[Bug 1522316] Re: Icons are too big

"NAUTILUS_CANVAS_ICON_SIZE_STANDARD 48" "STANDARD_ICON_GRID_WIDTH 155"
makes it exactly same as 3.14 IMHO. Not sure why Sebastien thinks its
too much spacious.

[Bug 1002510] Re: package courier-authlib-mysql 0.63.0-3.1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2016-02-04 Thread Laurent Declercq
Same here. Upgrade failed on xenial.

Well, to fix the problem, I've created the expected file manually and
run apt-get install -f. Once done, I've purged the package and
reinstalled it. Then installation failed because the service authdaemon
could not start. This is due to the new systemd /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d
/courier-authdaemon.conf configuration file which attemps to create run
directory with wrong user (courier) instead of the daemon user.

[Bug 1412441] Re: [MIR] libclc

2016-02-04 Thread Michael Terry
No, llvm-3.8 doesn't help here. I'm trying to avoid xenial having two
llvms in main. Right now our default, supported llvm is llvm-3.6. So
either we switch libclc to use our supported version, or we switch our
supported version to be the one libclc uses.

[Bug 1541751] [NEW] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

2016-02-04 Thread amichair
Public bug reported:

On Kubuntu 15.10, KDE Framework 5.18.0, Qt 5.5.1, kernel
4.4.1-040401-generic from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
(I upgraded hoping it would solve the problem, but it did not). Haswell
i7-4771 with integrated GPU (no other graphics card). 3-monitor setup.

Several times a day the display seems to crash in various ways, some
recoverable (e.g. by restarting plasmashell or sddm) but sometimes a
monitor stays blank, corrupt or unresponsive and only a full reboot
helps. I also see a plasma crash dialog every time I return to my
desktop after the screens went into power-savings mode when I was away
(I don't know if this is related or a plasma bug). It also happens
sometimes while dragging a windows (desktop effects are on), while
watching a video (I now get occasionally a few seconds with black output
in the middle of the video too). It's hard to pinpoint which components
are unstable, likely more than one, but this is a starting point since I
get the following message in dmesg which I assume is at a lower level
than the desktop environment (correct me if I'm wrong):

[Thu Feb 4 10:44:20 2016] [drm:intel_set_cpu_fifo_underrun_reporting [i915]]

[Bug 1537782] Re: Need to use (Q)Shortcuts instead of Keys.onPressed for shortcuts

2016-02-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
The QML Shortcut type was introduced in Qt 5.5, and the stable vivid
overlay has Qt 5.4.1 (and according to Timo a full upgrade to 5.5 in the
stable vivid overlay PPA is not planned).

That leaves us with the option of exposing QShortcut to QML in the
browser.

[Bug 1540243] Re: SRU virtualbox-ext-pack, virtualbox-guest-additions-iso to match virtualbox versions

2016-02-04 Thread LocutusOfBorg
** Summary changed:

- Packaged version must match version of virtualbox package
+ SRU virtualbox-ext-pack, virtualbox-guest-additions-iso to match virtualbox
versions

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * some ext-pack and guest-additions-iso versions are too old to be
+ useful with newer virtualbox releases
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * install a virtualbox machine and extpack/guest-additions, update
+ virtualbox from -security, and in some case you won't be able to start
+ the machine anymore
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * none.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
Due to upstream's patch policy, security updated are newer minor
releases. That is great for the user. But the catch is that just the
main virtua box packages (virtualbox, virtualbox-qt and virtualbox-dkms)
  are updated.

  Both virtualbox-guest-additions-iso and virtualbox-ext-pack become
useless after the security update is installed, as the minor version
must match for it to work. While the virtualbox-ext-pack is arguably
relatively easy to find on upstream's webpage (which one has to know
about and go there yourself), the guest additions iso actually has no
public download, since it always comes bundled with the virtualbox
  releases.

Long story short, please also update these packages whenever you upload
a new minor version as security update, otherwise you make those
  packages completely useless.

[Bug 1541588] Re: [System Settings] Changes needed for the UI on a tablet device

2016-02-04 Thread John Lea
** Changed in: ubuntu-ux
Assignee: (unassigned) => John Lea (johnlea)

** Changed in: ubuntu-ux
   Importance: Undecided => Critical

** Description changed:

Note for design: can we simply avoid referring to the/this phone as in
most uses its not necessary for clarity, and then the same text can
  always apply..

  Main panel:
  Hide Cellular
  Hide Hotspot
  Hide Phone
About this phone -> About this device or just About
Reset phone -> Reset device or just Reset

  Background
Ensure default for images is landscape

  Sound:
Hide Ringer, Phone Calls and Messages sections

  Security and Privacy
  Hide SIM PIN
Locking and unlocking > Lock security "Unlock the phone using" --> "Unlock
the device using"
Locking and unlocking > Lock when idle "Lock the phone when..." --> "Lock
the device when ..."
  "Phone won't lock..." --> Device won't lock ..."

  About this device
  Hide IMEI
Developer mode > "this phone" --> "this device"

A minor point but what happens when we search in settings for hidden
  stuff
+
+
+
+ Note from design:
+
+ - The text in the UI should never refer to "Phone", "Tablet" or
+ "Desktop". Instead the word "Device" should be used.
+
+ - e.g. "About This Computer" or "About This Phone" is incorrect. This
+ wording should be changed to "About this device" in both the indicator
+ and System Settings to be convergence friendly.
+
+ - This change applies to all device references in the UI.

