2015-08-28 Thread Dilvish
My recollection is that FreeOrion 0.4.4 required a somewhat narrow
version range for Ogre, so that's a point to double check.

Also, please be aware that the current version of FreeOrion no longer
uses Ogre (and has not for over 6 months now, though we're just now
getting a new formal 'stable' release out). The FreeOrion 0.4.5 stable
release should be ready within the next week or so (and perhaps needing
an additional week or two to wend its way through debian to ubuntu), but
in the meantime the 0.4.5 pre-release version that I see here in the
Wily Werewolf package had only very minor issues if I recall correctly,
so you might want to try it.

[Bug 1490088] Re: 15.10: pvs/pvscan/pvdisplay not recognising PV metadata when lvmetad is running

2015-08-28 Thread TJ
Workaround is:

service lvm2-lvmetad stop

Problem is that lvmetad is designed to cache device metadata on
discovery, which (should) come from specialised udevd rules. In the
chroot there is no init/udevd running so even re-attaching the loop
devices doesn't cause the PVs to be scanned.

There is a RedHat mailing list reference to this issue at:

http://www.redhat.com/archives/linux-lvm/2014-October/msg00043.html

[Bug 1490091] [NEW] opencsg 1.4.0-1 FTBFS on armhf

2015-08-28 Thread Tiago Stürmer Daitx
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu the qt4-x11 package is configured using opengles2 in armhf in
order to take advantage of accelerated drivers, thus qt4-qmake will
enable opengles2 by default whenever opengl is required. Opencgs depends
on glew, which is gl only and can't be build with gles2, thus we need to
enforce that qt4-qmake uses only opengl and forcefuly disable opengles2.

On Debian qt4-x11 is build using opengl, so there are no such issues.

[Bug 1490088] [NEW] 15.10: pvs/pvscan/pvdisplay not recognising PV metadata created by 14.04

2015-08-28 Thread TJ
Public bug reported:

Working on a 14.04 amd64 host with a 15.10 chroot I found that several
PV tools cannot recognise PVs created on 14.04.

As a test on 14.04 I created 2 test loop device files and used pvcreate
on them (loop0 has zero metadata copies).

## In 14.04:

$ sudo losetup -vf /var/lib/schroot/metadata-test.bin

$ sudo losetup -vf /var/lib/schroot/metadata-test-2.bin

$ sudo losetup -a

[Bug 84880] Re: firefox uploads files with wrong mimetype

2015-08-28 Thread IP Man
This bug is still affects firefox 39 and 40. So, I created a simple
upload page (http://npd.hol.es/upload.php) to make sure it's fixed or
not. This upload script will only allow to upload .rar (Winrar) / .srt
(Subtitle) files.

But I get 'Invalid file format' error for every file I upload, even for
supported formats. Also, I tried to upload using ubuntu default web
browser, still get the same problem. Maybe this issue is in the ubuntu,
not in firefox.

Re: [Bug 1487168] Re: [Emulated AD1980 AC97 inside Virualbox 5.0, playback] volume slider problem

2015-08-28 Thread Gene Soo
First, you dd not answer my question on whether or not I could attach the
files directly to this email and whether you would be able to get them or
do I need to upload them somewhere?

Second, I want to clarify the Verbose Log you want. Is that the Log from
Show Log CTRL+L? If so, I assume you want all of the available logs so you
can see from installation to last boot?

Third, I don't understand the last sentence starting with "the linux driver
check" nor do I know what to make of the URL you sent. If the sentence is
supposed to give me instructions to do something in relationship to the URL
contents I need clarification. Otherwise it would be best for me to get you
those screenshots so you can see what I am seeing.

[Bug 796717] Re: e2fsck not fixing some fs errors

2015-08-28 Thread Theodore Ts'o
The badblocks program really isn't designed to catch maliciously
designed "fake" flash FTL's. The "bit dropping pages" aren't
necessarily constant, which means there might not be a set of block
numbers that you can _put_ in the bad block inode. The bad block inode
is a bad idea in these modern days anyway. It made sense back in the
days of IDE disks, or its predecessors, which didn't do the bad block
remapping in the drive firmware. These days, it just causes confusion
and data loss by users who think it's a good idea.

