[Bug 1440275] Re: Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ
@Tim, I noticed a similar problem at Ask Ubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/616688 So I had a look, and I think the problem lies in two Ubuntu patches, so it hasn't likely been fixed upstream. * gnome-desktop3, ubuntu_language.patch * gnome-control-center, 52_region_language.patch ubuntu_language.patch adds the collect_locales_from_ubuntu() function to gnome-languages.c. collect_locales_from_ubuntu() is called from collect_locales() and populates the hash table gnome_available_locales_map via the add_locale() function. Since the function cc_common_language_get_initial_regions() in gnome- control-center calls gnome_get_all_locales() in gnome-languages.c, which in turn uses the gnome_available_locales_map hash table, it incorrectly grabs the list of languages. Originally (in 3.6) the call for /usr/share/language-tools/language- options happened directly in the function which populated the list of available languages. To achieve something similar, this could be done: - Drop the addition of collect_locales_from_ubuntu() and the changes to collect_locales() from ubuntu_language.patch - Let cc_common_language_add_user_languages() call /usr/share/language-tools/language-options directly somehow (via 52_region_language.patch) Another approach might be to replace the use of gnome_get_all_locales() in cc_common_language_get_initial_regions() with a 'locale -a' list. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Project changed: ubuntu-gnome = gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Milestone: vivid = None ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440275 Title: Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1440275/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1452163] [NEW] Cannot create folders in list mode if it is longer than the screen
Public bug reported: This is really just annoying. It does not really impair anything, a very easy workaround is to temporarily switch to grid view and right-click on an empty spot between the grid cells. Then you can make a new file/folder. If the title didn't make sense, here's a more detailed explaination: When viewing a lengthy folder in Nautilus, such as your Documents folder or your home directory, and you are in list view, the list of files in the folders is likely longer than your screen, so you need to scroll. Not a problem, right? Definitely not, but there's one thing: you can't create new files or folders when this is true. Because normally, when the list is not longer than the screen can display at once, there's (a lot of) empty space for you to right-click and create new things. But when there's not, you can't do that, because there's no empty space. My suggested fix would to add a button to create new files or folders on the menu when you right click a file/folder, and not just empty space. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. My nautilus version is 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.7, which seems to be the latest, or at least for my OS version. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452163 Title: Cannot create folders in list mode if it is longer than the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1452163/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1451855] Re: Debugging a XWindows code (gdb) terminal looses keyboard focus
Dear Sirs If I had more information I had supplied. the facts are: I must use Open Motif widgets together with Xt and Xlib. In the near past it was possible (can't say which update caused it) The focus loosing in popup callbacks was total (keyboard and mouse) I had to switch off the computer to restart Currently I get the correct output of reaching breakpoint from gdb but can't type anything. The mouse is working, from the visual point of view, for selecting terminal window. At this point, I can only close the terminal with the close button supplied by window manager. I don't think that the cause is from gdb ( may be X11 sync ?) [Bug 1325801] Re: failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot:
@sudodus, thanks for the test. So the new case is burn iso for arch A on a arch B host, where A, B can be i386 or amd64, and A != B. For this case I think there could be several different solution: a) do not attempt to install the target syslinux if host arch != target arch. this will only prevent the popup error, however the generated usbstick will still not work b) attempt to install the target syslinux in a chroot environment. this will work when burning an i386 image on an amd64 host, but still won't work when burning an amd64 image on an i386 host. c) similar to method b), but also put the qemu-ARCH-static binary in the chroot so it will also work when burning an amd64 image on i386 host. personally I have tested solution b) in my side (amd64, 15.04) with below target ISO images: * ubuntu-13.10-desktop-amd64.iso, ubuntu-14.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso, ubuntu-14.04.2-desktop-i386.iso, ubuntu-14.10-desktop-amd64.iso, ubuntu-15.04-desktop-amd64.iso: no error during burning, can boot into the syslinux with the usbstick successfully * ubuntu-14.04.2-server-amd64.iso, xubuntu-14.10-desktop-amd64.iso: no error during burning, can't boot into the syslinux since there is no syslinux pre-installed in the squashfs * debian-7.7.0-amd64-netinst.iso: no error during burning, can't boot into the syslinux since there is no squashfs at all so the behavior are all as expected. [Bug 1452204] [NEW] evdev device for retro-bit NES controller adapter isn't set up as a joystick
