[Bug 1709532] [NEW] Can't get the additional resolution

2017-08-08 Thread Anchal Bhargava
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am new to Linux, I have just installed Ubuntu 14, my problem is I am
getting only one screen resolution in display(1024x768) and that's kind
of uncomfortable to work.

I read that we do not need to install Graphics Driver then why isn't it
showing me other screen resolutions?

One more thing, when I tried to install Ubuntu, after clicking on
Install Ubuntu option, I got the time, volume option on the top right
hand but the installation didn't start. I waited for around 15 minutes
then restart the installation. I tried to install ubuntu 6-7 times with
different versions too. But same thing happened every time.

So I read in a forum and some one said to use "nomodeset" option and
after that ubuntu was installed. I hope this will help in rectifying the
problem (also I will be very grateful if you can tell me why it wasn't
working before and why it did install after that option, I am trying to
learn how Linux works)

And I think that this doesn't have to do anything with it but still. I
am using Intel XEON E5450 processor and don't have any external graphic
card installed.

Thanks,
Anchal Bhargava

Re: [Bug 1709504] [NEW] Postfix Files that shouldn't be writable.

2017-08-08 Thread Scott Kitterman
It was fixed in Debian later, but it's harmless. Because these are symlinks
(which the script doesn't follow), the permissions it detects aren't the
actual permissions. The 'fix' is not to emit the warnings for this. You can
ignore them.

[Bug 1596344] Re: pulseaudio causes long login delay waiting for bluetooth

2017-08-08 Thread Jordan
I guess I was mistaken about commenting out "load-module module-
bluetooth-policy" and "load-module module-bluetooth-discover", that did
not solve the problem for me.

A successful workaround though was to "sudo rm
/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop" which stops gnome-session from trying to
start start-pulseaudio-x11 (and block until it signals completion of startup,
which takes about 30 seconds).

Even without /xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop pulse is being spawned by
something, as can be seen from "pgrep pulse", and I can play sounds
fine.

I am *not* recommending this as a general solution for everyone as I do
not know what ramifications there might be to not having
/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop that I just might not have noticed. I
assume that it is there for a reason.

[Bug 1671974] Re: cups-browsed Generates Excessive Amounts of UDP Multicast Traffic for BJNP

2017-08-08 Thread spm2011
Understood.
Judging by some other reports such as
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6477200, it sounds like this is an
upstream behaviour in the core CUPS that may have since been fixed (I'm testing
with newer versions to see if I can reproduce).

Shall I mark this Invalid ?

2017-08-08 Thread Felipe Reyes
I verified the packages available in -proposed (xenial-mitaka, xenial-
newton, xenial-ocata, zesty-ocata) and they do fix the issue following
the test case describe in the SRU, and there were no regressions
detected (launching/destroying VMs showed no issues, also networks
manipulation works as expected).

I'm here attaching the evidence of my verification for each setup.

This is still present in zesty :( what makes it worse is that nouveau
crashes my computer from time to time.

Also text boot is not as good. I have 2 partitions with the same

i have to enter the password twice.

is there at least a way to make it ask the password once in
text/nosplash mode?

[Bug 1251464] Re: Bad TCP/UDP checksum on e1000e with tx-checksumming on

2017-08-08 Thread Peter Cordes
Apparently bad checksums in tcpdump/wireshark captures for outgoing
traffic are normal, when hardware offload is enabled. The NIC only
fills in the correct value after data has been copied to the NIC, which
is after capture takes a snapshot of the buffer with whatever garbage
was there. See the last point in http://docs.gz.ro/node/282.

Since disabling chksum offload actually fixed your problem, maybe your
NIC really was filling in checksums incorrectly (or it wasn't really
enabled, so neither the kernel nor the NIC were generating correct
checksums).

Anyway, I think to properly debug this, you should have tried capturing
packets from a different computer, so you can be sure you're seeing what
went out over the wire with/without HW chksum enabled.

TL:DR: you probably had a real issue (since disabling offload got your
ssh working), but your debugging / verification technique was flawed,
and would show a problem even on working hardware.

[Bug 1709500] Re: Headerbar buttons that are highlighted/coloured in Adwaita are not coloured at all in Ambiance.

2017-08-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not sure the colouring of some headerbar buttons in some windows is
a good design choice by upstream. In the example in the bug description,
the (blue in Adwaita) Extract button is no more important than the non-
blue Extract button in the dialog that came before it.

So yeah it's a theme bug that Ambiance is missing this highlighting but
also not really a noticeable problem unless you're familiar with other
themes.

[Bug 1709163] Re: default output changes from intel builtin to hdmi when display is turned off. yes off not on

2017-08-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for that. My first thought is to wait for the next pulseaudio
update where we will be removing a pile of historic patches that change
behaviour slightly, but exist neither in Debian nor upstream. If that
doesn't fix it then perhaps this is related to the switch-on-connect
module (misfiring?).

