[Bug 1644806] Re: Proposed shim package will cause system complain "Failed to set MokSBStateRT: (2) Invalid Parameter"

2016-11-28 Thread Ivan Hu
This issue is caused by the Dell machines have already embedded the
MokSBStatesRT variable with EFI_VARIABLE_NON_VOLATILE attribute, and the
new shim-signed 1.21.4 include the patch which will mirror the
MokSBStatesRT when MokSBState exists, see the
https://github.com/rhinstaller/shim/commit/8f1bd605d05077a76502de5510cc937c4f4c62dd,
and it causes the setvariable MokSBStatesRT failed because it has
already existed with different attribute.

Attached the patch which can be used to solve this issue by checking the
MokSBStateRT existence and deleting it before mirroring it.

This patch had been sent to upstream and wait for feedback.

2016-11-28 Thread Stefan Krause-Kjær
I have the same issue currently in a Virtual Box VM (5.1.10)

I did start the check for update manually, after selecting that I wanted to

I've attached the /var/log/apt/term.log file as requested from the other

[Bug 1645595] [NEW] Network status monitor doesn't save interface name

2016-11-28 Thread Dmitry
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Add "Network status monitor" applet to the panel
2) It will use eth0 which is not available with modern kernels
3) Click on the "Network status monitor" icon, configuration dialog will appear
4) Select "ens33" as a network interface

Result: "Network status monitor" will start to monitor ens33 and it
looks like it works fine.

Now logout/reboot.

Result: "Network status monitor" reverts to eth0.

[Bug 1638517] Re: Mir-backed InputDeviceModel doesn’t work on touch device

2016-11-28 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Nice catch Lorn! This is a nasty one. I would have expected that the
value of the count property would be updated *before* the countChanged
signal is emitted, regardless of the name of the parameter of the
signal.

So I just verified that if I do that, this works:

import QtQuick 2.4
import QtSystemInfo 5.5
Item {
  InputDeviceModel {
filter: InputInfo.Keyboard
onCountChanged: console.log("keyboard count:", devices)
  }
}

However I’m wary of using that just yet, in case you decide to change
the name of the parameter to 'count', my code would break. Please let me
know if you plan to do so, and I’ll just hold off.

Also, the warning about object ownership and threads is still present. I
think it should be investigated, as it’s usually a good indicator that
something is not architected correctly.

[Bug 1638836] Re: resolv.conf for resolved stub server should have a comment how to see the actual servers

2016-11-28 Thread Martin Pitt
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/foundations-y-local-
resolver has the two outstanding issues to switch NM over to resolved
too. These are unblocked now: the new resolved DNS plugin is in upstream
master since around September, and NM 1.4 landed in zesty-proposed
yesterday. Let's land that first, then backport the DNS plugin and
switch it over, then we'll consistently use resolved everywhere and that
comment will be much easier to write.

This is also the reason why I didn't do this comment change yet, I think
it's better to wait for the above.

[Bug 1520979] Re: Grub multiboot is unable to load Xen under EFI

2016-11-28 Thread Fake Name
What part of this is "fixed"?

Anyways, xen can apparently support efi-booting as a efi executable
directly, but for some reason ubuntu doesn't ship the "xen.efi" (see
https://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Xen_EFI)?

While I understand that fixing this is kind of out of the scope of the
ubuntu packager people, at least mark it "wontfix" or something.

[Bug 1645556] [NEW] Yakkety: transcode is not available, but is referred to by another package.

2016-11-28 Thread Dave Chiluk
Public bug reported:

In Yakkety / 16.10

sudo apt-get install transcode
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package transcode is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

Looks like the package didn't get copied into yakkety's archive? This
package is a requirement for mythtv-frontend.

[Bug 1627239] Re: Web pages not rendering with e10s enabled and AppArmor profile in enforce mode

2016-11-28 Thread Sami Jaktholm
If you are running in complain mode you could look at the audit log and
see what AppArmor complains about when you are browsing the web with
e10s enabled. If you see AppArmor complaining about Firefox accessing
some specific paths, those might be causing he issues you are seeing.

[Bug 1645555] [NEW] Dropbear initramfs hook creates authorized_keys file in an invalid folder

2016-11-28 Thread Ibrahim Karahan
Public bug reported:

Dropbear initramfs hook copies `/etc/initramfs-
tools/root/.ssh/authorized_keys` into initramfs for passwordless login
during boot.