I'm of half a mind of deprecating and disabling badblocks and e2fsck -cc
in the next major release of e2fsprogs, since more and more users are
using it to their detriment, and while I can't legislate away stupid
user tricks, I can remove tools that invite stupid user tricks

Still crashes for me even with the latest 15.200 package drivers. I'll
try installing the AMD 15.7 desktop drivers.

[Bug 1450089] Re: fglrx causes ubuntu to hang before login

2015-08-28 Thread Stephen Ranger
I tested The 15.7 drivers from AMD today under the desktop drivers and
they worked (though gnome is a bit sluggish). Also, I saw that fglrx
2:15.200-0ubuntu4-2 was released and that seems to have worked for me
better than the AMD driver.

[Bug 1450089] Re: fglrx causes ubuntu to hang before login

2015-08-28 Thread Peter Johnson
I've been able to work around this with the latest Catalyst Pro driver
but it requires downgrading xorg to 1.16.2.

Download and extract Catalyst Pro 14.502.1040 driver
(http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/workstation?os=Linux%20x86_64#catalyst-pro)
Apply patch for kernel 3.19: https://gist.github.com/aginor/4f232d4c28aef7685282
Apply patch I created to fix script bug in driver that prevents package
creation on Ubuntu: https://gist.github.com/PeterJohnson/88137d4c55356b6e6c96

Remove your current fglrx packages and build and install the 14.502.1040
ones. Unfortunately this package does NOT work with xorg 1.17
(different crash occurs) so you'll need to downgrade xorg to 1.16.2.

Install xorg 1.16.2, you'll need the following packages (have to manually
download from the web, as the package manager won't have them):
xorg_7.7+7ubuntu3_amd64.deb
xserver-common_1.16.2.901-1ubuntu4_all.deb
xserver-xorg_7.7+7ubuntu3_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-core_1.16.2.901-1ubuntu4_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse_13.0.0-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-all_7.7+7ubuntu2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-ati_7.4.0-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-cirrus_1.5.2-2build1_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-fbdev_0.4.4-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.99.914-1~exp1ubuntu4_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-mach64_6.9.4-2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-mga_1.6.3-2build1_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-modesetting_0.9.0-1build1_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-neomagic_1.2.8-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau_1.0.11-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-openchrome_0.3.3-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-r128_6.9.2-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-radeon_7.4.0-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-savage_2.3.7-2ubuntu3_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-siliconmotion_1.7.7-2build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-sisusb_0.9.6-2build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-tdfx_1.4.5-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-trident_1.3.6-0ubuntu6_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-vesa_2.3.3-1build2_amd64.deb
xserver-xorg-video-vmware_13.0.2-3ubuntu1_amd64.deb

With this, I have X booted and visuals working now on my W8100, but
kdeinit5 is on the crashy side, not sure if it's due to the downgraded X
or some other issue... but it's at last somewhat usable again!

OK, so "my" bug must be in ./NetworkManager/libnm/nm-device-wifi.c

prepare_scan_options (GVariant *options)

284 variant = g_variant_new_array (G_VARIANT_TYPE ("{sv}"),
NULL, 0);
285 else {

Heh...

// FIXME: verify options here?

Yes, that would be a good idea. Otherwise things like these here may
happen. :-]

[Bug 1452601] Re: vivid container's networking.service fails on boot with signal=PIPE

2015-08-28 Thread David Favor
Okay, a simple fix that seems to work (at least in my case), is to
comment out the first two guards in the stop function.

So...

#[ "x$USE_LXC_BRIDGE" = "xtrue" ] || { exit 0; }
#[ -f "${varrun}/network_up" ] || { exit 0; }

Once these are skipped, the code seems to work.

ps -ef | grep NetworkManager

/usr/sbin/NetworkManager *MUST* be running if you want to access the Internet.

