[Bug 1741189] Re: New bugfix release 17.2.8

2018-01-03 Thread Timo Aaltonen
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
+
+ A new upstream bugfix release is available. Release note diff compared
+ to 17.2.4:
+
+ Mesa 17.2.5 is now available.
+
+ In this release we have:
+
+ In Mesa Core a GL error related to the ARB_ES3_1_compatibility spec
+ noticed with the GFXBench 5 Aztec Ruins has been corrected.
+
+ The GLSL compiler is not giving a linker error for mismatching uniform
+ precision with GLSL ES 1.00 any more. This enables, specially, several
+ Android applications which violate this rule, like Forge of Empires,
+ for example.
+
+ The SPIR-V compiler has corrected an assert triggered when support for
+ the simple memory model was claimed.
+
+ NIR has also received a correction related with
+ gl_SubGroupG{e,t}MaskARB.
+
+ The Intel drivers, specially i965, have received several fixes,
+ including a plug for a memory leak and another one in the compiler to
+ avoid GPU hangs on Broxton.
+
+ The gallium i915g driver for Intel has also seen an important
+ correction.
+
+ AMD drivers, mostly radv, have also received several fixes, including a
+ correction for a DCC corruption that was visible with Rust, breaking an
+ endless loop in r600, avoiding a GPU hang with vulkan dota2 in VR mode
+ and a plug for a memory leak.
+
+ Broadcom's vc4 has gotten a fix to compile out some non-debug code that
+ shouldn't be there for the release build.
+
+
+
+ Mesa 17.2.6 is now available.
+
+ In this release we have:
+
+ In Mesa Core we have included a correction to keep a program alive when
+ re-linking and prevent an use-after-free.
+
+ The GLSL compiler has received several fixes, including one to prevent
+ a SIGSEV when calling an undeclared subroutine in certain conditions
+ and another to mark the xfb buffers as active only if a variable uses
+ them.
+
+ The SPIR-V compiler has corrected a couple of issues involving the
+ usage of separate images and texture/samplers.
+
+ The Intel drivers include many new fixes, specially for i965. Several
+ are focused on improving SIMD32 and little-core. It also includes a fix
+ for a GPU hang which was detected while playing HW accelerated video
+ with mpv.
+
+ The AMD drivers have also received some care. radv has seen plugged 2
+ memory leaks while r600 has gotten a fix through reversing the tess
+ factor components for isolines.
+
+ The swr driver has corrected two performance regressions, one for the
+ avx512 platforms and the other for the avx/avx2 platforms.
+
+ In the ddebug gallium driver we have a fix for an use-after-free.
+
+ On the EGL side, the Wayland platform of the the DRI2 drivers has
+ received a fix to prevent crashing in ancient systems.
+
+ GLX has also received corrections to prevent a couple of errors when
+ creating and binding a context in DRI3 and DRISW, respectively.
+
+ From build and integration point of view, we have added some few more
+ fixes, including one to allow building libglvnd when EGL is present but
+ not GLX, another to enable building targets which don't need X11, such
+ as omx and va, when XCB is not present, and another one to be able to
+ specify the prefix installation for the OpenCL icd file.
+
+
+
+ Mesa 17.2.7 is now available.
+
+ In this release we have:
+
+ The current queue consists of a variety of fixes, with a sizeable hunk in the
+ shared GLSL codebase.
+
+ Whereas for individual drivers - i965 has a crash fix for when playing various
+ Valve games, r600 and nouveau have tweaks in their compiler backends. Fast
+ clears on radeonsi and RADV are better now, while the VAAPI encoding is
playing
+ nicely with GStreamer.
+
+ The WGL state tracker and SWR driver have also seen minor improvements.
+
+ To top of up - Mesa should build fine with the latest glibc 2.17.
+
+
+
+ Mesa 17.2.8 is now available.
+
+ In this release we have:
+
+ The SPIR-V compiler has seen corrected a possible SEGFAULT.
+
+ The Intel i965 driver includes a correction for Haswell involving
+ doubles management.
+
+ The AMD drivers have also received some fixes. A couple have gone for
+ radv and radeon's VCE while r600 has seen corrected some glitches
+ detected with This War of Mine.
+
+ Gallium has also received a patch fixing a problem affecting the VMware
+ driver and the st/nine state tracker.
+
+ The endianness detection in Windows platform has been corrected to
+ default to little endian.
+
+ Finally, the X11 driver has been improved to notify properly a mesa
+ warning rather than using fprintf.

