Not so important but FYI your link in the description is broken - it
leads me to some weird catching site, not really an emulatortalk.info
with some content.
I like your tests in #12 and #18, but can you think and compare several
permutations of commits to non-active layers? Those
not only that but past a certain size it doesn't even rearanges the
files, so a lot of files are not in the view, probably that's why the
scroolbar don't appear because they are not in view, it's like the view
is clipped

Ok, the workaround with commenting out PrivateUsers=yes from
/lib/systemd/system/fwupd.service worked here, too, on the 17.04 on the
Lenovo Thinkpad x230.
fuwpd is not crashing anymore. But i dont really know what the

upstream comment here is known to work - suggest this as a workaround
until a solution is found:
"As a workaround for the OP, try
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources current 0
at a shell prompt, i.e, Ctrl-Alt-F2. This resets the keyboard layout to
the default."