The script responsible is `/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dropbear`.
The destination folder is set at line 37:

`home=$(mktemp -d "$DESTDIR/root-XX")`

which ends up creating a temp directory in initramfs file, similar to
`/root-hZQ48a`, instead of `/root`. Dropbear fails to find
`/root/.ssh/authorized_keys` at boot and does not allow remote logins.

See the contents of a generated initrd with:
`cd `mktemp -d` && gzip -dc /boot/initrd.img-`uname -r` | cpio -ivd`

Setting the $home variable with the following lines should solve the issue:
```
home="$DESTDIR/root"
mkdir -p $home
```

[Bug 1641549] Re: migrate lxc android container to lxd

2016-11-28 Thread Vicamo Yang
** Description changed:

  Several things to do here:
  * include lxd, lxd-client in default installation,
  * writable path for lxd: lxd resides at /var/lib/lxd and it takes write
permission to fully function,
  * migrate lxc tmpfs-based rootfs to lxd image, lxc configs to lxd profiles,
etc.,
  * migrate systemd service definitions, etc.

  [Steps to reproduce current setup]

  0. rebuild avila kernel with additional patches from
  https://code.launchpad.net/~vicamo/avila/+git/kernel-3.10/+merge/310849
, or just use the prebuilt one in the attachments.

  1. follow bug 1641505 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-
system-image/+bug/1641505/comments/2 to enable adbd emergency mode and
  disable current lxc-based android container.

  2. add /var/lib/lxd to writable paths, install lxd and lxd-client, and
then reboot the device so that writable path may take effect.

  3. initialize lxd. This can take a while (2 minutes for me).

    $ sudo lxd init --auto

- 4. run lxd image create script to create the android lxd image.
-
- $ ./lxd-image-create.sh
-
- 5. create an ephemeral container for debug:
-
-   $ lxc init -e -p android android armhf
-   $ lxc start armhf
+ 4. apply changes from https://code.launchpad.net/~vicamo/lxc-android-
+ config/lxd-migration/+merge/311103 . This cause the system to
+ automatically import android initrd as an lxd image and to start it up
+ on boot.

Not sure if I'm commenting on the right bug, since I'm using Unity not

after resuming from suspend. This is on Ubuntu 16.04; there were no
problems back with 14.04.

[Bug 1645548] [NEW] click cannot correctly install clicks that have special version format

2016-11-28 Thread Zhang Enwei
Public bug reported:

I am using click 0.4.43+16.04.20160203-0ubuntu2 in arm64 environment
while building arm 64bit custom tarball(https://jenkins.canonical.com
/ues-phone/job/arm64-custom-tarball-test/)

I found this click cannot install below click correctly.
com.ubuntu.scopes.youtube_1.5.1-154_arm64.click

The apparmor profile it generated is
click_com.ubuntu.scopes.youtube_youtube_1.5.1-
while the expected should be
click_com.ubuntu.scopes.youtube_youtube_1.5.1-154

The apparmor json file is generated as
com.ubuntu.scopes.youtube_youtube_1.5.1-.json
while the expected should be
com.ubuntu.scopes.youtube_youtube_1.5.1-154.json

We don't have this issue on armhf(vivid).
Thanks.

[Bug 1638517] Re: Mir-backed InputDeviceModel doesn’t work on touch device

2016-11-28 Thread Lorn Potter
@osomon The reason you are seeing this not work correctly, is because
the value for countChanged signal is named 'devices' in the declarative
class, and not 'count' like what is in the base class and that you are
using in your qml example.

This should probably get changed in the declarative class to match the
base class.

** Description changed:

Webpages like economictimes.indiatimes.com , opening of inner links in
ndtv.com , at times dinamalar.com etc.,. did not open and mostly
resulted in request time out. It opened after 10 or 15 minutes gap when
refreshed. Changing the dns in netgear wifi modem to google dns,
verisign dns, open dns or auto obtain dns did not solve the problem.

- Atlast found out that Wifi Network MTU size Auto as default was causing
- this request time out.
+ Atlast found out that Wifi Network MTU size Automatic as default was
+ causing this request time out.

Now after putting a MTU size value manually for wifi network lower than
the MTU size value configured in wifi modem, all the above webpages
  opens.

  Presently using Ubuntu 16.10

Kindly make auto MTU size setting for wifi network to first probe mtu
size of wifi modem and set a slightly lower value thant that as MTU.

Reporting this to make Ubuntu user friendly even for newbies.