  [Test case]

+ Test typical use cases on the most common hw/driver combinations:
+ intel/i965
+ nvidia/nouveau
+ radeon/radeonsi

  [Regression potential]
+
+
+ These releases are tested against compliance, bugfix releases in particular
have minimal risk of regressing anything major at least.

[Bug 1509484] Re: certmonger processes turn into zombies on start

2018-01-03 Thread Harri-afaics
I am affected by this problem, too (using certmonger 0.78.6-4 and
freeipa 4.4.4-1+b1 on Stretch). The paths are different, though: getcert
lists helper paths in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/certmonger, but they can
be found in /usr/lib/certmonger.

What would you suggest to fix this problem for >120 hosts and to avoid
it for future client installations?

[Bug 1741180] [NEW] Not built with tabling option

2018-01-03 Thread guicho
Public bug reported:

The current YAP prolog in the repository is built without tabling semantics
option (--enable-tabling) enabled.
In modern prolog having a tabling semantics disabled is a huge disadvantage.
Please consider adding it.

You can also consider building with other options, namely or-parallelism
etc, and provide several binaries in different names, as suggested in
pl/tabling.pl (mentioned as YapTab/YapOr/OPTYap)

[Bug 1741177] [NEW] [needs-packaging] ukui-power-manager

2018-01-03 Thread handsome_feng
Public bug reported:

ukui-power-manager is a UKUI session daemon that acts as a policy agent
on top of UPower. It listens to system events and responds with user-
configurable actions.

ukui-power-manager is a fork of mate-power-manager which made some
adjustments for ukui desktop environment. Plus,it creates a complete
UKUI desktop enrivonment with other UKUI packages.

[Bug 1173457] Re: Ubuntu Installer uses wrong bootloader location for USB UEFI installs

2018-01-03 Thread Dylan Taft
I managed to clean up the damage
I used efibootmgr to delete the EFI boot entries on the Windows drive

I then booted an Ubuntu USB stick, followed Gentoo's guide for mounting and
chrooting into the Ubuntu environment I needed to fix
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Base

I then did grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi, where
/boot/efi had my external drive's EFI partition mounted up
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Bootloader

I checked the drive with efibootmgr to make sure Grub installed right, it did.

This is a really critical bug for any desktop user...

[Bug 1741176] [NEW] ssh-keyscan returns no key on some hosts

2018-01-03 Thread latimerio
Public bug reported:

after upgrading our control server to Ubunto 16.04 LTS I do not get a key
response from ssh-keyscan from some legacy hosts while others with the same
OpenSSH revision work ok.
Here is a sample output where you can see that in the first query that there is
just the SSH version displayed but no key part.
The queried hosts are all HP-UX 10.20 with OpenSSH 4.1

ssh-keyscan -t rsa -4 host1
# host1:22 SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.1

ssh-keyscan -t rsa -4 host2
# host2:22 SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.1
host2 ssh-rsa

If I do the same on host1 from an Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS it works
ssh-keyscan -t rsa host1
# host1 SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.1
host11 ssh-rsa

Re: [Bug 1740628] Re: package samba 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.12 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2018-01-03 Thread Ting Chu
Happy New Year Andreas.

Please excuse my ignorance for triggering a bug report when the error was
caused by me.

I made the a) and b) changes instructed by you, and file sharing between
ubuntu and windows worked.

