[Bug 1607188] [NEW] Unplugging headphones but sound still played through headphones
Public bug reported: Dear all, Sometimes it happens that headphones remain the main output device in the sound system settings (see attached screenshot) after having unplugged them from the audio jack port. [Bug 1607190] [NEW] Feature request: activate screensaver, keep access to media player hotkeys

[Bug 1548009] Re: ZFS pools should be automatically scrubbed
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + Xenial shipped with a cron job to automatically scrub ZFS pools, as + desired by many users and as implemented by mdadm for traditional Linux + software RAID. Unfortunately, this cron job does not work, because it needs a PATH line for /sbin, where the zpool utility lives. + + Given the existence of the cron job and various discussions on IRC, etc., + users expect that scrubs are happening, when they are not. This means ZFS + is not pre-emptively checking for (and correcting) corruption. The odds of + disk corruption are admittedly very low, but violating users' expectations + of data safety, especially when they've gone out of their way to use a + filesystem which touts data safety, is bad. + + [Test Case] + + $ truncate -s 1G test.img + $ sudo zpool create test `pwd`/test.img + $ sudo zpool status test + + $ sudo vi /etc/cron.d/zfsutils-linux + Modify /etc/cron.d/zfsutils-linux to run the cron job in a few minutes + (modifying the date range if it's not currently the 8th through the 14th + and the "-eq 0" check if it's not currently a Sunday). + + $ grep zfs /var/log/cron.log + Verify in /var/log/cron.log that the job ran. + + $ sudo zpool status test + + Expected results: + scan: scrub repaired 0 in ... on + + Actual results: + scan: none requested + + Then, add the PATH line, update the time rules in the cron job, and repeat + the test. Now it will work. + + - OR - + + The best test case is to leave the cron job file untouched, install the + patched package, wait for the second Sunday of the month, and verify with + zpool status that a scrub ran. I did this, on Xenial, with the package I + built. The debdiff is in comment #11 and was accepted to Yakkety. + + If someone can get this in -proposed before the 14th, I'll gladly install + the actual package from -proposed and make sure it runs correctly on the + 14th. + + [Regression Potential] + + The patch only touches the cron.d file, which has only one cron job in it. + This cron job is completely broken (inoperative) at the moment, so the + regression potential is very low. + + + + ORIGINAL, PRE-SRU, DESCRIPTION: + mdadm automatically checks MD arrays. ZFS should automatically scrub pools too. Scrubbing a pool allows ZFS to detect on-disk corruption and (when the pool has redundancy) correct it. Note that ZFS does not blindly assume the other copy is correct; it will only overwrite bad data with data that is known to be good (i.e. it passes the checksum). I've attached a debdiff which accomplishes this. It builds and installs cleanly. The meat of it is the scrub script I've been using on production systems, both servers and laptops, and recommending in my Ubuntu root- on-ZFS HOWTO, for years, which scrubs all *healthy* pools. If a pool is not healthy, scrubbing it is bad for two reasons: 1) It adds a lot of disk load which could theoretically lead to another failure. We should save that disk load for resilvering. 2) Performance is already less on a degraded pool and scrubbing can make that worse, even though scrubs are throttled. Arguably, I might be being too conservative here, but the marginal benefit of scrubbing a *degraded* pool is pretty minimal as pools should not be left degraded for very long. The cron.d in this patch scrubs on the second Sunday of the month. mdadm scrubs on the first Sunday of the month. This way, if a system has both MD and ZFS pools, the load doesn't all happen at the same time. If the system doesn't have both types, it shouldn't really matter which week. If you'd rather make it the same week as MD, I see no problem with that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1548009 Title: ZFS pools should be automatically scrubbed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1548009/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1604322] Re: The SSID gets connected directly without password entered properly in WiFi list
I did not digg into Unity8 and qmenumodel too much but in ${unity8_srctop}/qml/Wizard/Pages/30-wifi.qml, LocalComponents.Page { readonly property bool connected: Connectivity.online Component { id: accessPointComponent ListItem { readonly property bool isConnected: menuData && menuData.actionState onClicked: { unityMenuModel.activate(menuIndex); } } } Component { id: forwardButton LocalComponents.StackButton { text: (connected || listview.count === 0) ? i18n.tr("Next") : i18n.tr("Skip") onClicked: pageStack.next() } } Many irrelevant lines removed. So from above source code you see the forwardButton becomes "Next" when `Connectivity.online` evaluates to true, but the list items become "connected" when the `menuData.actionState` is valid. The latter is obviously wrong because its state is changed by the call `unityMenuModel.activate(menuIndex)`, which is always executed on item being clicked. [Bug 1607169] [NEW] Youtube Videos in Video Scope are not working
