I was able to permanently change the host name with "hosnamectl --set-
hostname". Nonetheless, I still thinks there is a bug here, because the
Ubuntu 18.04 installer only allows me to set a unqualified host name,
while "ipa-server-install" insists on a FQDN, and the two do not
matches.

I don't know why, but apport attached wrong (outdate) Xorg logs to my
report. Probably it's a gdm feature that it puts logs elsewhere instead
of the usual /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
The actual logs made by my X11 server are located here:
/var/lib/gdm3/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log
I have the same problem of power drains even when prime-select is on
intel. I know for sure that the nvidia GPU is running because the
external HDMI port is working and shouldn't since it's wired to the GPU.

As far as I can see, the problem occurs only if the disk is MBR/MSDOS
formatted and the installer is booted in the EFI mode. So we should
create some test cases and test.
Test case 1:
Prerequisites:
- one disk; partition table -> GPT
- no EFI-System-Partition
- The installer is booted in EFI
It looks like this fix actually created a regression bug wich might be
related to the workaround implemented before ... Not sure but curent
situation is that it does no longer work correctly ...

I've tried boot-repair and many other solutions, but I was always
getting an error that boot/efi directory was not found. Finally I tried

Please remove phoronix-text-suite from Ubuntu
To get the same effect in Ubuntu 18.04 as 16.04 I used the tweak tool to
set a text scaling of 1.3. Additionally I had to set a scaling in
Firefox's about:config in the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx property to the
same 1.3 value. It's annoying that this has been removed from the normal
UI as the
Oh, admittedly I tested this in GNOME Shell not Unity, but since this is
apparently a bug in Files I wasn't sure that would matter?

Same issue as posted in #3 with new 18.04.
Install to flash drive, does not use ESP on flash drive, but installs to
ESP on sda. Then system is not bootable without flash drive as it has
overwritten my default boot on sda from /EFI/ubuntu.
I also have changed GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR as defined in

It appears that Ubuntu 18.04 does not have a system tray. Whilst running
"hplip-3.18.4.run" I encountered these error messages:-

just want to confirm that for me the issue was solved by commenting out
rlimit-data and rlimit-stack. I had solved it ages ago using this thread above,
and had completely forgotten about it. I was reminded of the issue as my
computer was updating (and asking about this conf file),
