On the other hand, there is a lot of instructions that promote

dd if=distro.iso of=/dev/sdx

at the web pages of several major linux distros. And I seldom see any
warning or hint how to restore the pendrive to a data storage drive with
an MSDOS partition table and FAT32 file system.

I don't say it is good, and you certainly have a point, but I think many
people, maybe particularly people who read bug reports, think it is
trivial to use gparted or some other tool. So I think you have to use
other channels too in order to create opinion and make something happen.

Edit: I think that it could make sense to add these resource paths also
additionally to the search paths so that the user can for example put
roms into "$HOME/mame/roms" and "$HOME/.mame/roms". That would be useful
if the user displays hidden directories at default and wants to keep out
of the box all in one directory.

[Bug 1557866] [NEW] connecting to samba share doesn't show all items

Public bug reported:

When connecting to certain Shares from a Windows computer (Windows 10, but 
happened also from when it was Windows 7). I get this error:
Sorry, could not display all the contents of “google drive on wrs-scanner-pc”: 
Invalid argument
But when accessing other shares on this folder I can access it.
Other Windows computers on the network can access it fine no problem.
Sometimes I can see an item or two from the Google Drive share, other times 0 
items, and other times that error.
It looks to me like a gvfs-mount problem.
As far as I can tell, I am not hitting the max share limit on non-server 
Windows versions. (Which limit to a maximum of 20 connections, we don't have 
that many connecting it)

I think a recent change in gnome-software has exposed this. This
gs_app_has_quirk doesn't check if app is NULL, where all the other
functions do. It's still an error that app is NULL for some reason, but
we can workaround this for now.

OK, testing on the most recent mainstream kernel, 4.5.0, is now
complete. The Ubuntu and kernel version:

The bug is partially fixed, and partially present:
- The reset loops still occur intermittently when the device is connected.
- However, unplugging the device during a reset loop no longer causes a kernel 
panic or hang. (There isn't any observable "action that happens instead"; the 
device stops resetting but that isn't surprising, given that it's no longer 
physically connected to the computer.)

I have used both fixed-upstream and exists-upstream tags because there
is still a bug with recognising the device upstream, but the worst
symptom (the panic) appears to have been fixed, leaving only a more
minor symptom. (This is the same behaviour that I observed when running
Ubuntu Vivid.) If this is incorrect, feel free to correct the tags.

The syslog from this boot, on which I plugged and unplugged the device
repeatedly, is attached.

The Juju team wants juju-mongodb3.2 packaged in xenial.

lp:~sinzui/ubuntu/xenial/juju-mongodb3.2/xenial-mongodb-3.2

This package is an fork and upgrade of the juju-mongodb2.6 package
that will be used in upgrades. There is a lot of change in this package
because Upstream changed a lot. the package required new rules and
deps. Many patches were needed to support wily/xenial tools chains
and arm64 and ppc64el archs.

Juju2 prefers juju-mongodb3.2 as the db for its controllers. This db
uses a different storage engine named wiredtiger. it requires JS to
operate.

There are many packages in src/third_party/. Most of them are ignored
because we choose to use the ubuntu system packages. Wiretiger appears
in third_party. 10gen/MongoDB bought the product and made it the default
storage engine. We must use this version. Mongo builds with the
embedded mozjs, there is no system option.


## juju-mongodb2.6-to-juju-mongodb3.2.diff

This is a diff of the debian dir from juju-mongodb2.6 to
juju-mongodb3.2, excluding patches. The principal changes are:

1. Rename juju-mongodb2.6 => juju-mongodb3.2.
2. Added new build deps. I tried to use system packages when possible.
   - trusty's libboost is too old so d/rules falls back to the embedded
 package for trusty only.
   - server-js is off; the server does not accept js queries, but the

 I disabled the test because it fails on arm64.

[Bug 1551379] Re: Sync znc 1.6.3-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

.deb files were installed via dpkg -i, dependencies via `apt-get install
-f`, which finished configuration of some znc packages which were
missing dependencies.

This text file is all the relevant logs from the installation that I was
able to pull (network disconnect to the testing system resulted in a
failure to obtain the `dpkg -i` log data.  However, the packages did
install, and the run log (to be attached next) indicates successful
installation.

That -R looks innocent, but it's not.  Libs.private is passed to gcc,
not to ld, so it needs to use -Wl,-rpath... what am I saying, it
shouldn't be passing an rpath at all, should it?

Anyway, the -R has to go, it causes build failure for any app that uses
pkg-config --static --libs gnutls

This bug was not present in ubuntu 12.04, but is present in both ubuntu
14.04 and ubuntu 15.10.

The workaround for affected developers is to ham-fistedly remove the
-R/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/pkgconfig/gnutls.pc

This packaged in is a fork of juju-mongodb upgraded to version 2.6.
This package is only used to upgrade from juju-mongodb to
juju-mongodb3.2. The upstream source is the same as mongodb_2.6.

Note that the juju-mongodb3.2 package is more important than this
package, but this package was my starting point for change. I think
the review of the juju-mongodb3.2 package is easier if the changes
to this package are understood.

I used the changes from mongodb_2.4 to mongodb_2.6 as guide for which
patches to drop and add. The package targets the supported series,
xenial, wily, and trusty for the three 64 bit archs supported by
1.25.0 (amd64, arm64, and ppc64el)


## juju-mongodb-to-juju-mongodb2.6.diff

show the changes to the debian dir. The changes include
1. A rename from juju-mongodb => juju-mongddb2.6
2. The package only supports 64 bit archs, I restrict the package
   to amd64, arm64, and ppc64el. s390x is not relevant because
   it is new.
3. Per mongodb_2.6, I use "--use-system-yaml" in d/rules.


## juju-mongodb2.6-patches-from mongodb2.6.diff

Shows the diff of changed patches. I just deleted the 2.4 patches
and copied the 2.6 patches into d/patches. I did not change any patches.

## mongodb_2.6-to-juju-mongodb2.6.diff

This diff from the mongodb_2.6 package debian/ to the juju-mongodb2.6
debian dir shows a lot of change. The crix of the diff is that it shows
the d/patches in the ne package are identical to the ubunti package.

## juju-mongodb2.6-patches-from mongodb2.6.diff

Shows the diff of changed patches. I just deleted the 2.4 patches
and copied the 2.6 patches into d/patches. I did not change any patches.

## mongodb_2.6-to-juju-mongodb2.6.diff

This diff from the mongodb_2.6 package debian/ to the juju-mongodb2.6
debian dir shows a lot of change. The crix of the diff is that it shows
the d/patches in the ne package are identical to the ubunti package.

still hitting this problem.

This log file contains the complete sbuild log for the amd64 build in a
Xenial schroot.  The build host machine is a 14.04 system, but the
schroot is Xenial.

This file also contains Lintian output, because I like to lintian-check
my builds.  The Lintian checks fail with 'E: znc changes: bad-
distribution-in-changes-file unstable', however this is a valid
distribution in Debian.  This error happens because I did not change the
changelog entry to say 'xenial', and I left it to be identical to the
package in Debian Unstable.
