[Bug 1811610] Re: latest strongswan update is broken in 18.10

2019-01-14 Thread Andreas Hasenack
If installing the package doesn't restore ipsec.conf, then it's because
it was removed outside the package's control, usually.

Could you check /var/log/apt/history.log to backtrack the packages you
installed and upgrade to see if there is a clear way to reproduce this
problem?

That being said, these error messages are intriguing:
modified.conffile..etc.ipsec.conf: [inaccessible: [Errno 13] Permission denied:
'/etc/ipsec.conf']
modified.conffile..etc.ipsec.secrets: [inaccessible: [Errno 13] Permission
denied: '/etc/ipsec.secrets']

That means at least at the time the bug was reported, the file existed.

[Bug 1811554] Re: bind9 slow response after netplan apply

2019-01-14 Thread Andreas Hasenack
What does /etc/resolv.conf look like? Is it using bind9 as the
nameserver, or systemd-resolve (127.0.0.53)? You might not even be using
bind9 directly, but via systemd-resolve, so that changes how this should
be debugged.

Hello Timo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mesa into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at

fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in

[Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

2019-01-14 Thread Alberto Milone
Pe4enko: Here is your problem:

NVRM: API mismatch: the client has the version 410.66, but
NVRM: this kernel module has the version 390.87. Please
NVRM: make sure that this kernel module and all NVIDIA driver
NVRM: components have the same version.

It looks like you installed the 410.66 driver (maybe using the installer
from Nvidia's website), and then tried to install the 390 driver from
the Ubuntu archive. This is not going to work. Please uninstall the
nvidia packages (sudo apt-get remove --purge '*nvidia*') and then use
the Nvidia installer to uninstall the other driver.

dropped the feature.

[Bug 1804847] Re: systemd=229-4ubuntu21.8 use of fchownat failes on some systems (openvz)

2019-01-14 Thread Andreas Kar
Please forgive me if I don't get overall picture correctly because I'm
not a professional in kernel development. Moreover I have no insights
what is going on with the systemd changes and who is actually affected
and why I'm affected. In the Armbian forums is stated that the problem
originates in Ubuntu so I decided to share my information here.

I just see right now that I'm limited to either upgrade the Ubuntu
revision (reinstall my machine) or hold systemd updates on a revision
not facing the issue. I would really appreciate more information if this
will ever get fixed again or what options we have in the long run to
surpass the issue because I doesn't sound that the problem will ever be
fixed again. Sorry again for my stupid question but there might be more
people affected with the same problem who probably want to know a
resolution.

[Bug 1787460] Re: Unattended upgrades removed linux-image-generic

2019-01-14 Thread Julian Andres Klode
** Description changed:

- On a fairly fresh install of 18.04 with no modifications whatsoever to
- the unattended-upgrades configuration, it decided to remove linux-image-
- generic which also removed linux-modules-extra which caused sound
- drivers to disappear, etc.
+ [Impact]
+ If a user accidentally removed linux-generic, unattended-upgrades will also
autoremove linux-image-generic, leaving them without kernel upgrades.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Remove all reverse dependencies of linux-image-generic
+ 2. Mark linux-image-generic as automatically installed
+ 3. Run unattended-upgrades -v --dry-run --debug to ensure that
linux-image-generic is not removed (after verifying that it is, with old apt)
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ This adds two regular expressions to the list of packages that must not be
automatically removed. As such, the only possible regression is that some
packages starting with linux-image, not containing any dots, are not removed
+
+ [Original bug report]
+ On a fairly fresh install of 18.04 with no modifications whatsoever to the
unattended-upgrades configuration, it decided to remove linux-image-generic
which also removed linux-modules-extra which caused sound drivers to disappear,

[Bug 1811692] [NEW] udev coldplug will interrupt makedumpfile

2019-01-14 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Public bug reported:

After introducing the udev rules to restart kdump-tools service when
there is memory or cpu hotplug, it will be restarted during coldplug as
well. This will cause the dump capture itself to be interrupted after a
crash. When it is restarted and tries to dump again, it will find an
existing dump file and will fail to dump.

