All (most?) gui apps fail to launch when using sudo, out-of-box, desktop
17.10 install. For example, gparted and virt-manager, which both

On boot screen with disk decrypt password and gdm are heavily deformed
(check attachment). After login wayland session is also deformed, then
if I logout and login to Xorg, picture is fine. After that if I logout
and login back to Wayland session picture is also fine.

just failed me today - we need to sort out if that was an old installer or if
my case is slightly different.
- I had 2 mod54 dasds.
- Both were never used, so I let the installer do the dasdfmt.
- used guided lvm setup to use all space on each disk
- created a single VG with both disks in it

I was pleased to see that there was a new trusty-updates package for
curl that fixes a number of out-of-bounds reads!
And I was immediately disappointed that it didn't fix _this_ set of out-
of-bounds reads.

I can reproduce the issue on latest Artful release. Although I use XPS
9360 instead of Precision 5520. The kernel is 4.13 based.
I'll try finding a Precision 5520.

ubiquity is for the graphical DE installer.
You are probably not, in fact, installing against the server ISO, but
using a net-install pointed at the whole archive, thus seeing all the
tasks from the whole archive.
