I also had shared folders fail to work after I upgraded from Ubuntu
14.04 to 16.04 LTS and installed the tools. I'm not sure if it's related

Aravind Gopal, I think you should try a fresh install. I have a Epson
L355 working fine and Google Earth x64 working with a small issue
(sometimes it closes right after launching, but on the 2nd time it
works...).