My proposed solution is to use a different systemd service for the real
capture.

[Bug 1771185] Re: Secondary monitor not connecting in 18.04 LTS

2019-01-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Could those having this issue add their journalctl log from a session
where they try to connect the other monitor? And also give details of
the video cards/drivers you use and what screen are connected and using
what ports/adaptors/etc?

Salut Sebastien

It happens on a dual GPU ( nvidia 1080 ti) ( threadripper CPU thus NO
other GPU)

Getting the systemd log now.

Still no way to upload files using ubuntu-bug on a command line system (
without logging with a browser ) or do you see a simple way to grab all
log files using command line only ?

you try to downgrade the packages to see if that resolves your issue?
The most recent security update includes fixes for journal and tmpfile
error, that shouldn't have an impact on the ssh service and there has
been no other report about that...

[Bug 1799293] Re: Locking the screen once leaves screen contents visible but not interactive. Locking the screen a second time works.

2019-01-14 Thread Gabriel C.
@hjwp2, For most folk I do believe Super+L twice is sufficient but it
isn't a full workaround. While it does suspend the machine, it doesn't
prevent the thing folks are fussing about: If someone wakes up your
machine the UI is still bugged, so a random citizen is still able to
interact with the docks (so they can run any script you have in your
dock). That and... maybe you don't want to suspend your machine. How
big of a deal these are is... relative.

[Bug 1811580] Re: systemd fails to start sshd at reboot

2019-01-14 Thread Andreas Kar
This problem is not new and it appears again with the new systemd
"229-4ubuntu21.15" released.

See also these bug reports which somehow relate to the issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1804847
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1804603

As I'm no Linux pro I can't tell how these issues relate to each other
but they definitely do. I don't quite understand why this issue was
strictly focused on OpenVZ and then neglected because it definitely is
not only OpenVZ related.

I didn't face the issue in systemd versions https://forum.armbian.com/topic/8852-ssh-doesnt-work-on-
orange-pi-zero/

Moreover it doesn't only affect SSH but rather many other services
because from what I understand some directories aren't created on
startup, because of some system-tmpfiles changes. Here is the output of
journalctl -b 0 -u systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service

Jän 14 11:01:51 xxx systemd[1]: Starting Create Volatile Files and

Jän 14 11:01:51 xxx systemd[1]: systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service: Failed with

In my case the following service won't start because of the systemd
update. I'm no facing the exact same issue / behaviour like in
systemd-229-4ubuntu21.9. Same service are affected, same errors.

# dnsmasq.serviceloaded failed failed dnsmasq - A
lightweight DHCP and caching DNS server
# lighttpd.service loaded failed failed Lighttpd Daemon
# openvpn@server.service loaded failed failed OpenVPN connection to
server
# ssh.serviceloaded failed failed OpenBSD Secure Shell
server
# systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service loaded failed failed Create Static Device
Nodes in /dev
# systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service loaded failed failed Create Volatile Files
and Directories

I can't tell why this happens and this is everything on information I can
provide. I would also provide you more info if you tell me what you need. I can
rollback to a version <21.9 or >21.9 and <21.15 and everything will work again.
But TBH I don't want to mark systemd on hold for too long. Maybe some sort of
temporary fix other then rolling back would be fantastic...

[Bug 1804847] Re: systemd=229-4ubuntu21.8 use of fchownat failes on some systems (openvz)

2019-01-14 Thread Andreas Kar
Hello Seth as I'm also facing a similar issue which is also related to
this bug I'm now posting to this bug report as it has the highest heat
concerning issues with systemd and systemd-tmpfiles (service do not
start correctly). I don't think this is exclusively related to OpenVZ
because I'm also affected I don't use OpenVZ.