Public bug reported: Games which rely on SDL2 (and tools like antimicro) can't see the retro- bit NES controller adapter by default because SDL2 has dropped support for the old /dev/input/jsX API and udev lacks a rule to permission the /dev/input/eventX node appropriately and set the ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK flag. The following rule (or equivalent) needs to be added to the system- provided udev rules. SUBSYSTEM==input, ATTRS{name}==INNEX NES Controller USB, MODE=0666, ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}=1 I come to this conclusion because: 1. Until the mode is changed, feeding evtest with an explicit input device number results in a permissions error. 2. Globally allowing users to read joystick input poses no security risk and the data is already mirrored via /dev/input/jsX which is 0666 already. 3. Once the mode is changed, sdl2-jstest and antimicro still cannot see it. 4. Once ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK=1 is set, sdl2-jstest and antimicro work just as well as sdl-jstest and jstest-gtk, which use the old API. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1311316 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311316 This is still present in 15.04. i.e. the password dialogue box is present on the lock screen but keyboard input results in no dots appearing. It is not just a case of no dots being displayed because typing the full password and pressing return has no effect. This is listed as a possible duplicate of bug #1311316 but this may not be the case as that bug seems concerned with the lack of password box being displayed and maybe dual monitors. Public bug reported: The supplied ringtones are pretty, but not suitable for use in a professional environment. [Bug 1444402] Re: While sbuilding in LXC, systemd loops attempting to umount the underlay
In my local container, http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=f62009410 (which was the fix in the above PPA) helps already. However, it doesn't in the cloud instance: The main difference there is that in that cloud instance udev is running while in my local container it isn't (it's not usually meant to run in LXC). Adding these options in the container starts udev and reproduces this issue again: lxc.mount.auto = sys:rw cgroup lxc.mount.entry = /etc/schroot /srv/lxc/test/rootfs/etc/schroot none bind 0 0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102 Title: While sbuilding in LXC, systemd loops attempting to umount the underlay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/102/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As I understand, evdev is used instead of synaptics. Why not use default 3.19 kernel with a driver? On the other hand, including a customized preseed file in a setup CD will allow for more automation, but requires re-mastering of the CD. The configuration of domain and host name, and keymap are still being asked, even if you have them in your preseed file as shown above. So if you want to kickstart the preseeded installation without a single questions asked, append the following more options to kernel boot prompt: console-keymaps-at/keymap=us hostname=myhost domain=example.com locale=en_US Perhaps David Heller can throw some light on this and let us know if its bug. == Comment: #2 - Edward R. Cheslek eches...@us.ibm.com - 2015-04-29 07:57:29 == I'm booting and installing from the network. Even if I leave the hostname related options out of my preseed, it still picks up and displays the correct hostname from dhcp. == Comment: #3 - David Heller helle...@us.ibm.com - 2015-05-05 14:12:52 == I'm not very familiar with this particular preseed option so I'm not sure how it's supposed to behave. However, in a quick test on Ubuntu 15.04, adding netcfg/hostname=blah to the kernel cmdline worked: it successfully overrode the hostname from DHCP (the way it is usually set in my environment) with no other changes required. In the preseed however, I could not make it work, even if I commented out the related lines: #d-i netcfg/get_hostname string unassigned-hostname #d-i netcfg/get_domain string unassigned-domain d-i netcfg/hostname string blah And looking in the installer log, it could be a order of operations thing, since we see it picking up the hostname from DHCP before retrieving the preseed... # cat /var/log/syslog | egrep hostname|seed May 5 16:10:16 netcfg[2270]: INFO: DHCP hostname: myhost May 5 16:10:16 netcfg[2270]: DEBUG: Preseeding domain from global: ibm.com May 5 16:10:16 main-menu[301]: INFO: Menu item 'network-preseed' selected May 5 16:10:18 preseed: successfully loaded preseed file from ftp://9.114.211.201/install/autoinst/myhost That said: this doesn't tell exactly when the hostname was *set*, or if it should be overridden even if it is set at that point. IMHO it should work the same way in the preseed as it does command-line, regardless of order, since that is what the user is requesting. If the installer already set the hostname from DHCP info, well, it should set it again with what the user wants. But I don't know if this is supported or expected to work in all cases. Frankly, I'm not even sure if this is the correct way to do it in preseed (although it seems like it is). But I think it's fair to mirror this to Ubuntu to ask. == Comment: #5 - Edward R. Cheslek eches...@us.ibm.com - 2015-05-05 16:21:35 == I can set the hostname on the linux kernel line in grub, and it will show up correctly in the installer, but my issue is that the install still asks me to confirm that the hostname is correct. [Bug 1445543] Re: GTK apps on Mir: Input focus is unreliable and sporadic. Background windows ignore input and/or focus switches apparently randomly.
It's possible this is not an input or focus issue at all. I just got hit by this as well. The bug also triggered an Apport dialog, which (IMHO erroneously) pointed to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software- properties/+bug/1167314. [Bug 1452193] [NEW] Backends can't look at FINAL_CONTENT_TYPE to determine MIME type of job
Public bug reported: We have a custom cups backend (thinlocal) that looks at FINAL_CONTENT_TYPE to find out whether the submitted job is application/pdf and if so, take special actions. The PPD for this backend accepts PDF:s directly through this line: *cupsFilter: application/pdf 0 - However, FINAL_CONTENT_TYPE is always set to printer/thinlocal, so the backend can't possibly determine the input format by looking at the FINAL_CONTENT_TYPE.
