[Bug 1534263] [NEW] Import cmake-3.4 series to Ubuntu Xenial
Public bug reported: Latest stable upstream release. New 3.4 series which brings nice features with respect to current version in Xenial. It has been in debian-sid for more than one month and I can not find any bug related to this latest version. It builds just fine in my Xenial PPA: https://launchpad.net/~j-rivero/+archive/ubuntu/cmake-3.4-xenial Regarding to the building issues in armhf, arm64 and powerpc in the 3.3 series, I see that 3.4 debian packages compiles in all them (https://packages.debian.org/sid/cmake) so probably they are now fixed. I was close to submit the standard requestsync but just realized that we probably want to keep a set of specific ubuntu patches. The requestsync displayed me this message: 8< Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped: * Cherry-pick upstream commit fe558718b30da989db8b880374012a0e580574e6 to fix test suite failure with new file. * Cherrypick Features_Extract_strings_from_test_binary_more_reliably.patch from Debian to fix test-suite errors. * Revert back to 3.2.2, build issues on armhf, arm64 and powerpc. * Merge with Debian; remaining changes: - debian/cmake-data.install debian/MultiArchCross.cmake debian/patches/ubuntu_cmake-crosscompile.patch Add MultiArchCross.cmake to installed files. (help cmake to find libraries in multiarch path) xnox says this is not yet ready to go upstream but he will work on it - debian/patches/ubuntu_boost-multiarch.patch find boost and python in multiarch path this is a candidate for removal but needs rdepend testing * Search for Python 3.5. 8< So: can we go with a normal requestsync? Is there any patches that needs to be migrated? I'm available to get some work done if needed. [Bug 1272624] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] 14.04 Touchpad causing mouse pointer to spuriously jump around screen
It seems to be the same problem as I am having with my Dell Latitude E7440 with Ubuntu 14.04.03, Ubuntu 15.04 amd64, Ubuntu 15.10 amd64, and also when testing with the latest upstream kernels. It wants to remove workdir/work if it exists and then create workdir/work, see ovl_workdir_create. I don't think so, since 1. lowerdir is not written to. 2. We've established that what's done with workdir won't make this possible. 3. When the vfs checks inode permissions for writing ovl_permission is called, which checks the permissions for the inode in upperdir for any write operation. I've checked most of the places where overlay fs raises its credentials, and I haven't found anything where it's doing anything with elevated creds that isn't in line with the permission checks that would have already been done. I'm still looking at ovl_rename2 though, which is doing a lot more stuff with elevated creds than anywhere else. Something I'm still not sure about is what would happen if you made a symlink, bind mount, etc. in upperdir with the same name as an unrelated file in lowerdir. This is worth checking out. > It looks like no, since > > root@w1:/tmp# mount -t overlay -o > lowerdir=lower, upperdir=upper, workdir=workdir overlay /mnt > root@w1:/tmp# ls /mnt > cisco > root@w1:/tmp# rmdir /mnt/cisco > rmdir: failed to remove ‘/mnt/cisco’: Read-only file system > root@w1:/tmp# mv /mnt/cisco /mnt/c2 > mv: cannot move ‘/mnt/cisco’ to ‘/mnt/c2’: Read-only file system > > (here w1 is a unpriv container with /hostopt a bind mount of /opt on the > host; cisco a directory both in host's /opt and in /tmp/lowerdir) I think I'm missing something here. I don't know why your mount is read-only. But even if it wasn't, cisco is in lowerdir and thus should never be modified or removed in any case. Removing it in /mnt should (I think, still learning here) result in making a file in upperdir with the whiteout xattr set. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531747 Title: overlay: mkdir fails if directory exists in lowerdir in a user namespace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1531747/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1534205] [NEW] cloud-initramfs-dyn-netconf should work without /etc/network/interfaces symlink
Public bug reported: See [1] for doc on cloud-initramfs-dyn-netconf. cloud-initramfs-dyn-netconf takes klibc ipconfig output and writes /etc/network/interfaces (ENI) style file in /run/network/dynamic-interfaces. The goal is to have the user's provided 'ip=' kernel parameters be "sticky" and not have the network interface get bounced by normal post-initramfs networking bringup. Essentially kernel command line should override /etc/network/interfaces in a similar way to command line flags overriding environment or system configuration. As it is right now, we have to have ln -sf /etc/network/interfaces /run/network/dynamic-interfaces in order for this to work. That means: a.) if you've not done this, dyn-netconf isn't much use b.) if you *have* done this, but not provided ip= then you'll get you'll get no network configuration. [Bug 1516263] Re: Texts are not rendering properly
Pavak Paul, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.19 to 4.2 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. After the offending commit (not kernel version) has been identified, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1367946] Re: thermald fails to start on AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor
@David, Is this problem still an issue? If so, I did try out thermald on an AMD device and wrote some notes on how to configure thermald manually on my blog: http://smackerelofopinion.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/tweaking- thermald-configuration-file.html There are also some brief how to notes on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagement/ThermalIssues Perhaps that will be a useful starting point. [Bug 1534169] Re: When playing audio from two sources with bgplaylists support (eg music-app and scope) it becomes confusing
** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Milestone: None => ww08-2016 ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Assignee: (unassigned) => Alejandro J. Cura (alecu) ** Description changed: When playing audio from two sources that have bgplaylists support (eg music-app and scope) it becomes confusing, whichever is in view seems to get the focus of the controls in the indicator-sound. What happened: 1) Start playing music from the music-app 2) Notice that the controls are shown in the indicator-sound 3) Go to the scopes and start playing music from the local music scope 4) Now notice that the music for the music-app stops and the controls are correctly switched for the scopes 5) Now switch back to the music-app, but do not select anything 6) Notice that the controls have switched to being for the music-app and not the scope, so I cannot now pause the scope I have to assume that selecting play in music will then pause the scope. What I expected to happen: This is tricky, if the controls stayed with whatever was playing instead of in focus, this could be less confusing. But still you lose the second apps controls. I would prefer that all apps that are playing audio are shown in the indicator, similar to unity7. This then would not be confusing as you could see the controls for all the different apps available. + + -- + + From the design spec at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Sound#Sound_menu + + The menu should always show exactly only one set of playback controls, + for the player that was playing most recently. For example, if audio is + currently playing, the controls should be for that player. ** Changed in: indicator-sound (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: indicator-sound (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Charles Kerr (charlesk) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1534169 Title: When playing audio from two sources with bgplaylists support (eg music-app and scope) it becomes confusing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1534169/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
