[Bug 1505409] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGTRAP in x_io_error() from _XIOError() from _XEventsQueued() from XPending() from gdk_check_xpending() ["Connection to xwayland lost"]

2017-11-01 Thread Nicolás Abel Carbone
I think I have found I way to reproduce the crash of gnome-shell, at
least in my PC. Almost always opening up Spotify and double-clicking on
a playlist so it shuffle-plays results in gnome-shell crashing and
recovering a couple of seconds later.

[Bug 1728723] Re: postfix check warns about symlink being group writable

2017-11-01 Thread Andreas Hasenack
This was fixed in 3.1.4-2 which was synced into ubuntu for zesty and
later.

Xenial does indeed show this behavior, but I don't think it's worth an
SRU to fix it. The exit code is still 0, and it's just a warning.

Maybe if there was another bug worth of an SRU, this fix could piggy
back on it.

FWIW, the fix is in debian/patches/70_postfix-check.diff:

[Bug 1669564] Re: udevadm trigger subsystem-match=net doesn't always run rules because of reconfiguration rate-limiting

2017-11-01 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
I have merged the netplan code to that effect in netplan master now -
i.e. generate reloads udevadm rules.

However, I have now realised something.

MTUBytes can be set in two places: NetDev.MTUBytes key in the .link file
and in Link.MTUBytes key in the .network file.

The .link setting is applied by udev, whereas the .network setting is
applied by networkd on link up.

I guess it matters if the link is managed by networkd subsequently or
not. I wonder if we want to set mtu in .link file, .network, or both.
Such that mtu is correct if networkd doesn't manage the interface (.link
file alone), and the mtu is corrected upon link up too (.network
setting) if it is changed, given that .link files are not.

[Bug 1729337] [NEW] CIFS errors on 4.4.0-98, but not on 4.4.0-97 with same config

2017-11-01 Thread Jack Hardcastle
Public bug reported:

We have a cluster of servers that applied a security update overnight
and were unable to mount CIFS shares after upgrading to 4.4.0-98. The
same machines on 4.4.0-97 were fine the night before, and are fine after
downgrading. The only error message CIFS would report, even on verbose,
was:

[ 257.089876] CIFS VFS: validate protocol negotiate failed: -11
[ 257.089964] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -5

Rebooting did not help. Nor did attempting to mount the share manually
using mount -t cifs.

Here's the offending line from our /etc/fstab (with hostnames
sanitized):

//server/share /mnt/share cifs
rw,user,credentials=/etc/samba/credentials.share,uid=33,gid=33,file_mode=0770,dir_mode=0770
,exec,soft,noserverino,vers=3.0 0 0

[Bug 1270676] Re: SD Card Reader broken on UX302LG

2017-11-01 Thread Oleksij Rempel
Hm... just note to my self and other users:
- i still hardly working in my "free" time to make au6621 to work with mainline
kernel mmc framework. It is still not working, even if i reproduce all register
access, but not in the same order as original driver. It is just impossible to
do it same way. The au6601 should still work.
- for now, if I recalculate time I spend on this driver to € which I normally
get for this kind of work, I would get at least 10 of really expensive laptops.
So I think it is not the way, some thing should be done.
- I feels like I send wrong signal to Vendors and Users. Users think, there are
always, some one who will do it. Vendors understand only language of money. If
users still pay money to vendors for HW without drivers and expect, some one
will make it for free, then it is really wrong.
- I need to admit, I would never be able to make upstream version of driver
perfectly work. Vendors working on SD/MMC protocol have tools and people to
make sure, it will work at least on 50% of all devices and pass certification.
I would be able to make it work on 3-10 SD cards in my home collection and be
really happy with it.
- If person who gave me au6621 HW will accept it, i would spend one more month
on it. And if there are no acceptable results, I will stop to work on this
driver.

Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

I believe what's happening is similar, if not identical, to bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1635491 which we
thought was resolved. I also filed an upstream bug with samba about it
because it looks like some cases are not yet sorted out.

Please tell me, this machine where it happened, is this a laptop? Do you
only have network access after you login, via wireless for example? Or
is the network enabled before, like via an ethernet cable?

