This happened on my Toshiba Satellite C55 running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS after
the last update. I ran "xrandr --auto" once after finally getting into
the GUI by booting into maintenance mode and resuming normal boot. It
seems to have fixed the problem for the time being. I can close the lid

I've experienced the same issue with the same combination of host/guest.
I've tried multiple versions of Virtualbox for Windows. Blank screen

I have replicated this issue on several systems. I have had the lockup
occur at several moments at the lock screen. It usually locks up once
you reach the login screen, sometimes when you start typing your
password, sometimes when you hit enter after typing in a correct
password.

It's a fresh install on new hardware. No previous versions on this
hardware.
I'll try out the upstream kernel.

Hi Marcin,
I'm planning on splitting the *_dbg directories out into their own
packages. Including runtime libraries from /usr/lib/$ARCH/*_dbg/ in the
-dev package wasn't very popular.
I'm still working out the details, but it should be more or less like this
(using libpmem as an example):
I can build a Bionic test kernel with that commit reverted.
Could you also test the current mainline kernel to see if the bug is
fixed in another way? It can be downloaded from;
