[Bug 653405] Re: rabbitmq-server fails to start if hostname is unresolvable or has changed since first starting

2017-08-05 Thread Caberset
Just for be sure, take a look to your local network

# ip add

If there's no "lo" network, the you should enable it:

# ifconfig lo up

Then restart the server again and let's see if it works again now

# systemctl start rabbitmq-server

2017-08-05 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1705859] Re: ubuntu freezes on suspend after upgrade to 4.10.0-27

2017-08-05 Thread jas mann
Bug persists after upgrade to 4.10.0-30.

It continues to be necessary to boot a 4.8 kernel to avoid catastrophic
work loss.

Surely this regression merits higher priority attention.

Because update-manager depends on python3-distupgrade and imports the size
checking code from there. It does not make sense to have two copies of this
implementation (with different bugs).

Yes, and this now uses the code in ubuntu-release-upgrader instead of having
update-manager call into u-r-u's python module and u-r-u call back into
update-manager.

Creating the file in /var/tmp means that it cannot atomically replace the
existing initramfs; a mv from /var/tmp to /boot then becomes a non-atomic
removal and replace, which means there is a window during which the
initramfs on disk for the default kernel will be broken and a power event
will cause the system to fail to reboot. That is not a trade-off we are
ever going to make.

The right fix for the out-of-space-on-removal problem is to fix the kernel
packaging to not regenerate initramfs on removals of linux-image-extras or
linux-image-signed.

2017-08-05 Thread Caberset
Just for be sure, take a look to your local network

# ip add

If there's no "lo" network, the you should enable it:

# ifconfig lo up

Then restart the server again and let's see if it works again now

# systemctl start rabbitmq-server

[Bug 1708817] Re: Printing with smbspool_krb5_wrapper not working in Ubuntu 16.04

2017-08-05 Thread Van Svensson
** Tags added: cups

** Description changed:

I have two computers, one with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and one with Ubuntu
16.04 LTS. On both computers I have configured the printer with cups to
print by using my Kerberos credential in the same way and it works in
  14.04 but not in 16.04.

In 16.04 the print job just stays listed forever in "lpq" until I
manually remove it with "lprm", while it goes through to the printer in
  14.04.

For both 14.04 and 16.04 I have that
  * /usr/bin/smbspool_krb5_wrapper is chmod 700
  * "AuthInfoRequired negotiate" is set in /etc/cups/printers.conf
  * /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb is a symbolic link to
/usr/bin/smbspool_krb5_wrapper

The users does not exist in /etc/passwd, instead they are in LDAP and
when they log in to the computer they get some Kerberos tickets for the
domain and the network file system. When printing on 14.04 they get
another Kerberos ticket for the printing system according to "klist"
after they have done "lpr" and printed a document. On 16.04 nothing is
printed and the user gets no Kerberos ticket for the printing system and
the job is left in "lpq".

On 14.04 I have Samba version 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.10 and on
  16.04 I have 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.9. I attach the smb.conf file
which is exactly the same for both 14.04 and 16.04.

+ On 14.04 I have CUPS 1.7.2-0ubuntu1.8 and on 16.04 I have 2.1.3-4.
+
I attach how it looks like in /var/log/cups/error_log, after setting
"LogLevel debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, in 16.04 where it does not
work (I have just changed my uid and gid to 1000). When I compare the
log with 14.04 where it does work I see that 16.04 uses two backslashes
when setting KRB5CCNAME while 14.04 does not use backslashes, maybe that
  is the problem?

Thanks for any ideas about what goes wrong in 16.04 or how I can track
down the problem, e.g., by comparing with 14.04 where it does work!

[Bug 1708881] [NEW] USB Stick corrupted - The driver descriptor says the physical block size is 2048 bytes

2017-08-05 Thread Damiön la Bagh
Public bug reported:

After using the usb-creator-gtk program the resulting Ubuntu 16.04.3 stick is
corrupted.
The error message when re-purposing the stick is:

"The driver descriptor says the physical block size is 2048 bytes, but
Linux says that it is 512 bytes."

It seems like usb-creator-gtk is using dd without specifying the correct
blocksize corrupting the USB stick.

I've now lost 4 USB sticks on two different computers that I now can't
format back to a usable stick.

Steps to reproduce:
Insert a blank USB stick into the USB port of the computer
Run usb-creator-gtk with an Ubuntu 16.04.3 ISO
Open gParted (parted, blkid, lsblk etc...)