[Bug 1698287] Re: VA-API fails to initialize in a Gnome Shell Wayland session

2017-08-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Doug,

A couple of my fixes have landed today, as well as ffmpeg 3.3 which
fixes most of mpv's acceleration problems. However your comment reminds
me there's another bug with mpv I need to open and fix... mpv will by
default try to use the X11 display provided by Xwayland and ends up with
vaapi-copy. You can work around that trivially and get hwdec=vaapi
proper working again by hiding Xwayland:

   env -uDISPLAY mpv --hwdec myvideo.mp4

Actually comment #16 doesn't need a new bug. This bug will do fine for
that. See comments #3 - #4.

That should close the loop for that subject.

I now see open-iscsi version "2.0.874-4ubuntu1" as a "Valid candidate"
in the excuse page, thus it will no longer be stuck in artful-proposed.

  * Merge with Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- debian/tests: Add Ubuntu autopkgtests.
- debian/iscsi-network-interface.rules, debian/net-interface-handler,

- debian/open-iscsi.maintscript: clean up the obsolete

- Let iscsid systemd job run in privileged containers but not in
  unprivileged ones
- Start open-iscsi systemd job when either /etc/iscsi/nodes or
  /sys/class/iscsi_session have content
Based on patch by Nish Aravamudan, thanks! (LP #1576341)
- add IPv6 support
  + add support for IPV6{DOMAINSEARCH,DNS0,DNS1} to net-interface-handler
LP #1621507
  + Source /run/net6-*.conf when needed.
  + debian/extra/initramfs.local-top: handle IPv6 configs being
shipped in DEVICE6 or /run/net6-*.conf in the initramfs, so we
can fill in /run/initramfs/open-iscsi.interface (LP #1621507)

- d/extra/initramfs.local-top: When booting from iBFT,

so that other tools, such as cloud-init, can use that
information. (cloud-init fails if the current PROTO=none
is used.) (LP: #1684039) (Closes: #866213)

[Bug 1698287] Re: VA-API fails to initialize in a Gnome Shell Wayland session

2017-08-08 Thread Doug McMahon
Regarding the mpv in artful:
You can currently get some vaapi support in wayland session, you'd need to use
hwdec=vaapi-copy
Not as effective as hwdec=vaapi but I don't think they'll be changing that
(commit noted), in near future.

I've read on the Internet it is a known issue in this version of
postfix. Wondering if there will be an update to this problem in the
3.1.0-3 Ubuntu:16.04/xenial package.

[Bug 1299512] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()

2017-08-08 Thread tellapu
Unfortunately the problems is still present in Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 Alpha) -
gnome.keyring 3.18.3-0ubuntu2. This crash happens every time I startup Ubuntu,
but only for a week, I wonder what happened.
Maybe the upgrade to 16.04.03 caused it?

Apart from the error message I have to re-enter the keyring password each time
and the usual workaround to add a blank password does not work as it gets
forgetten.
Does somebody have a workaround?

I really hope somebody can be assigned to this bug or takes care of this bug
which is confirmed, with high importance and waiting for a fix for THREE years!
Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1709500] [NEW] The headerbar action buttons lack contrast

2017-08-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

Using Ambiance on artful, the "action buttons" used in GtkHeaderBar are
using a color similar to bar background which makes them not stand out.
One example is the file-roller extract dialog, when using Adwaita the
"extract" button is blue which make it an obvious click target, that's
not the case under our themes

[Bug 1709489] Re: [MRE] Please update to latest upstream release 7.0.22

2017-08-08 Thread Nish Aravamudan
** Description changed:

- TBC
+ There have been a number of microreleases of PHP 7.0 upstream since the
+ last update to Xenial (which corresponded to the last update in Zesty). As it
has been a few months, it feels appropriate to provide another
+ MRE update to php7.0. A number of critical security and bug-fixes are
+ present in each 7.0.x. Rather than backporting individual patches (e.g.,
+ Bug # 1569509), I believe it makes significantly more sense to follow
+ the upstream 7.0.x. Upstream PHP is demonstrating an improved approach
+ of bugfixes only in 7.0.x:
+
+ - 7.0.22: http://php.net/ChangeLog-7.php
+
+ The upstream CI is at: https://travis-ci.org/php/php-src and is run
+ regularly.
+
+ Our php7.0 source package has autopkgtests for the 4 SAPIs, mod-php,
+ cgi, fpm and cli. We have also updated the packing to run the source
+ tests during the build itself.
+
+ I do not believe there is a firm statement from upstream on API/ABI
+ stability, but the general approach seems to be a BC-break would result
+ in 7.1.0 (which is now present in Artful, and is why the Artful task is
invalid).
