The microcode packages are separate from linux-firmware, however looking
quickly at the initramfs hooks which generate those messages it appears
you must have some very old kernels installed, older than 3.10. The
messages themselves are nothing to be too worried about though, it just
means that
I notice that if I use the mouse to deactivate the screen saver, I do
still see the screen shield, so that appears to be working normally.
When the shield lifts, I get the "login screen without login widget"
described above.

@vanugt I fail to see how bug 1789523 could be a duplicate since I have
shown that ssh-agent is running and working. It just fails to call ssh-
askpass in some cases.