I then search "ubuntu samba rlimit_max) on the internet and clicked (
https://serverfault.com/questions/509560/resolving-samba-testparm-message-rlimit-max-rlimit-max-8192-below-minimum-wi
). I changed the rlimit_max in /etc/security/limits.conf by adding these
two lines:

samba soft nofile 16384
samba har nofile 32768

I sudo service samba restart

However, windows does not automatically redetect ubuntu samba. I had to
logoff and logon to show sharing. Not a problem.

Andreas, thank you very much for your help.

Ting

[Bug 1741168] [NEW] HID: Fix RayD touchscreen failure to resume from suspend

2018-01-03 Thread AaronMa
Public bug reported:

Link: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10141099/
Link: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10141097/

[Impact]
Resume of S3 cause system hang on Lenovo laptops with RayD touchscreen.

[Fix]
RayD touchscreen issued corrupted data after it resume from suspend,
then HID driver didn't handle the data well because of the data overflow
and made a call trace and hang.
Keep memset safe from corrupted data and add command to make RayD
touchscreen back to normal.
Then touchscreen works fine.

[Test Case]
Tested on ThinkPad L380, works fine with fixes.

[Regression Potential]
Low, keep the data in hid-core and i2c-hid more strictly.
Add specific device quirk in i2c-hid.

[Bug 1741045] Re: Change the default resample-method to speex-float-10 in daemon.conf

2018-01-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It appears the default of speex-float-1 is chosen by upstream (?... although
commented out):
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/tree/src/daemon/daemon.conf.in

More information:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/artful/en/man5/pulse-daemon.conf.5.html

I'm not familiar with these options so would not second-guess upstream about
the best default just yet. Please log a bug directly with them and let's see
what they say:

[Bug 1740522] Re: GLib: g_variant_new_string: assertion 'string != NULL' failed

2018-01-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Probably both are true... A quick google shows many apps experiencing
that same assertion failure.

If you'd like to keep this bug about the gdm3 case then we'll need some
log file(s) (or screenshots?) of the problem being reported against
gdm3. I'm hoping for a little bit more contextual information.

[Bug 1740175] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 not resuming from suspend, freezing on shut down

2018-01-03 Thread Matt Gorzka
One observation that i've made: upon powering on, if I attempt to
suspend after little to no activity, ie: quickly going through Chromium,
the system is almost always able to suspend and resume thereafter.
During periods when i'm doing projects that last a couple hours using
Sublime Text, CLion, or Pycharm, etc, suspending and resuming will often
not work. Not sure if this is meaningful or if this has any randomness
to it.

[Bug 1697450] Re: Gnome Shell hangs at startup

2018-01-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes, I am assuming "hangs" means that the user interface is hung, but
not the internals of the system. So that's why the instructions in
comment #15 require a second machine and for you to be logged in from
that already before reproducing the graphical hang.

[Bug 1734147] Re: corrupted BIOS due to Intel SPI bug in kernel

2018-01-03 Thread uocc4me
The kernel in step 8 fixed the bios in my Acer ES1-111M-C7DE (with
Winbond 25Q64FWSIG). Now I can make changes to the settings (such as
UEFI/legacy), and they are still there after rebooting. System details
at #193.

I got the kernel from http://people.canonical.com/~ypwong/lp1734147

[Bug 1740892] Re: corosync upgrade on 2018-01-02 caused pacemaker to fail

2018-01-03 Thread Nish Aravamudan
@afreiberger, thank you for the extra info!

Reading the upstream patch referred to in Bug 1739033, I see this
change:

struct main_cp_cb_data {
-   enum main_cp_cb_data_state state;
-
int ringnumber;
char *bindnetaddr;
char *mcastaddr;

Now, that is a struct size change, which seems like it could easily be
an exported symbol / API / ABI.

afaict, there would be no harm in leaving this struct member in place,
but now unused, in the backported patch. The replacement, in the code,
is to pass this struct member in the callers themselves, but this in
turn changed the callback layout, which again might be part of the
exported interface of the library.

How easy is this to reproduce? Do you have a testcase handy that I might
be able to run?
