I have seen the same issue in mako, with vivid-proposed. After boot,
first time system settings is executed I see 2G set in Cellular page.
Second time, I see the correct value (3G/2G).
Only difference being that there was no 4G tech in this case.

Timo, I think you misunderstood Celian's description. He isn't using 3rd
party drivers. He's using Ubuntu 14.10 native drivers just as almost
everybody else in here. He just pointed out that some foruns advised to
use Intel's drivers but those are older than the driver in Ubuntu 14.10.

I updated the bios to F7 and no change. It is also may be important to
not i was getting the same error with my hard drives as well. Switching
the AHCI mode fixed it but now for whatever reason every time i boot i
have to press S to skip mounting a drive. It didn't do this before
switching to AHCI

Hello Geoffrey, or anyone else affected,
Accepted samba into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.1.6+dfsg-
1ubuntu2.14.04.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this new package.
It seems the main problem here is that this command in the setup script
fails now in current vivid:
echo DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=\$(initctl --user get-env
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS)
gives
initctl: Unknown job: rc
It seems something in upstart changed recently that now causes a new env

The PPA you linked has a compiz package with a version number less than
the one on my system.
I used backportpackage to get the vivid version into a personal PPA for
my utopic system and installed that. The issue persists. Here is my new
apt-cache policy compiz:

I am 100% sure that Windows was installed in EFI mode, but it doesn't
matter anymore. I chose to go with dual boot which I got working. Thanks
