[Bug 1663497] [NEW] check for common issues on Failed tests

2017-02-09 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Public bug reported:

Hi,
as all packagers every now and then I debug cases that unexpectedly fail dep8
tests.
All of us especially love issues that at first seems unreproducible locally but
always (or even only sometimes) trigger on Launchpad.

In at least two occasions I had OOM killers kick in and I wondered how
much easier I could have found that if there would be something in the
logs about that.

So I wanted to ask if any of the following would appear reasonable to implement:
1) In the FAIL case making a few default checks and put it to the logs (can be
a dmesg | grep -i oom to start, but I'm sure over time people would come up
with more).

2) dmesg as default test artifact for every Test; run after the test is
over (maybe only on FAIL) and added to artifacts.

3) Now a bit hardcore, but maybe the de-facto super-debug-artifact for
FAIL cases could be to (in that case) install and run sosreport and add
the generated tgz as artifact.

** Affects: autopkgtest (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

- auto-check for oom on Fails
+ check for common issues on Failed tests

[Bug 1663206] Re: Packaging: Enable ppc64el on openvswitch-switch-dpdk in the main archive

2017-02-09 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Fixed as part of:
- https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/2.6.1-0ubuntu5
Deb is at:
-
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/2.6.1-0ubuntu5/+build/11985928/+files/openvswitch-switch-dpdk_2.6.1-0ubuntu5_ppc64el.deb

You should now in zesty be able to use it as discussed.
I wonder why the LP-bug auto-close did not kick in, but it says it is in
release pocket and I could install, so fix Released.

[Bug 1590844] Re: Call with Bluetooth headset not working [Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition]

2017-02-09 Thread akI
There was a small update OTA-15 for my MEIZU Pro5 and i immediately checked out
the bluetooth functionality.
Its still the same issue.

Meanwhile i had installed flymeOS back to my second Pro5 and flymeOS can
receive and send phonecalls nice and clear so this is for sure an ubuntu
issue.

[Bug 1663477] [NEW] [needs-packaging] UKUI desktop environment

2017-02-09 Thread handsome_feng
Public bug reported:

UKUI is a lightweight desktop environment for Ubuntu Kylin. It provides
a simpler and more enjoyable experience for browsing, searching, and
managing your computer. UKUI is a fork of mate desktop environment, so
the packages are also forks from those of mate. We have rewrote the main
user interfaces and changed the conflicts between UKUI and mate. We have
checked that UKUI can coexist with mate and has no effects on other
packages.

Homepage: http://www.ukui.org
Source: https://github.com/ukui
PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntukylin-members/+archive/ubuntu/ukui
 Adding this PPA to your system:
 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntukylin-members/ukui

The packages relationship between UKUI and mate are listed in the following
table:

 ukui-menu   mate-menu
 ukui-panel  mate-panel

[Bug 1582323] Re: Commissioning fails when competing cloud metadata resides on disk

2017-02-09 Thread Scott Moser
In order to verify this on xenial, we'll configure a container to
have cloud-config like MAAS uses on the init command's command line.
Basically, instead of invokin /sbin/init for pid 1, we will use:

/sbin/init cc:{'datasource_list':['MAAS']}end_cc

This is equivalent to booting a full system with the above on the kernel
command line. When inside a container, cloud-init uses pid 1's cmdline
(/proc/1/cmdline) rather than the kernel's cmdline (/proc/cmdline).

Because of this bug, the system will find the NoCloud datasource that
lxc provides even though we told it on the command line to only look at
MAAS. Then, we will update the system with proposed, clean the system
to mimic a pristine "first boot" and reboot.

The second time, the system will fail to find the NoCloud datasource
becaus it correctly responded to the command line arguments telling it to
only look for MAAS datasource.

$ release=xenial
$ name="$release-test"
$ lxc init ubuntu-daily:$release $name

# change pid 1's command line, which is used by cloud-init
# instead of kernel command line inside a container.
$ cmdline="cc:{'datasource_list': ['MAAS']}end_cc"
$ lxc config set $name raw.lxc "lxc.init_cmd=/sbin/init $cmdline"

$ lxc start $name
# sleep
$ sleep 10

## show info about instance
$ lxc exec $name -- dpkg-query --show cloud-init
cloud-init 0.7.8-49-g9e904bb-0ubuntu1~16.04.4

# pid1 has the cmdline shown
$ lxc exec $name -- cat /proc/1/cmdline; echo

{
 "v1": {
  "datasource": "DataSourceNoCloud

[Bug 1655842] Re: "Out of memory" errors after upgrade to 4.4.0-59

2017-02-09 Thread Travisgevans
Don't forget that the earlier kernels are affected by Bug #1647400,
which does something even worse (hang the system). I've verified that it
affected my particular system before 4.4.0-59, and it may explain a
couple of lockups I had previously experienced during normal operation
when using previous kernels. -59 fixes the bug but introduces the
permature OOM kill issue; if it weren't for the kernels currently in
proposed (assuming they indeed fix this bug), I wouldn't really have a
reliable kernel at all to use.

With the 4.4.0-59 kernel, I got hit with two unexplained OOM kills, each
occurring within about 3 days of uptime. I then tested the -62 kernel in
proposed for just under 14 days and didn't see any OOM kills, and I've
now been testing -63 for a couple of days and haven't any issues yet.
However, it might help if anyone has an idea how the OOM kill bug might
be reliably reproduced. “5 working days” isn't very long to reliably be
sure the problem is solved otherwise; it took more than half that time
upon upgrading to -59 for me to hit the bug by chance.

[Bug 1598300] Re: CUPS web interface stops responding after a while

2017-02-09 Thread Michael Pardee
This is a very serious bug that breaks network printing in certain
configurations. To be clear: its not just that cups stops and the web
interface is unavailable - it can lead to not being able to print as
the print server looks like it is offline to the clients:

D [09/Feb/2017:10:07:02 -0600] [Job 12] Connection error: Transport endpoint is
not connected
E [09/Feb/2017:10:07:02 -0600] [Job 12] The printer is not responding.

I was running into this issue on some print servers but not others and in
comparing the two cupsd.conf files I found out I can prevent the issue by
changing
BrowseLocalProtocols CUPS
to
BrowseLocalProtocols dnssd

The real problem here is that a feature like this should have a clear and easy
way to turn if off completely. I don't ever want cups on a print server
stopping to save an insignificant amount of cpu cycles or memory or
electricity!

Applying the packages from xenial-proposed does fix it for me, but in my
opinion this is a pretty serious issue that needs a quicker fix.

I think the best fix at the moment is the suggestion from Andreas Krausz
(kukorica) to change " the option "-l" to "-f" in
/lib/systemd/system/cups.service." as it seems that is the only way to
turn off this "feature".
