Entries for kernel versions appear in the grub boot menu and as such a
reboot is required for the those kernel versions to disappear. I guess
strictly speaking this isn't necessary and it looks like the control
scripts for the Ubuntu kernel would need modifying to make this change.
The postinst
This upstart script, unlike the init.d script, doesn't create a pidfile
in /var/run/freeradius even though it creates the folder. This makes
monitoring freeradius difficult.
It should be trivial to start it instead with start-stop-daemon and have
it properly create the pidfile at
Any news on this issue? According to comment #4, this is the expected
behavior.

FWIW, I also felt into related traps and I have not encounter a use case
