[Bug 1575436] Re: Some HTML5 YouTube videos don't work in Chromium

2016-06-18 Thread mpb
I am not sure if this is relevant or related, but I am running
49.0.2623.108-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1113 on amd64.

A couple days ago I upgraded to 50.x, possibly it was
50.0.2661.102-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1117.

After this upgrade, no videos would play on YouTube. I think there was
audio playback, but the video display rectangle was just black, maybe
with a couple grey lines.

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a motherboard with Intel integrated
graphics.

I then downgraded back 49.0.2623.108-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1113.  Luckily I
was able to find the correct .deb files for the downgrade.

[Bug 1594059] [NEW] python3 plugin produces wrappers with a broken PYTHONPATH

2016-06-18 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to use snapcraft 2.11 on Ubuntu 16.04 and its python3
plugin to produce a snap for http-prompt¹. It doesn't work because
the resulting snap wrappers include this:

However, the actual built python packages end up in
python3/dist-packages:

| james@ornery:~$ ls -l
/snap/http-prompt/current/usr/lib/python3.5/dist-packages
| total 0
| james@ornery:~$ ls -l /snap/http-prompt/current/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages

[Bug 1594058] [NEW] python3 plugin produces binaries with bad hash bang paths

2016-06-18 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to use snapcraft and its python3 plugin to produce a snap
for http-prompt¹ and the binaries in the snap
(e.g. usr/bin/http-prompt) end up looking like this:

| #!/home/james/http-prompt/parts/http-prompt/install/usr/bin/python3

which obviously doesn't work when the snap is installed.

** Affects: snapcraft (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1594046] Re: lts 16.04 crashes frequently on acer TC-605

2016-06-18 Thread David Johnston
Seems similar to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1574951
(found as first case with search for Acer alone, without mentioning distro, or
the words crashes, frequently, or the machine model.

I wasnt sure which package needed to be noted so picked the ubuntu-release
package.
maybe should have indicated unity or compiz or something like that.

Also did searches using Acer + freeeze,
for LTS 16.04 release -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1592442
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1578944
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1528880
similar for other releases -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1511844
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1509723
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1509723
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/733392

and search for acer + crash
but the only one found which seemed relevant was the first one listed above -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1592442

Based on this suggestion, I have added a line to the grub entry for my dual
boot start menu -
http://askubuntu.com/questions/776069/ubuntu-16-04-freezes-during-use
(thanks to the reporter of bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1578944 for the reference)

Will keep an eye on the system and advise if the above workaround avoids the
problem.
If it does, it may suggest how the underlying cause can be found and fixed so
the need for the workaround can be obviated.

[Bug 1594050] [NEW] Network Manager wifi adapter toggle bug

2016-06-18 Thread nicolas santamaria
Public bug reported:

I have 2 wifi adapters in my system, an internal(displayed as PCI) and
an external(USB), the problem I have is that the toggles to individually
turn the adapters on/off are linked, when I turn off one of them, both
of them are switched off and vice-versa. This happens either by toggling
form settings->network of from the status menu.

System details:
Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 LTS

[Bug 1199774] Re: No calDAV and iCalendar support

2016-06-18 Thread James Tigert
SyncEvoution DOES NOT work. In fact, now that I "stupidly" chose to use
it, my sync operation with Google results in errors. I haven't
troubleshot anything yet, but I wanted to warn any user attempting to
use the script.

It's not a bad script, it just doesn't work the way that "I" assumed it
would.

