[Bug 1459055] [NEW] nvidia-331-uvm 331.113-0ubuntu0.0.4: nvidia-331-uvm kernel module failed to build
Public bug reported: Hello, The nvidia-331 kernel module couldn't build during upgrading from kernel 3.13 to 4.0.4. The error messages pop up during the installation of the dpkg of the .deb files for kernel 4.0.4. Actually there are error messages for all the proprietary packages, i.e. nvidia-331 and bcmwl 6.30.223.141 (the installation is looking for 6.30.223.248 which I do not use - I file a separate bug report for that one). I have tried to prevent those complications by priorly installing the build-essential package, but it did not help. Would it change something if I was unselecting the two proprietary packages from the Software admin prior to installing the new kernel, and then reinstalling after rebooting under the new kernel ? Meanwhile, I'll see if I am more lucky with another kernel, like 3.18 for my upgrade. [Bug 1447788] Re: Bcmwl-kernel-source doesn't compile against 4.0
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1424676 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424676 Hello, The bcmwl 6.30.223.141 kernel module couldn't build during upgrading from kernel 3.13 to 4.0.4. (the installation is looking for 6.30.223.248 which I do not use). The error messages pop up during the installation of the dpkg of the .deb files for kernel 4.0.4. Actually there are error messages for all the proprietary packages, i.e. the bc43xx STA 6.30.223.14 driver and the driver for nvidia-331 (I file a separate bug report for that one). I have tried to prevent those complications by priorly installing the build-essential package, but it did not help. Would it change something if I was unselecting the two proprietary packages from the Software admin prior to installing the new kernel, and then reinstalling after rebooting under the new kernel ? Meanwhile, what would be the most recent stable linux kernel allowing to keep my proprietary modules ? Thank you ! ** Attachment added: /var/lib/dkms/bcmwl/6.30.223.248+bdcom/build/make.log for more information. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1447788/+attachment/4405095/+files/make.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447788 Title: Bcmwl-kernel-source doesn't compile against 4.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1447788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1459058] [NEW] ELANtech touchpad simply will not work, no matter what I do.
Public bug reported: You can read more about it here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/628659/elantech-touchpad-completely-unresponsive-ubuntu-14-15?noredirect=1#comment893622_628659 I'm not fully sure of the nature of my problem, but was recommended to come here with this concern. I have a feeling that the issue is that generic Ubuntu drivers do not provide full support for all ELANtech touchpads. In searching various forums for help, it seemed to me as though system76.com may have previously offered drivers that were capable of fixing some slightly older ELANtech touchpads, but I do not think these can still be downloaded. Furthermore, I think they may have only fixed laptops just slightly older than mine. The package I am using is most likely xserver-xorg-input-synaptics. I expected the cursor to move when I touched the touchpad, but instead, nothing happens. I have successfully been able to use a USB mouse, but it is a bit inconvenient to try and use everywhere, since I am a college student and all of our desks are ridiculously small. [Bug 1459079] [NEW] Background image fails to load on lightdm-gtk-greeter
Public bug reported: After my system boots, the lightdm-gtk-greeter fails to load the wallpaper, instead leaving a 'white' screen. ALL other aspects load (icons, indicators, clock, login box) show, but the background does not. After logging in, the lightdm-gtk-greeter wallpaper then is displayed and then replaced with my own personal wallpaper. When I log out of my system, lightdm-gtk-greeter shows the default wallpaper and everything is as it should be until I reboot and once again find the 'white' background. Additionally, I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad W510 (4319-2PU) with a built- in Nvidia Quadro FX 880M, but using the stock nouveau driver provided. [Bug 1439562] Re: backport request: include support for OpenPower hardware
Hi Chris, Thanks for taking this on for a utopic backport. Instead of using that ubuntu/utopic branch in the openpower tree, I'd suggest using the upstream commits that we have listed in this bug (and Tim has applied); that way, you'll be getting the latest changes, and have less merging to do later. We also have some patches that are on their way upstream (mentioned above, making their way to vivid as a SRU). [Bug 1459062] [NEW] duplicity incorrectly thinks backups are uploaded with --asynchronous-upload and gdocs
