I'm able to open rednotebook again, only after I remove the package
freshplayerplugin, which is a wrapper based pepper flash plugin for firefox.
This is really a weird problem, maybe rednotebook do use some flash parts
in its mechanism that only adobe flash can make it work properly.

Yes, current Onboard hides and shows the keyboard window wherever
possible, instead of minimizing/restoring it. IIRC it's been like this
since we switched to GTK-3 in 2012 and more out of necessity than by
design. Gnome-3/GTK-3 were trying to get rid of minimizing back then and
the required APIs

Yes, the output of 'lsmod|grep alx' is indeed empty.
Since my system doesn't have wifi, I don't think anything WPA related
could be the cause. I ran the commands anyway:
