Just tried your commits (on top of the Debian pkg) and they seem to fix
the crash for me. I tried on an XPS 13 9350 and on a random desktop
machine. The problem also happened for me in a VM. I didn't try that
patch in there, but that might be a good way for you to try the error
path.

two different tools both necessary for the default core experience of
Ubuntu. One is necessary for Unity 7, the other is necessary for
Nautilus (and other GNOME apps/tools).

Ok, the workaround with commenting out PrivateUsers=yes from
/lib/systemd/system/fwupd.service worked here, too, on the 17.04 on the
Lenovo Thinkpad x230.
fuwpd is not crashing anymore. But i dont really know what the
consequences of this workaround are.

I was using Konsole every time the system crashed. Same thing happened
when I was using dolphin with an active terminal. Gwenview might have
been opened (in the background) as well.
I recently switched to QTerminal and have not had a single crash since
then, not sure if it was fixed in recent
Alt+Up and Alt+Down to switch between tabs in Kate also doesn't work
currently. Could it have the same cause as this Ctrl+C issue?

not only that but past a certain size it doesn't even rearanges the
files, so a lot of files are not in the view, probably that's why the