[Bug 1541936] [NEW] pseudoetymological is bunglesome and discommoding to be used for a MAAS node name

2016-02-04 Thread Chris Gregan
Public bug reported:

Build Version/Date: MAAS 1.10
Environment used for testing: Xenial

Summary:
In the latest MAAS, a node was named pseudoetymological-adalberto. This causes
row wrapping in the UI. I feel like the adjective should be limited to a
reasonable char count.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Enlist a node

Expected result:
Names are a reasonable length

Actual result:
An 18 character adjective seems a bit excessive

[Bug 1541935] [NEW] Assigning CTRL to "Show location of pointer" means that applications cannot capture CTRL

2016-02-04 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I have recently noticed that when one turns on the option in the gnome-
tweak-tool in order to "Show location of pointer" when CTRL is pressed,
application are no longer able to capture the CTRL key. For instance VMs
in Virtual Box no longer do anything when CTRL is pressed simply because
they do not know it is being pressed, so I can't copy and paste stuff in
VMs, nor cancel commands in Terminal, so it is very annoying. It also
means that in Virtual Box if I press my right CTRL key instead of my
left one (as they have different features where the left acts as the
guest key, and the right one as the host key - the host key would
normally be used to toggle Virtual Box capturing) it still does nothing,
even though it's Virtual Box that should do something rather than the
VM.

Turning off the option in gnome-tweak-tool resolves the problem, but I
would still like to be able to have it on without side-effects.

[Bug 1541902] [NEW] Enable DDW on qemu aiming GPU passthrough performance on Ubuntu KVM

This is a feature to track DDW support on Qemu/kvm passthrough. This is a
feature to improve performance when using GPUs on virtual machines.

The kernel pieces are already on version 4.2, and now we need the pieces
on qemu.

This should be sent upstream in 2 weeks, and submission URL pasted here.

[Bug 1512606] Re: Display size incorreectly detected (assuming 96x96 DPI)

2016-02-04 Thread Václav Šmilauer
@Timo: what you say is GTK-only setting (e.g. not Firefox and
Thunderbird, not Qt programs), plus Xorg will still report wrong DPI,
which is a crucial information e.g. for GIMP (so that it can know how is
stuff physically scaled) and such. I don't want to scale things, I want
xorg to not lie about the DPI. Come on, in 2016, out-of-the box
installation should look right on non-exotic hardware without tinkering;
and in this case, tinkering is not even possible in a consistent manner.

[Bug 1541935] Re: Assigning CTRL to "Show location of cursor" means that applications cannot capture CTRL

2016-02-04 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
I have also filed a report on this issue upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=761563

** Description changed:

I have recently noticed that when one turns on the option in the gnome-
- tweak-tool in order to "Show location of cursor" when CTRL is pressed,
+ tweak-tool in order to "Show location of pointer" when CTRL is pressed,
application are no longer able to capture the CTRL key. For instance VMs
in Virtual Box no longer do anything when CTRL is pressed simply because
they do not know it is being pressed, so I can't copy and paste stuff in
VMs, nor cancel commands in Terminal, so it is very annoying. It also
means that in Virtual Box if I press my right CTRL key instead of my
left one (as they have different features where the left acts as the
guest key, and the right one as the host key - the host key would
normally be used to toggle Virtual Box capturing) it still does nothing,
even though it's Virtual Box that should do something rather than the
  VM.

+ Turning off the option in gnome-tweak-tool resolves the problem, but I
+ would still like to be able to have it on without side-effects.

[Bug 1540965] Re: Support Joyent lx-brand environment in smartos datasource

2016-02-04 Thread Robert C Jennings
SmartOS: Add support for Joyent LX-Brand Zones

LX-brand zones on Joyent's SmartOS use a different metadata source
(socket file) than the KVM-based SmartOS virtualization (serial port).
This patch adds support for recognizing the different flavors of
virtualization on SmartOS and setting up a metadata source file object.
After the file object is created, the rest of the code for the datasource
can remain common.

This patch reads the metadata byte-by-byte rather than using readline
because we can not perform a readline on the file-like object for the
socket as this block indefintely waiting for an EOF that is will not be
sent by the host platform. This patch also moves to V2 metadata as it
provides checksum validation and makes reading the metadata much more
reliable.

[Bug 1541781] Re: [indicators] Players in sound indicator are not launched when clicking in its icon

The music-app is an MPRIS player (running the code from media-player-

That code is running on the desktop (unity7) and it launches the players
fine.

That's why I've opened the bug, to also confirm the action associated with the
player is executed.
I've asked dednick about it and he wasn't 100% sure if it was a unity8 bug.

[Bug 1541510] Re: parted crashes on lvm, on a dasd drive

2016-02-04 Thread Viktor Mihajlovski
The parted code is iterating all the label types and consequently is
probing for DASD. The weird thing is that on one hand the DASD ioctl is
passed down to the physical volume (and I mean weird: what would have
happened if the logical volume was realised by extents on both DASD and
SCSI disks?) and on the other hand silently igores the
HDIO_GETGEO.(which I can understand). Currently trying out a patch
similar to the one posted by Colin.
