Can confirm this issue on my Dell XPS 9560. I downloaded iso of ubuntu

I am pretty sure I didn't do any mistake but the key is still not
working. I will also attach an animation to show how volume mute
produces a notification, and volume down/up as well. Just the mic
doesn't trigger a notification, nor does it actually mute the mic
(checked in the sound preferences).

Looks like MATE's mate-settings-daemon doesn't do anything to the hotkey