Public bug reported: When duplicity is used to back up to Google Drive with the gdocs:// URL scheme and --asynchronous-upload, duplicity reports that the backups were uploaded correctly even with the internet connection disconnected. The gdocs backend should instead report back, telling duplicity that the upload has failed and stopping the backup as this can lead to incomplete backup chains when the internet connection is later reconnected. root@polaris:~# lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 15.04 Release:15.04 root@polaris:~# apt-cache policy duplicity duplicity: Installed: 0.7.01-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.7.01-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.7.01-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status root@polaris:~# duply dir backup duplicity 0.7.01 (January 11, 2015) Args: /usr/bin/duplicity --archive-dir /tmp/.duply/cache --name duply_dir --encrypt-key 01234567 --sign-key 01234567 --verbosity 5 --exclude-if-present .duplicity-ignore --full-if-older-than 1M --volsize 100 --archive-dir /tmp/.duply/cache --allow-source-mismatch --asynchronous-upload --force --exclude-globbing-filelist /root/.duply/dir/exclude /dir gdocs://u...@gmail.com/backup Linux polaris 4.0.0-04-generic #201504121935 SMP Sun Apr 12 23:36:33 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 /usr/bin/python 2.7.9 (default, Apr 2 2015, 15:33:21) [GCC 4.9.2] ... [Bug 1445840] Re: 10ec:8176 rtl8192ce 200-3200+ms latency on 802.11n 2.4GHz network with no load
** Description changed: With a Asus PCE-N10 PCI-E Adapter Wireless N I have 10-20% packet loss on a 802.11n 2.4GHz network, 2-3200ms latency pinging just the gateway 192.168.1.1, with no network load on either the router or the WiFi chipset. The computer is ~4 feet away from a Verizon Jetpack MiFi 5510L connected to a power source, with no obstructions between them. Other clients (Ubuntu with different chipset, Windows) don't have this problem. With the router on battery only, Vivid live environment and mainline 4.0, situation has improved, but still get bursts of 2 packets with 300-450ms every 50-100 packets, with ~1% packet loss. + + Upstream post: + http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg136921.html The following did not provide a WORKAROUND: sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8192ce.conf options rtl8192ce ips=0 fwlps=0 Attempted to use older Asus provided driver from http://www.asus.com/us/Networking/PCEN10/HelpDesk_Download/ : sudo make make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/linux-headers-4.0.0-04-generic' gcc: error: /lib/modules/4.0.0-04-generic/build/include/linux/autoconf.h: No such file or directory gcc: fatal error: no input files compilation terminated. scripts/Makefile.build:49: *** CFLAGS was changed in /home/moniker/Desktop/Linux/HAL/rtl8192/Makefile. [Bug 1377569]
I went ahead and downloaded the source for xfwm4 4.12.3 on my work desktop and it built and ran fine, except for some minor issues I have: 1, I can't tell if the window focus problem was fixed because that machine never had the problem. 2. In 4.12.3, when I use ctl-alt-shift-# to move a window from one workspace to another, previously this would take the window and the focus to the designated workspace. In 4.12.3, it moves the window but does not shift to the target workspace. IIRC, that was the old behavior, but there's no control for altering this behavior, and that's not acceptable to me. 3. In 4.12.3, when I use alt-tab to shift fro one window to another, the whole window gets grayed out and I had to change a setting (I forget which one) to make it stop doing that. It's annoying. I plan to take the time to build and install the new version to test the bug fix, but I won't be keeping it (until/unless I have no choice) due to the other changes in behavior. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377569 Title: Window focus does not always switch to new window even when this is the setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfwm4/+bug/1377569/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

RE: [Bug 1354654] Re: Bug #1342377 with dual Radeon HD 6570 + amd-catalyst-14-4-rev2-linux-x86-x86-64-may6
Hi Christopher- I was actually still running Ubuntu 12.04. It was last July. When I did last summer's firmware update for Linux kernel drivers I got a black screen. It would not roll back to a previous version. == I then tried the 14.04 as a fresh install and only got snow with my dual Radeon HD 6570. My motherboard is Asus M5A97 R2.0 AMD 970 ATX MB. Clearly this is itself a major bug. It is uncomplicated. It does not work. == A black hole problem like these yields little post crash info. Unfortunately, I migrated to Xubuntu due to lack of response to this issue, which occurred occurred a year ago. I still hold back the firmware for Linux kernel drivers update on this system, which update precipitated the problem. I became extremely agitated and made a fairly incoherent bug report. But I do hope someone figures it out before I have to migrate to another distro entirely , Sincerely.