[Bug 1729305] [NEW] CouchDB service fails to start

2017-11-01 Thread Devin Shoemaker
Public bug reported:

On a fresh Ubuntu 17.10 install (with updated packages or not) the
CouchDB package from the official Ubuntu repos does not work. The
CouchDB service fails to start, and continues to fail to start after
restarting the service or restarting the computer. CouchDB also cannot
be executed from the command line, resulting in an error. I have
reported this to the official CouchDB GitHub, and the developers state
that Ubuntu 17.10 is now shipping a version of Erlang that CouchDB
doesn't support. The outputted error from attempting to run CouchDB from
the command line, as well as the dialogue from the CouchDB developers,
can be found here: https://github.com/apache/couchdb/issues/910

libsane-epkowa.so.1, libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.15 in my case) to
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane

4. reboot.

Guess this works with all Iscan depend scanners from Epson

For me the bug is fixed ...

[Bug 1724875] Re: xtables-addons 2.12-0.1~16.04.1 ADT test failure with linux-hwe-edge 4.13.0-16.19~16.04.3

2017-11-01 Thread Marcelo Cerri
** Changed in: xtables-addons (Ubuntu)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Marcelo Cerri (mhcerri)

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ Currently the DKMS package fails to install in supported custom kernels
+ that are based on 4.11 or 4.13. That includes the current 4.11 hwe-edge
+ and the upcoming 4.13 hwe-edge kernels and some of the custom and cloud
+ kernels as well.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ Install the DKMS package with the 4.13 hwe-edge kernel from -proposed.
+ The package installation should proceed without any errors.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ Although new patches were added, the regression risk is very low since
+ the new changes are conditionally compiled based on the kernel version.
+
+ Besides that the new package was tested with the following kernels in an
+ amd64 environment:
+
+ - linux-generic 4.4
+ - linux-hwe 4.10
+ - linux-hwe-edge 4.11
+ - linux-hwe-edge 4.13 (from xenial-proposed)
+ - linux-azure 4.11
+ - linux-azure-edge 4.13 (which is in process of getting promoted to
+ xenial-proposed)

also exists in 16.04.3 installer, is this assumption correct?

[Bug 1729272] [NEW] recordmydesktop is an invalid installation package

2017-11-01 Thread Александр
Public bug reported:

1.
install package:
sudo apt install recordmydesktop
trying to find the start button in the lens of Ubuntu. Trying to find in the
package Manager the program shows that it is not installed.

2.
Expected to find the start button to start the graphic shell and expect to see
the app installed in the package Manager.

3.
The start button is not found, the program supposedly is not established in
terms of a graphical package Manager.

---
1.
Произвожу установку пакета:
sudo apt install recordmydesktop

[Bug 1729274] [NEW] sudo/rootwrap calls consuming large amounts of CPU

2017-11-01 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

I've only seen this on zesty deployments (things appear to be OK on
xenial); the net result of these slow calls is that network setup ops
for instances take along time to complete; this results in failed
instance launches (and as a result failed tempest tests).

I'm going to recheck without proposed so see if I see the same problems.

[Bug 1729270] [NEW] Xmahjongg window position is not set with -g/--geometry option

2017-11-01 Thread Jean Philippe EIMER
Public bug reported:

Due to obsolete x/y in X11 XSizeHints structure, Xmahjongg window position
can't be set with -g or --geometry option.
Example : xmahjongg -g +200+200 puts the window at 0,0 instead of 200,200.

Ubuntu 17.10
Package : xmahjongg 3.7-4

This is fixed by the attached patch.

 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1729264] [NEW] Regression of file rename popover bug

2017-11-01 Thread Christopher M. Rogers
Public bug reported:

It seems ctrl+z undo tries to undo the last file operation rather than the last
text edit in the file name dialog.
nautilus devs have fixed this behaviour previously, so it's probably an Ubuntu
patch that's causing the problem.

Here's the patch that was committed to fix it previously:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/commit/bf6b1e2c2f0cd3d882f99029af79a3439bdacec1

Here's a video showing that the behaviour regression in 17.10 (ctrl+z is used
to undo a text edit):

[Bug 1729266] [NEW] missing source line in /etc/interfaces

2017-11-01 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

The man page
man 5 interfaces
states:

By default, on a freshly installed Debian system, the interfaces
file includes a line to source files in the /etc/network/interfaces.d
directory.

A freshly installed 17.10 system lacks this line (and therefore is
unable to handle interfaces defined in interfaces.d)
