[Bug 1719196] Re: [arm64 ocata] newly created instances are unable to raise network interfaces

2017-10-20 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Regression tests on the ppa are good as well, we need to double check the
auto-run on proposed then to ensure this doesn't behave differently on other
arches.
I cleaned up the changelog and UCA backport noise and made a proper SRU for
zesty.

Note: there is currently another SRU in flight (already in verified
state for 2 days), so acceptance from zesty-unapproved likely has to
wait a bit until the former one clears completely

[Bug 1724857] Re: Artful: Fix FTBS on test-rebuild due to gcc-7

2017-10-20 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Changes (in 2nd form) reviewed, approved and now uploaded for Artful.

This might race with BB opening and then needs another version (actually the
version is fine but it needs to be B... then, and artful get an SRU version
number).
Please let me know if it collides, otherwise this should easily go in before
without issues.

my screen is freezing after some minutes. I have no idea what the problem could
be. This Problem does also exist at other BS like windows. So I guess this is a
HW problem, but what hardware could cause this problem? Any idea?
with kind regards,
Gustav

2017-10-20 Thread Javier Antonio Nisa Avila
I have two computers and the same happens to me since ubuntu 17.10, in

Are you talking about the guest screen or the host screen flashing? And
are you sure that X11 is running after installing those packages? In a
terminal in the guest run "ps -Af | grep X" and see if Xwayland is in
the list.

##

bond take a little time to be up, vlans are appliend immediatly and so vlans
interfaces don't gets the ip.
Using a bond different than 802.3ad there isn't this delay and vlans interfaces
gets correctlr the ip.

[Bug 1694115] Re: Parole (MPRIS2 plugin) segfault, error 4 in parole-mpris2.so

2017-10-20 Thread daniel CURTIS
** Summary changed:

- Parole segfault at 26 ip b39f47f4 sp bfe191b0 error 4 in parole-mpris2.so
+ Parole (MPRIS2 plugin) segfault, error 4 in parole-mpris2.so

** Description changed:

  Hello

I noticed, that during listening an audio CD, Parole is closing every
time when I'm trying to manually change song time, manually moving time
bar (e.g. moving forwards a few seconds.) Today, it happened twice --
one by one. Parole is confined with a working AppArmor profile. However,
log files contains an entry about this issue:

  ✓ May 28 12:22:16 t1aa-test kernel: [ 6950.151393] parole[4512]:
- segfault at 26 ip b39f47f4 sp bfe191b0 error 4 in parole-
- mpris2.so[b39f+13000]
+ segfault at 26 ip * sp * error 4 in parole-mpris2.so[]

But nothing related with AppArmor etc. Parole is working OK; I can
change - for example- visualizations, use plugins and so on. The only
one problem is with music listening and changing or better -- moving the
song time. (Just as I wrote above.) Parole launched via terminal runs
normally (for example: `$ parole song.mp3` command); there is not any
errors, warnings etc. Everything is fine. (Log files are empty also.)

I'll provide some technical informations gathered by ubuntu-bug(1)
  utility.

  ✗ Application: parole 0.8.1-1ubuntu4
  ✗ Architecture: i686
  ✗ Distro Release: 16.04.2 LTS
✗ Current DE: Xfce (ver. 4.12)
  ✗ Kernel version: Linux 4.4.0-79-generic

  ● NOTE: I've just found a very similar problem with Parole, but this
involves playing video files. In my case it's about an audio CD etc.

  URL: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parole/+bug/1550444

  Thanks, best regards.

[Bug 1471983] Re: USB HDD makes lshw seg-fault when run as root

2017-10-20 Thread Eric Desrochers
# The package is now found in xenial-proposed but the LP bug haven't been
updated. #
# I'm doing it manually on behalf of SRU verification team #

Hello Ben Dover, or anyone else affected,

Accepted python-neutronclient into xenial-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lshw/02.17-1.1ubuntu3.3 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

- Eric

BTW I cannot confirm that not using colors fixes the issue; even if I
set PS1='$ ', I still get shrinkage after repeated maximizing/restoring

[Bug 1722298] Re: keyboard autorepeat not happening when I hold down any key

2017-10-20 Thread Marius Gedminas
This doesn't look like a terminal problem. It looks like a kernel
problem -- some input device is spamming fake key press events.

It would be useful if you could determine which device is sending these
events. I would run `sudo evemu-record`, pick each device in turn, to
see if it sees repeating events or not.

[Bug 1454450] Re: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic

2017-10-20 Thread John Tanner
I have a feeling that this is related to bluetooth and wifi coexistence.

https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi#wi-
fibluetooth_coexistence

In essence, bleutooth and wifi operate on similar (the same) frequencies
and will interfere. Normally this is handled in the firmware/kernel, but
there are problems.

Try this:

[Bug 1725086] Re: Spam of dmesg messages, Wi-Fi related

2017-10-20 Thread Seth Forshee
Changing to affect linux package, does not look like a firmware issue.

Looking at what we have applied for the first SRU kernel release for
17.10, there's a patch there already which should fix your problem.

