We profiled this with Florian, and it ends up that Repeater is no longer
creating the bunch of components and then renders, but it creates each
delegate asynchronously after which it renders each of them separately.
So instead of a 1000 block create then render we have 1000 create +
render, and

Uploaded 1.24.7 to Trusty now that 1.22.8-0ubuntu1~14.04.1 is in trusty-
updates. I'm not sure why it is still in trusty-proposed but that
doesn't matter as it should be superceded by this new upload once
accepted.

I had two user accounts on the machine, an administrator and a normal user.
I edited a conf file in /etc/lightdm to auto login the unprivileged user, which
worked fine. I then deleted the unprivlieged user and changed the config file
to autologin the remaining user. This
