I'm facing the same issue on my laptop after an upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10. I
tried:
* grub-install
* boot-repair
Neither worked. I also tried installing the mainline linux kernel
(4.9-rc1), that didn't help either. As others have mentioned, this is
probably something in grub, not necessarily

The checksum mismatch happens with every kernel version, so I don't

James, are you sure that /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglfw.so comes from
libglfw-dev package?
First, the libglfw-dev should have only include files (and maybe static
library), plus documentation. Doesn't the library come from libglfw2?
Second, the package should include fully qualified
I have noticed as well, that sometimes when i update ubuntu, i get this
near the end of the update:

I fully understand your frustration. The delay here is that there are
multiple bugs, all of which needed verification. The original
submitter(s) did not necessarily respond in a timely fashion in those
bugs to the -proposed version and this slid down my plate. I went

my HP Proliant ML30 Gen9 PC has some sort of built-in software RAID that
requires UEFI.
Installing Ubuntu to the existing Windows "mirrored" drives resulted in not
being able to boot Windows and Ubuntu.
Next I bought a 3rd hard drive, did not set it up with any mirroring
simliar problem with proxy_balancer / slotmem_shm
in my further on configuration with prox_balancer. i figured out a
another start/reboot problem with proxy_balancer configuration.
