Performance issues usually won't be noticeable, more on the order of
5-10%. It's still one of those things that you'd expect to be fixed at
some point, since the compositor can eat a fair amount of CPU from
unredirected windows on non-super-powerful machines.

Hey,
If this happens again, please connect your phone to your computer with USB, use
adb shell from a terminal to get a shell on your phone. Then do
kill -SEGV `pidof unity8`
This will make unity8 crash in the hung state it is in, and apport will
do its job of uploading the crash file to us.
I'm having the same issue on a T60. Restarting Networkmanager results
into 100% CPU-Usage.

I know that GCC is a compiler but usually when I install a linux distro
(Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Manjaro) on VirtualBox I have no problem to install
virtualbox guest additions.
But on Kubuntu 15.10 x64 Alpha 2 VirtualBox Guest Additions says that it
can't be installed because GCC is not installed.