2016-11-28 Thread Aron Xu
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ A list of missing files from opencc package makes opencc and libopencc2 does
not work correctly for its consumers (fcitx-rime, ibus-rime). For example, when
using fcitx-rime, fcitx would print the
+ following error message onto stderr once the user tries to switch to
+ input Simplified Chinese in Rime (Selecting *月拼音:简化字):
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ After installing the updated package, fcitx-rime would not print error
+ messages when user tries to switch to input Simplified Chinese in Rime.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ This updated package would introduce an additional binary call librime-
+ data, which is actually backported from version 1.0.4-2 in Debian and
+ Ubuntu Zesty, potential of regression is low.
+
+
== Description from Debian bug ==

[Bug 1628478] Re: Mir servers crash when using the Nvidia driver

2016-11-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
We always try to keep the oldest bug open unless for some reason there
is dramatically better information in the newer duplicate. So this one
stays the main bug. Bug 1643420 is 'closed' by simply being a duplicate
of this one.

[Bug 1645352] Re: No HDMI output after upgrade to 16.04!

2016-11-28 Thread EDEMPCO
Thanks Brian for the suggestion.

Sorry, the only "package" that I can guess that it could be xorg. I have
attempted to get help in the IRC chat at FreeNode, but instead I got
just questions. I asked for assistance to identify a package name three
times during a 30 minute session and got no help. So, I'm stuck.

If Ubuntu 16.04 includes the Intel driver and, I've insured that the
driver is correct and, loaded using the Intel Graphics Tool and, checked
the status above ... I don't know what else to do.

[Bug 1611029] Re: hexchat crashed with SIGSEGV in RAND_poll()

2016-11-28 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
This crash report is quite unactionable...
Looking at the stacktrace it seems to be cause by OpenSSL, but,...

Did it happen again? If this is reproducible in any way, would you
please install the debug symbols of hexchat openssl and all the other
relevant libraries and see if you can get something more actionable?
Otherwise I fear there is not much we can do.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug.

[Bug 1645522] [NEW] [SRU] libopencc2: missing files cause librime fail to work

2016-11-28 Thread Aron Xu
Public bug reported:

== Description from Debian bug ==

In Debian unstable, when using fcitx-rime, fcitx would print the
following error message onto stderr once the user tries to switch to
input Simplified Chinese in rime (Selecting *月拼音:简化字):

E0902 23:45:44.494884 6107 simplifier.cc:126] Error initializing
opencc: t2s.json not found or not accessible.

The t2s.json is supposed to be in /usr/share/opencc. To be concrete,
the following missing files may be needed for opencc to work
correctly:

usr/share/
usr/share/opencc/
usr/share/opencc/HKVariants.ocd
usr/share/opencc/HKVariantsPhrases.ocd
usr/share/opencc/HKVariantsRev.ocd

usr/share/opencc/t2s.json
usr/share/opencc/t2tw.json
usr/share/opencc/tw2s.json
usr/share/opencc/tw2sp.json

However, they do not exist in any opencc-related packages
(libopencc-dev, libopencc-dbg (Oh, BTW, please migrate to -dbgsym
package), libopencc2 and opencc).

The solution may be either include those files in a library package,
or pack those files into another separate package.

clearly still open :)
Just run: ubuntu-bug nautilus

[Bug 1645372] Re: support display scaling slider in unity8

2016-11-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This missing piece (if any) in Mir is a 'mir_output_set_scale_factor'
function, to match the existing 'mir_output_get_scale_factor'.

Although Unity8 is a server so might be able to skip that requirement
and just modify the server structure directly.

[Bug 1644670] Re: cannot use tablet mode lid sensor on yoga 460

2016-11-28 Thread Alex Hung
The attached is a proof-of-concept solution - it adds an event
generation (KEY_ROTATE_DISPLAY) in addition to
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/2058487.

Let's try whether this event is generated for userspace and whether it
meets the need. If it does, I will work with upstream on a proper
solution.

[Bug 1497806] Re: Mirrored display broken in Xubuntu

2016-11-28 Thread Saúl
I use Ubuntu Studio 16.04 with XFCE4 4.12 and I had that problem too,
but exploring the "Extend to the right" option and then returning to
"Displays", "Mirror Displays" option is already accessible.
Unfortunately, unplugging the another monitor and plugging it again, may
recquire select first "Extend to the right" to make "Mirror Displays"
accesible again.

This shouldn't matter a thing at all.
If it does, then it's a linker bug, usually.