[Bug 1594035] Re: unable to shut down the system after suspend / resume

2016-06-18 Thread Donald Pellegrino
I confirmed that disabling encrypted swap is a work-around for the
inability to shut down. I commented out the cryptswap1 entry from
/etc/crypttab:

$ diff /etc/crypttab /etc/crypttab~
1c1
< # cryptswap1 UUID=d1bd47b1-9969-4cf6-bb7e-482a50b41ffa /dev/urandom
swap,offset=1024,cipher=aes-xts-plain64
---
> cryptswap1 UUID=d1bd47b1-9969-4cf6-bb7e-482a50b41ffa /dev/urandom
> swap,offset=1024,cipher=aes-xts-plain64

I also set /etc/fstab to use the swap partition directly rather than
/dev/mapper/cryptswap1:

$ diff /etc/fstab /etc/fstab~
16,17c16,17
< UUID=d1bd47b1-9969-4cf6-bb7e-482a50b41ffa none  swap  sw  0  0
< #/dev/mapper/cryptswap1 none swap sw 0 0
---
> #UUID=d1bd47b1-9969-4cf6-bb7e-482a50b41ffa none  swap  sw  0  0
> /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 none swap sw 0 0

On this machine, it seems encrypted swap was not working anyway as per
lines in the attached JournalErrors.txt:

Jun 18 17:56:14 username-Lemur systemd-cryptsetup[446]: Failed to activate with
key file '/dev/urandom': Device or resource busy
...
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd-cryptsetup[446]: Loading of
cryptographic parameters failed: Invalid argument
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd-cryptsetup[446]: Failed to activate:
Invalid argument
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd[1]: Failed to start Cryptography Setup
for cryptswap1.
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Encrypted
Volumes.
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd[1]: Dependency failed for
dev-mapper-cryptswap1.device.
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd[1]: Dependency failed for
/dev/mapper/cryptswap1.
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Swap.
Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd[1]:

Jun 18 17:56:18 username-Lemur systemd-cryptsetup[805]: Failed to activate with
key file '/dev/urandom': Device or resource busy

With encrypted swap disabled as per the changes to /etc/crypttab and
/etc/fstab, the machine now shuts down as expected even when
suspend/resume cycles occur during the user session.

[Bug 1594046] [NEW] lts 16.04 crashes frequently on acer TC-605

2016-06-18 Thread David Johnston
Public bug reported:

I recently installed ubuntu 16.04 LTS release when I did an upgrade to
whingedoze 10 (to get the product key then clean install, to set up a
dual boot with a linux distro).

It works reasonably, but crashes often after being left to go into sleep mode.
I tried changing the sleep/hibernate options to avoid letting it go to sleep,
and that decreased the frequency with which I hit crashes under those
circumstances, but has highlighted that it still crashes at other unexpected
times.

I have noticed it crash when running browser games and also when playing
audio and when trying to install apps, but it is intermittent. I go back
to the same set of apps and they operate OK and I cant reproduce the
problem. When the machine locks I do a hard shutdown by holding down the
power key, and then when ubuntu starts up again usually there are bug
report dialogue boxes which pop up.

I also get those dialgue boxes sometimes even after having just done normal
shutdowns.
I have clicked send report on almost all of them, and it has prompted me for
the root password and seems to have sent bug reports.

I want to contribute to find the problems and make the release better,
but the crashes are happening so frequently it makes me wonder whether
the release is just too unstable to use, or just not compatible with
this hardware. Windows 10 has never crashed on this machine. Its a
family machine, so my wife often uses the windows 10 install, and she
hasnt had any problems with it.

[Bug 1578538] Re: Birdfont freezes while saving to a new file

2016-06-18 Thread Johan Mattsson
I did find a bug that might be connected to this one. When ever I run a
TimeoutSource with a short interval in GLibs main loop will all the idle
events be put on hold until the timer ends. This caused the spinning
wheel to block the main loop. I have not been able to track down the
problem in GLib but I will continue looking for it.

There is a fix for this problem in the 2.x branch of the source code
repository.

Public bug reported:

Hello
PcManFM is unable to browse SMB shares unless samba-common is present.
In my lubuntu default installation samba-common was not installed; pcmanfm

[Bug 1589006] Re: Failed unmounting Mount unit for nvidia support in snappy

2016-06-18 Thread David Daynard
This issue is confusing me. I'm on yakkety running Cinammon and the
nvidia drivers will not update due to this error. I do not have snapd
installed. Why is a .deb file trying to use Snap? I tried installing
snapd as a test and it still errors out on this. I ran the Snap reset
script (which did nothing since I don't have any Snaps installed) and it
still didn't work. Should I open this as a separate bug?

