Probably was never built in Debian. But regardless, gnome-video-arcade

[Bug 1600092] Re: radeon: monitor connected to onboard VGA doesn't work with Xenial

2016-07-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Tags added: bios-outdated-f7 cherry-pick

** Description changed:

- [In comments on 1579481 I mentioned that I had found and cherry-picked a
- fix from upstream. I was asked to file another bug so that my hardware
- information could be compared. apport will show kernel version 4.4.0-24
- but the issue is reproducible on 4.4.0-28 as well-- just didn't want to
- uninstall my fixed version in order to post my hardware info.]
-
- I have an AMD based desktop system with onboard/APU graphics. I have a
- monitor which had been hooked up via DVI until yesterday. Picked up a
- nice refurbished monitor which I plugged in to the onboard DVI port, and
- moved the other monitor to the VGA port. Ubuntu recognizes it but it
- does not show anything. Monitor works fine during initial boot/BIOS.
+ Ubuntu recognizes the VGA monitor it but it does not show anything.
+ Monitor works fine during initial boot/BIOS.

  dmesg says:
-
  [3.311243] [drm] Initialized radeon 2.43.0 20080528 for :00:01.0 on
minor 0
  [ 16.843630] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* clock recovery
reached max voltage
  [ 16.843663] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* clock recovery
failed

- Searching for those errors I found bug 1579481 which says it is fixed
- upstream, so I went searching for which commit might have fixed it, and
- I found this one:
+ Fix commit:

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/c8213a638f65bf487c10593c216525952cca3690

I built a packaged kernel from xenial git source plus that one commit,
and when I boot that kernel, the monitor in the VGA port works fine.
- Probably worth adding that commit to the official Xenial kernel since
- others stated that the issue is a regression.

[Bug 1579699] Re: lxlock terminates/crashes the session instead of screenlocking

2016-07-07 Thread Anton Melser
Hi,

I just wanted to report that the session crashes I was experiencing appear to
have been transitory, and I am no longer able to reproduce. If it returns I
will attempt to gather some further low-level info - I didn't confirm with
strace or anything but all of the system characteristics described above apply
to mine also.
Thanks,
Anton

[Bug 1600102] [NEW] Readline combinations in ghci are broken

2016-07-07 Thread Constantine
Public bug reported:

After upgrade 14.04 → 16.04, none of readline combinations works in
ghci. Instead «Ctrl+c» produces «^C», «Ctrl+d» → «^D», «Ctrl+f» → «^F»,
tab inserts itself instead of completion, and etc.

The combinations still works e.g. in python3, so it's something specific
to ghci.

[Bug 1413440] Re: USB stops working after a while (xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Timeout while waiting for setup device command)

2016-07-07 Thread Rocko
Does this bug happen for people after a USB drive has spun down and the
computer tries to access it? My USB freezing issue goes away if I
disable UAS for a particular drive. It works fine with UAS until it
spins down but the USB subsystem freezes when it tries to spin it up,
requiring me to reboot the PC and power cycle the drive.

To disable UAS for the drive, first find its identifier with the lsbusb
command. For example mine looks like this, ie with identifier 1058:1230:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 1058:1230 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My
Book

Add a file like /etc/modprobe.d/usb_storage.conf with the contents and
the appropriate identifier:

options usb_storage quirks=1058:1230:u

and run "sudo update-initramfs -u -k all" and reboot.

[Bug 1600095] [NEW] Nemo doesn't show directory of mounted dieectory

2016-07-07 Thread be4truth
Public bug reported:

I am having a problem on an Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit fully updated as of 8th
July 2016 with Nemo 2.8.7-2~webu amd64 .

I have a second harddrive mounted in fstab:
UUID=1a7c6b28-9d62-428c-a2f1-00ca43cbbcf7 /media/data ext4 defaults 0 0

In nautilus I can see this directory but in nemo not. Before in nemo I could
also see this but it looks to me that one update caused this. All other
directories are fine only this one is not. Once I go via a shortcut in the 2nd
level directory on /media/data I see folders again but I am not able to list
media/data.
In the terminal and nautilus all works fine.
Any idea what is wrong or is this a bug?
Any help appreciated.

