I've EFI and a small ext2 boot partition, and the rest of my SDD is a

Same problem here.
In fact, I no longer run Trusty on bare metal ; instead, I run up-to-
date 64bit Trusty userland in a chroot on up-to-date 64bit Yakkety.
The game is playable, except for this exact same power jump
sequence/combo.

I had similar issue with kernel 4.8.0-42. No Network connectivity after
boot, even screen resolution was stuck in 4:3.
Had to go back on 4.8.0-41 and run 'sudo apt-get install linux-generic'
that fixed everything

Testing unity8 on classic desktop, I see that there is an icon in the
app drawer that says "Shutdown" and runs "gnome-session-quit --power-
off"
It's not critical, but it would be nice if we supported the
org.gnome.SessionManager dbus name and intercepted the call, like unity
I was able to log into two different users with unity8 simultaneously.
So that's positive. Maybe this isn't an everybody thing. It might be a
graphics driver issue? Like Mir can't handle it in some cases? Adding
Mir task to see if that's a crazy thought.
