I don't understand what iPXE has to do with anything here. If you are
running a virtual machine in UEFI mode, you have a full UEFI firmware
implementation which directly supports dhcp netboot without any
involvement of iPXE. And I am unaware of any issues with netbooting
ovmf to
Daniel, please make sure you have updated to the latest kernel in
16.04.5, which should be 4.15. The kernel that you are running is still
4.13 (4.13.0-45-generic to be exact).

updates about gnome this month i'm not able to reproduce this problem anymore.

The strange part is that there are only 3 kernels installed on the

This works when installing using the runfile method, but fails for the
packaged drivers. So it definitely appears to be a packaging issue
specific to Ubuntu. Confirmed to work on Fedora and Arch with 390-series
drivers as well.

I checked out the 2018-08-27 ISO, and made these observations:
1. When entering a Chinese live session, the Intelligent Pinyin input
source (default for Simplified Chinese) is not included in the list
of input sources. Only the cn XKB layout is.
2. In Region & Language the Intelligent

Previously, gwenview showed a number of sample images for folders that
contain images. Extremely useful. Since I updated to xubuntu 18.04, this
doesnt work any more. I now only see the name of the folder. When I
navigate into the folder, I do see thumbnails. (jpegs etc)
Can be closed after recent intel-microcode update
(3.20180807a.0ubuntu0.18.04.1) fixed this issue.
