I have made a discovery however that will help:
The problem only occurs if the nvidia GPU is disabled in the BIOS and only the
intel one is active.
If the nvidia adapter is enabled in BIOS, then restoring from hibernate works.
I'm not sure why this bug was

thermal trip points, I think the CPU frequency scaling works as
intended.

@operations-8, We had the same issue with Ubuntu 14.04.0, now that I'm
using Ubuntu 14.04.5 I don't have these issues anymore. HTH.