[Bug 1600092] [NEW] radeon: monitor connected to onboard VGA doesn't work with Xenial

2016-07-07 Thread Aaron Peromsik
Public bug reported:

[In comments on 1579481 I mentioned that I had found and cherry-picked a
fix from upstream. I was asked to file another bug so that my hardware
information could be compared. apport will show kernel version 4.4.0-24
but the issue is reproducible on 4.4.0-28 as well-- just didn't want to
uninstall my fixed version in order to post my hardware info.]

I have an AMD based desktop system with onboard/APU graphics. I have a
monitor which had been hooked up via DVI until yesterday. Picked up a
nice refurbished monitor which I plugged in to the onboard DVI port, and
moved the other monitor to the VGA port. Ubuntu recognizes it but it
does not show anything. Monitor works fine during initial boot/BIOS.

dmesg says:

[3.311243] [drm] Initialized radeon 2.43.0 20080528 for :00:01.0 on
minor 0
[ 16.843630] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* clock recovery
reached max voltage
[ 16.843663] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* clock recovery failed

Searching for those errors I found bug 1579481 which says it is fixed
upstream, so I went searching for which commit might have fixed it, and
I found this one:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/c8213a638f65bf487c10593c216525952cca3690

I built a packaged kernel from xenial git source plus that one commit,
and when I boot that kernel, the monitor in the VGA port works fine.
Probably worth adding that commit to the official Xenial kernel since
others stated that the issue is a regression.

What can be done to further investigate this bug? It causes frequent
MAAS deployment failures in our environment. I believe this bug should
be critical or high, since it blocks Landscape Autopilot from
successfully installing an Openstack cloud.

[Bug 1541392] Re: AR3011 Bluetooth not starting after being stoped (but detected)

2016-07-07 Thread Michael Paulson
With a fresh install of 16.04 on HP 4430s laptop, I have this same issue. BT
worked before I setup my wireless network, and then didn't. I also can confirm
the workaround above of shutting down the laptop, removing power(battery as
well), seems to correct the issue. Fixes tried:
1. uninstalled and reinstalled bluetooth
2. echo "options ath9k btcoex_enable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
3. installed mainline kernel 4.6.3-040603-generic via dpkg -i
4. tried workaround above--seemed to correct, but for how long?

Steps to reproduce:
1. put laptop into suspended mode
2. Bluetooth icon shows on status bar, but will not reconnect
3. rebooted--> BT still Broken
4. shutdown laptop and removed all power
5. BT corrected

Attached BT_Issue_corrected.txt which shows when issue is occrring and when
working(working part on bottom:
1. While the issue was occurring created BT_Issue.txt--> hciconfig >
BT_Issue.txt, lsmod >> BT_Issue.txt, lsusb, dmesg | grep -i blue, lspci
2. While the issue was corrected created BT_Issue_corrected.txt--> hciconfig >
BT_Issue.txt, lsmod >> BT_Issue.txt, lsusb >> BT_Issue.txt, dmesg | grep -i
blue >> BT_Issue.txt, lspci >> BT_Issue.txt

[Bug 1581913] Re: touchpad not working or recognized (ASUS UX305)

2016-07-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Kelley, as per https://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks/ASUS-ZenBook-
UX305CA/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy, insecure,
and outdated BIOS is available (300). When you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1573648] Re: 16.04 -> AMD APU via VGA gives blank screen

As I mentioned on 1579481: The commit below (also from upstream) fixes
this for me. Hadn't noticed the one mentioned above... I only cherry-
picked this one on top of current xenial git source. Would be nice to
see this commit find its way into official Xenial kernels.

Confirmed: typing this on my second screen, connected via VGA, after
cherry-picking the commit I linked to in #28. Without that commit the
second screen was recognized but remained dark while connected to the
VGA port of my Kaveri-based desktop. Same monitor had been fine when

[Bug 1599051] Re: package shim-signed 1.16~14.04.1+0.8-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script was killed by signal (Terminated)

2016-07-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package shim-signed - 1.17

---
shim-signed (1.17) yakkety; urgency=medium

  * update-secureboot-policy: rework setting capabilities to stop having
the backup capability while showing an error message; which won't affect
the Dialog debconf frontend but otherwise made the GTK frontend confusing.
  * update-secureboot-policy: all debconf prompts should be at priority
critical: there is no good default to pick, we must prompt the user.
  * debian/templates: make the password inputs be standard inputs; this is an
unfortunate workaround to aptdaemon not having access to the debconf
password database on desktop; since the frontend runs as an unprivileged
user. See bug LP#1599981 (LP: #1599051)