I have collected a few reports which also relate to the systemd changes
which result in services not starting on boot up:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1811580
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1804603
https://forum.armbian.com/topic/8852-ssh-doesnt-work-on-orange-pi-zero/

I'm on Armbian on an OrangePI One and I'm also affected by services that
won't start anymore. The same was the case with systemd-229-4ubuntu21.9
and now with 229-4ubuntu21.15. All other systemd version did work
without any issues. For the sake of completeness I will now also attach
my system information and terminal output which relates to the issue.

Should I used apic=debug with or without noapic?

[Bug 1811702] [NEW] mpv: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopencv_core.so.3.2: undefined symbol: _ZN3tbb10interface78internal15task_arena_base21internal_current_slotEv

2019-01-14 Thread Hans109h
Public bug reported:

mpv is set as the default video player. When double clicking on a video
file in either Nautilus or Nemo the action fails with the following
error:

mpv: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libopencv_core.so.3.2: undefined symbol:
_ZN3tbb10interface78internal15task_arena_base21internal_current_slotEv

In the past this same action has resulted in mpv opening and playing the
video.

To recreate this error I open a file manager and double click a video
file.

opening mpv from the command line using "mpv nameofvideo.avi" works
without failure.

[Bug 1805668] Re: Building armhf and arm64 Raspberry Pi 3 images

2019-01-14 Thread Adam Smith
The config.txt generated by livecd-rootfs will not work on arm64 and the
fdt address conflicts with the bootscript address used with the pi3.
The beta image may boot okay, but that is only because so many mistakes
have been made across the pi packages that somehow, miraculously, it
actually works. Works as intended? Definitely not. Or at least I hope
not.

[Bug 1811610] Re: latest strongswan update is broken in 18.10

2019-01-14 Thread heynnema
I checked /var/log/apt/history.log and /var/log/apt/history.log.1.gz and
only found references to when I tried to reinstall strongswan-
starter_5.6.3-1ubuntu4.1_amd64.deb on Jan 13. I had tried Synaptic, and
the .deb file downloaded from packages.ubuntu.com. Neither reinstalled
the missing /etc/ipsec.conf file.

As far as I know strongswan/ipsec was running fine, as I monitor syslog
closely. And it wasn't until the current updates that I saw it was
broken. If /etc/ipsec.conf WAS missing, wouldn't a reinstall replace the
missing file?

I missed the permissions messages. After manually restoring
/etc/ipsec.conf from the .deb file, I set the permissions to 600,
similar to the existing /etc/ipsec.secrets. I guess that must be wrong.
I just changed them both to 644, similar to other files in /etc/ipsec.d.

If you need more information, please feel free to ask.

I forgot to mention... when I submitted the bug report, I had already
manually restored /etc/ipsec.conf, so that's why it found that file.

[Bug 1797581] Re: Composing a VM in MAAS with exactly 2048 MB RAM causes the VM to kernel panic

2019-01-14 Thread Thiago Martins
I'm also facing this problem.

My workaround is to compose VMs using Virt-Manager, Firmware = UEFI for
the VM and then, refreshing the MaaS Pod.

There is a need to install ovmf

sudo apt install ovmf

On MaaS Pod.

Then, no more Kernel Panic!

duplicate the issue on wireless networks, only Ethernet (but the issue
is the same whether I use the onboard Ethernet or a USB Ethernet

[Bug 1811706] [NEW] eval: en: not found

2019-01-14 Thread CodeExecution
Public bug reported:

I tried to create a minimal Ubuntu bionic arm64 installation using
debootstrap that I would use to create a bootable Kubuntu 18.04 image
for the Pi 3, but debootstrap seems to fail to configure keyboard-
configuration, and therefore fails to install the Ubuntu base. Looking
into the debootstrap logs, I get the error "eval: en: not found". I've
searched Google for solutions but found nothing relevant.

[Bug 1807375]

2019-01-14 Thread vasthusya
Created attachment 280459
Kernel messages from various boot states.

Yes, the coldboot lmp_subver=8221 & hci_rev=c are correct and Bluetooth
works on vanilla kernel.

Unfortunately, I must restart the computer in order to gain CPU clock boost on
my Ryzen 5 2500u.
Separate issue, haven't checked around here for that bug yet.