[Bug 1579542] Re: My computer reboots instead of shutdown

2016-06-18 Thread Peter Maciejko
I have set RESTORE ON AC/POWER LOSS option to POWER OFF so nop, but I
have noticed something. When I set USB 3.0 Controller option in UEFI to
DISABLE, everything is fine - computer goes power off as it should be,
but I need this option ENABLE 'cause of performance.

This command:

$echo -n ":00:14.0" > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/xhci_hcd/unbind &&
poweroff

works as well.

My USB tree in attachment as well as lspci.

I think this upstream XHCI bug.

[Bug 1593979] Re: gnome-terminal terminal gets narrower when mouse is moved across the right border

2016-06-18 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Clarified the bug title. ("minimize" is the action triggered by the

here.)

[Bug 1594035] [NEW] unable to shut down the system after suspend / resume

2016-06-18 Thread Donald Pellegrino
Public bug reported:

In the case of a system that has gone through a suspend / resume cycle,
the "shutdown now" command fails with the following output:

$ shutdown now
Failed to power off system via logind: Transaction is destructive.
Failed to start poweroff.target: Interactive authentication required.
See system logs and 'systemctl status poweroff.target' for details.
Failed to open /dev/initctl: Permission denied
Failed to talk to init daemon.

---

$ systemctl status poweroff.target
● poweroff.target - Power-Off
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/poweroff.target; disabled; vendor preset:
   Active: inactive (dead)
 Docs: man:systemd.special(7)

---

$ systemctl list-jobs
JOB UNIT  TYPE  STATE
438 dev-mapper-cryptswap1.device  start running
439 dev-mapper-cryptswap1.swapstart waiting
436 systemd-cryptsetup@cryptswap1.service start running

3 jobs listed.

---

Steps to reproduce:

1. Boot system
2. User login to graphical session
3. Close lid while on battery power triggering a suspend
4. Open lid while on battery power triggering a resume
5. Run "shutdown now" from a terminal. Note that the command must be run from
the terminal to see output. Selecting "Shut Down..." from the system menu in
the menu bar will hide the error output.
6. Observe that the system fails to shut down

Expected behavior:

At step 6, the system should shut down gracefully.

Note that the shutdown process works as expected if steps 3 and 4 are
skipped. I suspect that something about the suspend / resume cycle
during the session has an interaction effect with the shutdown process,
preventing it from executing correctly.

[Bug 1579760] Re: Protocol RC-6 no longer available for soundgraph imon (15c2:ffdc)

2016-06-18 Thread Jord Swart
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

** Description changed:

  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description:  Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
  Release:  16.04

  $ apt-cache policy ir-keytable
  ir-keytable:
Installed: 1.10.0-1
Candidate: 1.10.0-1
Version table:
   *** 1.10.0-1 500
  500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  == What used to happen in older releases:
  In older versions of ir-keytable I was able to set my soundgraph imon
(15c2:ffdc) to use protocol RC-6.

  The way I did it was by changing the file:
  /lib/udev/rc_keymaps/imon_pad

  and make the first line look like:
  # table imon_pad, type: RC-6

  == What actually happens in the current release:
  In the 16.04 release of Ubuntu this is no longer possible. The output of
ir-keytable also doesn't list the RC-6 protocol as available.

  $ sudo ir-keytable
  Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event4) with:
Driver imon, table rc-imon-pad
Supported protocols: other
Enabled protocols:
Name: iMON Remote (15c2:ffdc)
bus: 3, vendor/product: 15c2:ffdc, version: 0x
Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 125 ms

  With the "other" protocol enabled my arrow keys deliver double key
  clicks, so clicking up once actually moves the cursor two lines up (in
  kodi that is).

  Forcing the device to RC-6 with:
  $ sudo echo RC-6 > /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols

  fixes the double clicks.