[Bug 1581913] Re: touchpad not working or recognized (ASUS UX305)

2016-07-07 Thread Kelley
** Description changed:

+ (8/7/16) My touchpad was once working and now it has stopped again. I'm
+ still using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
+
**Update: I have since installed version 16.04 of Ubuntu and this is
what my terminal brings up. I have no idea what this means considering I
am currently using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS as I type this. The OS is working
fine as far as I can tell. However, my touchpad is now working. Going
forward for the Linux community, it is my recommendation that anyone
with an ASUS Zenbook UX305 upgrade to 16.04 LTS in order to avoid the
bug found in 14.04 so their touchpads actually work with the Ubuntu OS.

[Bug 1600071] [NEW] [SRU] Please backport 2.6.6+dfsg1-12 to Xenial

2016-07-07 Thread Nish Aravamudan
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

[Test Case]

[Regression Potential]

---

Note testing is needed to ensure the 2.6.6+dfsg1-12 version is actually
fully functional (I've already found and submitted one bug to Debian).

Ideally, Debian will resolve https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=813549 and we can sync that version instead (which
doesn't have the aforementioned bug).

[Bug 1578011] Re: Laptop sometimes doesn't detect external monitor when docked

2016-07-07 Thread vik
I can try to update the BIOS, but given that the BIOS release notes (see
below) don't mention anything regarding this, it's not likely to fix
anything. The issue disappeared for a while, but has returned in the
past month or so; I'm guess a kernel driver update fixed it, then
regressed.

BIOS 1.29 release notes:
[Important updates]
  Nothing.

[New functions or enhancements]
- Updated Realtek v2.06 PXE rom and v2.016 UNDI driver.

[Problem fixes]
  Nothing.

[Bug 1600064] [NEW] another failed grub install with 16.04

2016-07-07 Thread Doug Glenn
Public bug reported:

I thought the problem was uefi related so I made sure to have a small
fat32 partition at the very beginning but unfortunately I could find no
way to add in the boot flag to it during the 16.04 install process. It
is possible that uefi failed since there was no boot flag.

[Bug 1595485] Re: packages to remove from yakkety

2016-07-07 Thread Steve Langasek
Please note that in general, there is no need to file a bug to request
removal of a source package that has been removed in Debian; these will
be picked up for semi-automated removal via the 'process-removals'
script from ubuntu-archive-tools.

(In practice, this bug tipped me off to the fact that my runs were for
some reason using stale Debian Packages files, so thanks!)

What's generally more useful is to fix those packages that still depend
on the to-be-removed packages, so that the archive admins don't have to
track these reverse-dependencies down before removing.

This modem require configuration loaded in order to work. One of the
options is loading Windows, waiting while it configure modem and then

Other option is described here: https://abarouski.blogspot.com/2016/07

This solution not yet in upstream (but I'm working on it).

[Bug 1600057] [NEW] Sender Display Name with comm appears as two senders

2016-07-07 Thread Link Porterfield
Public bug reported:

Symptom sounds similar to that described in Bug 1166206
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1166206

When email sender display name contains a comma, it appears as if it
were sent from two senders.

Example:

Message source: From: Something, Something Darkside

Thunderbird: From Something <>, Something Darkside

I had 38.8.0 from trusty-updates installed when I noticed this problem
and added the thunderbird-next PPA to see if it had been fixed. The
symptom still persists.

[Bug 1554613] Re: Screen flickers on XPS 13 9350/9550 (Intel Skylake/Broadwell GPU)

2016-07-07 Thread Thiago Martins
I'm on 4.4.0-28-generic (Xenial), problem still here.

A good website to test it, is TradingView:

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/7ipqeH3N/

Google Chrome window flickers a lot! Especially if you really use the
above website, by login in, clicking on its functions, pop-up windows
and etc...

Hardware is a Macbook Pro, end-2015.

[Bug 1599874] Re: no rear sound creative sound blaster Z ssid: 1102:0023

2016-07-07 Thread Olcay Korkmaz
Hi,

as windows and freebsd did work with generic driver so I disabled ca0132
enabled pure generic module (no fancy patch_ca0132.c)
here is generic driver's alsa-info and details

pin configs detected correctly and same as windows/freebsd pinconfigs
but ca0132 detects wrong pin numbers

headphone(front) and rear jack sensation works with ubuntu-sound-
settings but no sound from both sides

** Attachment added: "generic driver"