"The driver descriptor says the physical block size is 2048 bytes, but
Linux says that it is 512 bytes."

try to clean the disk with
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/$USBSTICK bs=2048; sync

again check the disk with gParted (or other disk utility)
"The driver descriptor says the physical block size is 2048 bytes, but Linux
says that it is 512 bytes."

USB stick is destroyed.

[Bug 1708870] [NEW] Support for X553 Intel NIC in Xenial

2017-08-05 Thread Vincent Bernat
Public bug reported:

Hey!

The Intel Atom C3000 platform comes with an integrated X553 Intel NIC.
Support was added in Linux 4.11:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-
next.git/commit/?id=b3eb4e1860f35. PCI IDs are 8086:15E4 and 8086:15E5.

Would it be possible to backport such support into 4.4? Redhat provided
support for such chips a few months back (through DKMS):
https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2017:1194.

Thanks.

[Bug 1532226] Re: No menu bar in gtk apps on fresh boot

2017-08-05 Thread jerriy
This bug is still happening!

I have qbittorent installed today and the menu (file, edit, help, etc)
that should be there on the top toolbar has completely disappeared (and
in qbitttorent there is no alternative (like the menu doesn't appear in
a right click or something) which means I am totally UNABLE to access
the menu functions.

[Bug 1386005] Re: Password not accepted graphical boot for encrypted root system

2017-08-05 Thread Chris Schadl
This happened to me again today, after I did an apt update. The problem
is, the kernel modules (or something) changed, but not the kernel
version, so I don't have a backup kernel configuration that I can boot
from. This makes it literally impossible for me to boot my machine.

  * Cherry pick restart on configuration changes fix from Debian (LP: #1668639)

Register a dpkg trigger on /etc/rsyslog.d that calls restart on

2017-08-05 Thread helm12
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded to Xubuntu 17.04, and am experiencing an issue with
the xfce4-panel sound menu indicator. When I change the volume level
using the sound menu's slider, notify-osd will appear over the controls
and block use of the menu.

Another user experiencing this on a clean install:

[Bug 1707998] Re: Upgrade from 14.04.5 to 16.04 failed

2017-08-05 Thread Mi Bree
Thanks for the response.
I removed spotweb and it upgraded...
After upgrade network did not work because it was changed from eth0 to ens32,
changed it in etc/network/interfaces and then the network worked again (could
this be scripted in the upgrade if you have only one network card). Other
problems where that my samba smb.conf was gone... added my shares again. Some
installed services did not start anymore...

Same problem with Digium TE435 cards. I had to add build instructions
for wcte43x and oct612x in dkms.conf to get it working.

[Bug 1708799] [NEW] Guess maybe I screwed up

2017-08-05 Thread Allan Radcliffe
Public bug reported:

Was trying to install from DVD only seemed to go to HDD not all 4 drives, 2SSD,
2 SATAHDD I flounder trying to set up so swap is on SSD and core Linux on HDD
so system will boot. Cannot boot from SSD's it seems. Thanks for your help I
made a donation to Mozilla maybe need to make one to Ubuntu I set the free
spaces to LVM after formatting and let The installer size the main HDD at 0,0
SDA1
All this plus a MSI RX480 8Gb Graphics and 12 MB Memory on a M5A97 (LER2.0) MB,
AMD 8350 8core @4000Hz.
Put it together myself for retirement project (70y.o.)
Reason I formatted is I stupidly tried to put Windoze7x64 in THEN was going to
install SxS Ubuntu 17.04 but they fought viciously especially Windows which
kept on trying to format my prepared Linux partitions. So I figured to run only
Linux of any flavour that will work. I was liking the Cinnamon interface but
the Audio extras in Studio seem interesting too, so many choices.

[Bug 1357093] Re: Kernels not autoremoving, causing out of space error on LVM or Encrypted installation or on any installation, when /boot partition gets full

2017-08-05 Thread Jarno Suni
Hi David

One option is to install 16.04 or later and configure unattended-
upgrades as recommended in the document. I am afraid all the related
bugs will not be fixed in 14.04.

Fixing Bug #1460396 and Bug #291342 would also help users of Software
Updater even if unattended-upgrades is not used.

The changes you suggest have nothing to do with unattended-upgrade
(against which this bug is reported).

IIRC the default separate /boot size is 500MB in some newer release of
Ubuntu.
