This happens on a clean installation of 18.10 here as well, and I'd like
to point out that the window miniature previews are clearly visible and

We got some Dell Machines here which heavily rely on the X710 Cards. The
driver was buggy in 16.04 and still is. More than that, in 18.04 we find

Thanks. I have confirmed on a third cosmic machine the same bug in
3.30.1-2ubuntu1.18.10.1 :(
However, when I apply the above patch to gnome-shell git (either master
or gnome-3-30 branches), there is no bug at all. The patch works fine in
my own local builds from git.

I'm seeing this same issue. The dock disappears after the machine turns
off the monitor after 5 minutes of inactivity. I don't have hibernate or
suspend enabled. Per Daniel's suggestion, I ran gnome-tweaks and enabled
the Ubuntu Dock extension...
