than one). A number of connected media on the icon would be a nice addition. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103593 Title: Unity always shows all devices in launcher when CD is inserted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1103593/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