Public bug reported: I have a Meizu MX4 running the OTA-12 update as of this morning and since OTA-9 I think clicking on a youtube in the video, music or youtube scope doesn't do anything. Normally one would get a preview of the youtube video along with a discription below and then you could click the video again and the web browser would start up and play the video. This still works for videos on Vimeo but not on Youtube. This has been broken for months now. It also happens as mention in the Music scope and Youtube scope. I was hopng that this would have been fixed with the OTA-12 update since this update focused on bugs and that you now could play videos directly from the Video scope. But sadly no... Has there been an API change with Youtube that caused this breakage maybe? ** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: music scope video youtube -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1607169 Title: Youtube Videos in Video Scope are not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+bug/1607169/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1590765] Re: OSK flickers and buttons are sometimes invisble
This is confusing because there are two different fixes in series 0.23 for the same bug. A more accurate description of release 0.23.5 would be that we updated the fix for bug 1590765 and turned on NBS again. Although with series 0.24 coming very soon, I would recommend not doing that. We shouldn't be enabling major new features in a stable point release. [Bug 1604322] Re: The SSID gets connected directly without password entered properly in OOBE WiFi list
@lukas-kde, the password doesn't exist on the device ever because it's a newly flashed device. Besides, even somehow the device did not remove the password after the flash process, which I don't really think so, then NetworkManager should have begin the connecting process and automatically connects the AP in a given short time period and indicator icon and the skip/next label should reflect this truth, but this just __doesnot__ happen. It's not about the password. Please focus on the entry connection state not being synced with indicator and skip/next label only. [Bug 1606103] Re: modeset driver is missing some modes that the intel driver had
In the KMS world (kernel mode setting) the kernel maintains the list of real modes available. Previously (where Xorg drivers would communicate with the hardware directly), the kernel was less involved and the Xorg driver would invent the in-between modes mostly to support CRT monitors which don't have a specific native resolution. And also for legacy support just so that people don't complain that the list of modes has shrunken. In the "modern" KMS world however we (and the kernel) recognise that LCDs only have one real resolution and one preferred (highest) refresh rate. So you will sometimes see the kernel being brutally honest and reporting one/few modes. This is reasonable because using anything other than the native mode will make the image on an LCD blurry. In an ideal world you would always use the native mode of the LCD panel and just scale things up in software if they're too small. But I know Unity7 still doesn't quite do that as well as we'd like it to... Another reason is slightly harder to explain; external monitors continue to report they support more modes than internal laptop LCD panels. They just tell us over the wire that they can do more. Which is not a software decision. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1606103 Title: modeset driver is missing some modes that the intel driver had To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1606103/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1605433] Re: [Dell Alienware 17R3] enable/disable touchpad not working
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: The touchpad does not work as expected. It can't be enabled or disabled through FN+F11 combination. The light (in the pad) always turns on, regardless of its non functionality. The problem seems related to bug #1523738, and some say solution #24 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1523738/comments/24) works, but it didn't for me. [Bug 1586573] Re: apt-mirror not getting by-hash directories
I've been hacking at a copy of apt-mirror to make it more InRelease/by- hash aware. The attached script is *not* fit for general use, but I was able to create a local xenial mirror with it (N.B. it will download ALL sources and ALL binary arches that can be found on the mirror it's pointed at, I have to go back and restore the more selective behaviour the script used to have). Please treat it as 'for study only'! Script behaviour: Following the algorithm near the bottom of http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~cjwatson/blog/no-more-hash-sum-mismatch-errors.html : - The script downloads the InRelease files first, and then attempts to fetch each of the index files listed inside each InRelease. Importantly, it attempts to download their by-hash equivalent file at the same time. -- Note that this covers dep-11 and translations because they are listed in the InRelease file, so special handling for those files in apt-mirror is removed. -- Not all mirrors will carry all index files or architectures. The script used to handle this, and continues to do so. -- The list of index files to fetch from InRelease is probably where the 'better filtering' should be restored in a proper version of this script. - Then for each successfully fetched index file, it looks to see if its by-hash equivalent is present, and overwrites any normal copy of the file with its by-hash equivalent, unzipping in the process. - Index files are then processed as normal, collecting further files (debs etc) to download. Also note that when serving up the local repository, I've found it necessary to configure apache with mod_rewrite rules to serve up e.g. Components-amd64.yml if only Components-amd64.yml.gz exists in the mirror (apt doesn't seem to look for the .gz version first, but I could be mistaken). ** Attachment added: "Script Work In Progress" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-mirror/+bug/1586573/+attachment/4708359/+files/apt-mirror -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586573 Title: apt-mirror not getting by-hash directories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-mirror/+bug/1586573/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
