Since upgrading to 16.10, I've had an annoying problem with variety.
Now, I don't think the bug is actually with variety, it just shows the
symptoms. Basically, within a couple minutes of setting a new wallpaper
with variety, something in the 16.10 desktop environment sets it

This self-referential symlink causes debsums -c to spin in an (apparently