[Bug 1688528] Re: gnome-terminal with screen interprets mouse wheel events as up/down

2017-10-20 Thread Marius Gedminas
I've been using this in my ~/.screenrc to tell screen not to switch to
the alternate screen, so I can use my scrollback:

  termcapinfo xterm|xterm-256color ti=\E7\E[?47l:te=\E[H\E[2J\E[?47l

This also enables mouse wheel scrolling of the scrollback (as long as
you don't turn on 'mousetrack' in your .screenrc).

[Bug 1724810] Re: 17.10/wayland causing flashes in virtualbox

2017-10-20 Thread Hadmut Danisch
I have removed just guest-x11, and then it runs wayland again, but the
flashes and these off-seconds are back as well. The problem seems to be
directly related to wayland.

I am not familiar with wayland yet, first contact. But when installing
virtualbox-guest-x11 and rebooting, the process Xwayland is absent and
Xorg is present.

And it's just the guest screen, just that particular window the VM is running
in.

If I don't touch mouse and keyboard, it happens only occasionally, every
5 or 10 seconds, but once I move the mouse or start a new program
opening it's own window, it happens more often and in most cases
immediately.

It looks like some syncing problem between virtualbox and wayland.

[Bug 1725274] [NEW] Executing 'grub-install dummy' failed on 17.10

2017-10-20 Thread Greg Williams
Public bug reported:

Cannot install 17.10, every attempt (UEFI, Legacy, preformatted, guided
formatted, etc) fails with message; Executing 'grub-install dummy'
failed.

Can someone please tell me the commands for manually installing grub
onto 17.10?

The installer works fine to install grub using ubuntu 17.04. I am using
mini.iso to try to install 17.10. I noticed this same bug during beta
work but assumed it would be fixed by stable release. It hasn't been.

[Bug 1714989] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() (dash-to-panel specific?)

2017-10-20 Thread Treviño
So this is mostly triggered by extensions (and considering how things are done,
we can't prevent them).
Or some wrong JS code which we didn't identified yet.

Crash for users using dash-to-panel is fixed (I've proposed the fix
upstream https://github.com/jderose9/dash-to-panel/pull/263), for the
others, gjs_dumpstack's are welcome, or we need to wait some debugging
bits to be there.

[Bug 1725458] Re: System unbootable with root fs mounted ro after update to systemd 234-2ubuntu12 (from 234-2ubuntu10) on artful

2017-10-20 Thread Markus Birth
I changed my fstab from

UUID=a936dbe9-5ab5-4272-aaae-d22030824373 / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1

to

UUID=a936dbe9-5ab5-4272-aaae-d22030824373 / ext4 rw,errors=remount-ro 0
1

and it now boots fine again. I don't know why that is necessary now and
why the update didn't notify me or made the change automatically.

[Bug 1288655] Re: terminal gets smaller when maximized and then restored

2017-10-20 Thread Paul
Literally one pixel beyond the edges of the window. I've attached a
screenshot that I hope illustrates this.

You see two windows which were auto-placed by the window manager. If
they didn't have scroll bars, they wouldn't overlap, but they do, by one
pixel. Depending on which window is in the foreground, the rightmost
pixel of the scroll bar is either below or above the other window.

The bottommost pixel of the scroll bar extending below the window is
evident in both cases.

[Bug 1725516] [NEW] package kodi-repository-kodi (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/kodi/addons/repository.xbmc.org/addon.xml', which is also in package kodi-da

2017-10-20 Thread Johan Rosier
Public bug reported:

I have "Kodi" installed and found the next problems I have a stick with
films from the internet and i found no possibility to use "open with
another program software program" be it did not come in the list of
other possibilities. A second problem with Kodi was that it was (for me)
only to close the Kodi software by closing the whole session with an
"hard stopping"

I found another problem with pulse audio. In synaptic has been forgotten
to activate the pavucontrol. After this i found it back in the
applications.

The same problem i had with the new equalizer in the Synaptic. After
installing this there was no equalizer in the aplications box. And i
have installed the old one. That was giving the application in the "
sound and video box

I don't use bluetooth but i see a red cross in the icon. and i shall
remove it

[Bug 1681231] Re: package cracklib-runtime 2.9.2-3 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed

2017-10-20 Thread Brian Murray
** Description changed:

- This seems to be the same problem as described in bug #1636262, only
- this time it happened during upgrade from 16.10 to 17.04. The setup
- process (do-release-upgrade -d) aborted and I had to finish it manually.
+ [Impact]
+ Upgrading cracklib-runtime is not working for some systems due to trigger
cycles. This is making distribution upgrades challenging.

- ProblemType: Package
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.04
+ [Test Case]
+ While we haven't been able to replicate this directly the following tests
will confirm that there are no regressions.
+
+ Test A
+ --
+ 1) Install cracklib-runtime from -proposed.
+ 2) Reinstall dictionaires-common and verify that the trigger is called
+
+ Test B
+ --
+ 1) With the version of cracklib-runtime from -proposed installed confirm that
a distribution upgrade to next supported release succeeds.
+
+ Test C
+ --
+ 1) Test a release upgrade from an affected release (Trusty, Xenial) to the
next supported release (Xenial, Zesty) with -proposed enabled. To do this
upgrade you'll need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list to the target release and run
'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' as ubuntu-release-upgrader will disable -proposed.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ It's possible that upgrades will break hence all the regression tests in the
Test Case.
+

+