  == What should happen in the current release:
  IMHO ir-keytable should actually list RC-6 as a protocol for this (specific)
device and it should be relatively easy to assign this protocol. Either by
using ir-keytable, or updating the imon_pad file.

[Bug 1594025] Re: package nginx-core 1.9.3-1ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: sub-processo script post-installation instalado retornou estado de saída de erro 1

2016-06-18 Thread Thomas Ward
The error log here indicates that something on your system removed
/etc/nginx/nginx.conf and that is why the service cannot start.

The way to solve this is to restore the default configuration file.

(1) Back up any configurations in /etc/nginx/sites-available and
/etc/nginx/sites-enabled you wish to keep.

(2) sudo apt-get purge nginx nginx-common nginx-core

2016-06-18 Thread David Anderson
Another machine with xfce and GTX750 (one of them) runs 352.63 X86-64
 3.19.0-61-generic #69~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 9 09:09:13 UTC 2016 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
runs the 340.24-1 nvidia-modprobe and X works find. Boinc works.

Software update on each says software is up to date. but
they are not on the same kernel, I have
no idea why.

[Bug 1434508] Re: PDL::Stats::Basic needs to be recompiled against the newly installed PDL

2016-06-18 Thread Bas Couwenberg
This is fixed in libpdl-stats-perl (0.75-1~exp1) available in Debian
experimental.

Ubuntu should pick up these changes after pdl (1:2.016-1) & libpdl-
stats-perl (0.75-1) are uploaded to Debian unstable.

dh_pdl is now used to set the pdl dependencies, which should include
libpdl-stats-perl in pdl transitions whenever the virtual pdlapi package
changes. See:
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-perl/packages/libpdl-stats-perl.git/commit/?id=aa988596280e9464820c039466f4e44db5462b46

[Bug 1434570] Re: 64-bit BOINC crashes with ever NVidia driver

2016-06-18 Thread David Anderson
Should have said:
Xubuntu shows available drivers (nvidia) as 352.63 and 340.96.

nvidia-modprobe is shown (by synaptic) as 340.24-1

[Bug 1593989] Re: snap installed .desktops collide with .deb installed .desktops in unity7

2016-06-18 Thread Doug McMahon
If a solution is crafted it may be worth checking against the scenario
where snap/snapd/unity7 creates a .desktop in
~/.local/share/applications.

Atm it seems the first run of a snap installed app checks application folders
in the default path for .desktops where the Exec= line contains the binary
name. If found it uses/displays that .desktop in the launcher.
If not found *I think* it displays the snap's .desktop & if then locked to the
launcher creates the aforementioned .desktop.
This .desktop is truncated & the Exec= line maybe problematic if that app is
later installed from a .deb.

Ex. of the one created for vlc, the Exec= line is standard first bin in
$PATH & the Path= line seemingly ineffective

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=VLC media player
Icon=vlc
Path=/snap/vlc/5
Exec=vlc
StartupNotify=false
StartupWMClass=vlc
OnlyShowIn=Unity;
X-UnityGenerated=true

[Bug 1434570] Re: 64-bit BOINC crashes with ever NVidia driver

2016-06-18 Thread David Anderson
Xubuntu 14.04. This really bites as of 3.13.0-88 #135. X86_64
Installing nvidia drivers via additional drivers menu works and X works
so I have a desktop.

No matter which nvidia I select. But boinc cannot see my pair
of GTX-760 GPUs

If I install nvidia-modprobe then X no longer comes up.
ssh from another machine works.

What have had to do after every recent kernel update (because
X would not come up after reboot) was

sudo apt-get purge 'nvidea*'
reboot (now in nouveau),
if necessary twice to get clean shutdown.

Using additional drivers, select one nvidia or another.
reboot (now in nvidia),
if necessary twice to get clean shutdown.

Boinc would not see the GPUS.
sudo apt-get install nvidia-modprobe
(which installs a 340 modprobe, rather old)
reboot.

But now as of 3.13.0-88 #135. X86_64
the nvidia modprobe kills X. No desktop.
