flash drive, the copy dialog started reporting first files being copied
in GB the it reached 1 GB it stared reporting it as TB

The problem seems to be some incompatibility between ibus and gnome-flashback.
ibus doesn't cause problems in Unity but it does cause this problem in
flashback.
A workaround for gnome-flashback would be to conflict with ibus until
this is solved.

I experience the same problem, but with integrated graphics card - Intel
HD 4600, ubuntu 15.04 64 bit
For me, it helps when in boot selection I pick the option of booting
with Upstart. Otherwise, it is black screen 100% time, no matter if I
change kernel or not. Windows starts without problem

Boot fails: black screen after

According to the README, the process to build libfreetype6 seems to
start with
./debian/rules patch
which fails due to the correct version of autoconf not being detected,
even though it is installed:

I am wondering if there has been any progress on this, and if a bug report has
been opened to the kernel devs.
This is impacting kvm deployments, and while there are workarounds, they are
all rather ugly (read: scripts that adjust tun MTUs after VMs boot).

please try using an Official Ubuntu supported kernel and reproduce this
problem.
ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.17.0-031700-generic
Don't use mainline kernels, they are not supported and they are used
only for testing specific kernel features/bugs..etc.
