I had the same issue on an Acer Aspire One with a fresh Lubuntu 17.10.1
install. Trying to prevent the system from continuously going to sleep I set

I just tested a netboot installation in my system and I don't see the issue
anymore. I was able to fully install Ubuntu 18.04 in a system without any
issues. Closing this bug on our side.