1.0.4 did NOT run. When checking /var/log/*.crash files, I found a
network-manager-related crash file which indicated that NM had crashed way
before it got to the graphical login screen.
Downgraded NM and everything worked as expected.

[Bug 1452601] Re: vivid container's networking.service fails on boot with signal=PIPE

2015-08-28 Thread David Favor
IMHO, systemd seems to be the root of all evil.

touch /etc/dnsmasq.conf has no effect.

net4-dev# systemctl restart lxc-net
net4-dev# systemctl status lxc-net
● lxc-net.service - LXC network bridge setup
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/lxc-net.service; enabled; vendor preset:
enabled)
Active: active (exited) since Fri 2015-08-28 18:20:16 CDT; 9s ago
  Process: 15219 ExecStop=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/lxc-net stop
(code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
  Process: 15223 ExecStart=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/lxc-net start
(code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
 Main PID: 15223 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)

Shows lxc-net reported status of success + dnsmasq is never run.

There's just so much wrong here...

The entire /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/lxc-net script seems never to
require a rethink.

The problem is whoever wrote this imagined the Linux runtime environment
works sensibly (no edge conditions).

Many times they don't.

A simple situation is if OOM (Out of Memory Killer) runs +
scavenges/kill dnsmasq, then much of the "state" (files/directories)
lxc-net depends on is out of sync... meaning there's no test for dnsmasq
actually running. There's only a test for the lxcbr0 state files
existing. This is an insufficient approach.

I think the solution is to rewrite stop() to handle any edge condition,
so lxc-net can recover normal errors without manual intervention.

I'll take a stab at a rewrite + if my code isn't to embarrassing, I'll
post it.

[Bug 1489987] Re: Secure Boot failed on Ubuntu 14.04 on Dell E7440

2015-08-28 Thread Steve Langasek
Is the attached file /var/log/apt/term.log? The filename (and the
contents) suggests this was /var/log/apt/term.log.1 instead.

Also need the information about the current state of your efi boot
partition and firmware settings (/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu, efibootmgr -v).

[Bug 1490055] [NEW] Print dialog hangs when PPD file in /etc/cups/ppd/ is not world-readable

2015-08-28 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

It seems that the print dialog of the Chromium browser (the browser's
own one with the preview) tries to read the PPD file (the file
containing the printer's properties and the printer-specific user-
settable options) in /etc/cups/ppd/ directly to be able to display the
dialog with correct options and correct preview. The correct method
(which is also actually used by the GTK print dialog) is to use the API
of the CUPS library or IPP requests to the CUPS daemon.

As it depends on the configuration of CUPS whether the PPD files in
/etc/cups/ppd/ are world-readable and so readable for desktop apps run
by ordinary users, it easily happens that the direct reading does not
work. Therefore it is very important that print dialogs are properly
done.

What I am observing currently is that if the PPD of the selected printer
is not world-readable the print dialog hangs and is not able to display
the preview and the options. The user can only click the link to use the
standard GTK dialog.

See also

https://www.cups.org/str.php?L4703

about the world-readability of PPD files.

2015-08-28 Thread Francois D
Hi Robert,

Are you aware of this thread:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1383184/+index?comments=all

Adam did a patch that is very easy to install. Look at post #209.

It worked for me and everyone who upgraded to kernel 3.19. Unfortunately
in my case this kernel brought other issues but most of the people seem
have everything working.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Bug 1487168] Re: [Emulated AD1980 AC97 inside Virualbox 5.0, playback] volume slider problem

2015-08-28 Thread Gene Soo
I discovered that the Volume Slider problem exists even after the clean
install of Virtual Box 5.0.2.

I have screenshots that document the errant behavior.

I am not used to submitting documentation for problems other than typing in
descriptive text when prompted.

Can I attach the screenshot files as attachments to one of these emails and
will they be posted in your problem tracking application?
If not, can you direct me to instructions on how to submit documentation?

[Bug 1490038] [NEW] [i915_bpo] Adding DDI-E support caused a boot up gfx regression

2015-08-28 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

A boot up gfx regression (blank display) has been identified on a
machine being certified caused by the recent addition of DDI-E support
(VGA out). One patch of the series was still being debated at the time
of the SRU cutoff date, but got included because it was on the set of
commits that got tested on a number of systems. We can revert the
current patch and revisit it later once upstream has a proper solution
for it.

[Bug 1436940] Re: Atheros wifi 168c:0041(QCA6164) is not supported

2015-08-28 Thread robert
Diego:
I wanted first to thank you for taking the time to investigate and attempt to
help us resolve this issue.
I tried to follow all the post to get this to work, but am very frustrated.

Here is my Specific Card;
01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Qualcomm Atheros Device [168c:0041] (rev 20)

Because there seems to be various revisions to this card type, and different
folders needed in /lib/firmware/ath10k
It becomes difficult for me to follow each step. Along the way, if things
become unclear. I think some people have made the right assumptions and guesses
and got things right. While I am maybe others have not been able to get the
right files in the right folder to make things work.

Would it be possible to point me in the right direction, so I can get my
specific card type to work properly.
Every attempt so far still results in an unclaimed card.

Bob in Vegas

[Bug 1490035] [NEW] [i915_bpo/SKL] Display corrupted after resume from suspend

2015-08-28 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

A new video BIOS code from Intel causes a regression on Skylake where
the screen gets corrupted after resuming from suspend. This is a blocker
for OEM's, since new BIOS releases will include this VBIOS. We've helped
the vendor to verify a patch to fix it, and it's already been queued for
4.3:

commit 39d9b85a4d4fa1642663ca0d208b5c246a3d6f50
Author: Gary Wang
Date: Fri Aug 28 16:40:34 2015 +0800

drm/i915: set CDCLK if DPLL0 enabled during resuming from S3

Since BIOS RC 1.4 it would enable CDCLK PLL during BIOS S3 resume, then
driver needs to set CDCLK to avoid display corruption if DPLL0 enabled.

Any developer around?

Please, anyone don't you go annoying me with apport reports (I hate

Were you running systemd as init before this happened?

What do

sudo systemctl status libvirt-bin.service

sudo journalctl -xe

show?

[Bug 1490030] [NEW] shim-signed should include an apport hook applying to shim and shim-signed source packages

2015-08-28 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

When bug reports are filed against shim or shim-signed, we almost always want
to know:
 - the output of 'efibootmgr -v'
 - the directory listing of /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu
 - whether /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/shim$efiarch.efi and
/usr/lib/shim/shim.efi.signed match
 - whether /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grub$efiarch.efi and
/usr/lib/grub/$grubarch-efi-signed/grub$efiarch.efi.signed match

We should have an apport hook that provides this information
automatically.

The hook should be shipped in the shim-signed package, for convenience
of modification without round-tripping to Microsoft for re-signing of
binaries.

[Bug 796717] Re: e2fsck not fixing some fs errors

2015-08-28 Thread David G. Pickett
I am messing around with some fake 64GB microSD flash. It looks like
there is 8GB of usable disk, so I made an 8GB partition and formatted it
ext4. But after running "e2fsck -cck" on it several times, each time I
write an 8G file of text, the end of it is all nulls. It seems like
there are holes in the e2fsck or underlying badblocks. Those bit
dropping pages should all be in the bad blocks inode.

Doesn't seem to make Xubuntu or Ubuntu-GNOME crash anymore (tested here
in live mode); I haven't tested Kubuntu yet which appears like it would

We should still update the timezone files, but at least it's not
crippling for the installer; so I'm reducing the priority to Medium.

[Bug 1490023] [NEW] arm64 ldconfig.real segfaults on some armhf libs
