Ok, done for the moment. Loading of modules is working as far as i can
tell. Didn't reconnect the machine to the ISDN lines yet, but I dont
expect problems here - at least not the reported one.
My mistake was, that I relied on the output of the vendor supplied wizard
script too much.

The the bad position of the upper anchor on lower case letter 'd' in all
of the Gentium family fonts leads to incorrect kerning of diacritics
placed above the said letter.
I uploaded a fixed version of Gentium Plus Italic with correct position
of upper anchor on
xenial desktop upgrade via notification:
Starting with these installed:
