[Bug 1485522] Re: Volume obtained is 100% in multimedia sink for sounds from app
I've researched why the "Dinosaur" game always have sound effects at 100% volume. Starting with the pa_stream_connect_playback API, the documentation says: "It is strongly recommended to pass NULL in both dev and volume and to set neither PA_STREAM_START_MUTED nor PA_STREAM_START_UNMUTED – unless these options are directly dependent on user input or configuration. If you follow this rule then the sound server will have the full flexibility to choose the device, volume and mute status automatically, based on server-side policies, heuristics and stored information from previous uses. " Yet, in QPulseAudioOutput::open ( package: qtmultimedia-opensource-src, file: src/plugins/pulseaudio/qaudiooutput_pulse.cpp ), the volume is always set, despite PA recommending otherwise. In addition, the QPulseAudioOutput constructor defaults the volume to 1.0 (maximum). I think the QPulseAudioOutput component should default to not set the volume at all, i e, leaving "NULL" as the volume in the call to pa_stream_connect_playback. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485522 Title: Volume obtained is 100% in multimedia sink for sounds from app To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1485522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1498539] Re: FaviconFetcherTests random failures in silo builds
The bug fix https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/120738 links to a bug that indicates QNAM erronously closing queued multiple requests with 'Unknown error' and a warning before that "QIODevice:::write device not open" which matches what the test mentions. And the fix itself states "This patch changes the QNAM socket slot connections to be DirectConnection. We don't close the socket anymore in slots where it is anyway in a closed state afterwards. This prevents event/stack recursions.". Could the type change to DirectConnection cause this change of behavior? I've rebuilt Scopes packages, unity8, and download manager to have unit test results in addition to autopilot tests that I did earlier, and it still seems to be that the only flakiness is this webbrowser-app unit test, and on x86 only: https://launchpad.net/~canonical- qt5-edgers/+archive/qt5-beta1/+packages As x86 is faster, maybe there's something timing related. I've asked pstolowski to look whether he can see a delta with/without the patch. He mentioned there have been some 'device is open' in bug reports in the past, which is one of the symptoms being fixed by the bug fix. It's also useful to know that this bug fix itself is a bug fix to an earlier fix https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/110150/ which upstream urged everyone to ship, and we're currently doing that (in OTA-6). So if we're not seeing worrying regressions, it sounds like a worthwhile bug fix that may help random network failures in QNAM using components. To switch between with/without patch, the revert of this latter patch is in silo 054. One can use the pinning (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandingTeam/SiloTestingGuidelines#Install_silos_with_overlay_PPA_enabled), enabling/disabling the file and "apt upgrade" will allow to both quickly "upgrade to the revert" or "downgrade to the fix that was landed". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1498539 Title: FaviconFetcherTests random failures in silo builds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1498539/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1483320] Re: [BDW] VGA output regression on 4.2 (was: Migrate Broadwell to use i915_bpo)
** Description changed: There are several bugs affecting Broadwell generation graphics in the vivid kernel (3.19), but not found in 4.2rc which i915_bpo module is based on. In order to support our OEM partners (and other BDW users) it would make sense to migrate BDW to use i915_bpo instead. The known (public) bugs this would fix are: - screen is black after xrandr rotate command https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1446979 - changing the VT causes flicker https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85583 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1450557 - GPU hangs on resume - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1468232 + https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1452318 (and dupes, which I believe there are several of) - and some OEM machines can't always hotplug the HDMI output (no public bug AIUI) the migration should not be too risky, since i915_bpo is already used for Braswell which is same generation as (=based on) BDW.
