[Bug 1837833] Re: EBS Volumes get stuck detaching from AWS instances
Hello @johannes-wuerbach Thanks for the suggestion. I had a look at the patch you suggested: commit 2181e455612a8db2761eabbf126640552a451e96 Author: Anton Eidelman Date: Thu Jun 20 08:48:10 2019 +0200 subject: nvme: fix possible io failures when removing multipathed ns The patch was backported to 5.2.3, 5.1.20 and 4.19.61, so I went and tested it. I did a quick test by booting mainline 5.2.2, reproduced the issue, and then installed 5.2.3. I was able to reproduce the issue again, suggesting that this commit does not fix the issue. I then tried the latest 5.2.8, and also reproduced the issue. Just to be sure, I backported the commit to 4.15.0-58-generic, and tested again: You can find the test kernel here: https://launchpad.net/~mruffell/+archive/ubuntu/sf234512-test I was also able to reproduce the issue, and I am confident that this commit does nothing for this particular problem. Thanks for the suggestion! But in this particular case that commit is not the answer. I have opened a ticket with AWS, and they have confirmed that they know about the problem and have developed a fix for their cloud platform. It is currently being deployed, and deployment will take a few weeks to complete. You might have been lucky and received a patched cloud machine at the same time 4.19.61 came out, or it fixed another unrelated issue that had the same symptoms. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1837833 Title: EBS Volumes get stuck detaching from AWS instances To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1837833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Melissa I'll firstly provide the following official wiki page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CleanUpgrade The error message mentions the tool `ppa-purge` which is probably easiest if you read a support site like https://askubuntu.com/questions/307/how-can-ppas-be-removed, though other Ubuntu wiki pages have examples too - - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/BackportsPPA - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/HowTo/UpgradeGnomeShell You'll have to know the names of the PPAs you added; looking in your sources, or `history` can provide clues. [Bug 1838133] Re: realtek r8822be kernel module fails after update to linux kernel-headers 5.0.0-21
I have a lack of experience dealing with kernel modules, so I know there was a much easier way to build and test the module by itself, but I took the long route and it seems like a success. Grabbed source for Ubuntu kernel package 5.0.0-25. Output mentioned patches to 5.0.0-25.26, if that means anything. Blacklisted r8822be, patched rtw88 with the requested patch, built everything, checked lsmod and see rtwpci/rtw88 instead of r8822be as intended, and wifi seems to be working! Only weird thing is when I built the kernel it started calling it version 5.0.18. I'm not really sure how kernel build versioning works, so let me know if I did something wrong. As a verification I ran update-initramfs against 5.0.0-25-generic (no rtw88 patch) to apply the blacklist r8822be rule, loaded it, checked that it's using rtwpci/rtw88, and I get no wifi as expected. Another validation would be great, but it looks promising to me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1838133 Title: realtek r8822be kernel module fails after update to linux kernel- headers 5.0.0-21 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1838133/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1840382] [NEW] 18.04 version should be backported to 0.63
Public bug reported: Package libcryptx-perl in Ubuntu 18.04 has version 0.056-1 from universe. This package has a severe bug which was fixed with version 0.63. The bug causes issues with certain decryption. Therefore I would like to request backporting the version 0.63 to 18.04. I think the important change to get the decryption working was this one (taken from the release notes of libcryptx-perl): - improved CBC/ECB padding (using libtomcrypt's functions: padding_depad + padding_pad) ** Affects: libcryptx-perl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1840382 Title: 18.04 version should be backported to 0.63 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libcryptx-perl/+bug/1840382/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1826405] Re: Repeatedly "storage error [503 Inconsistent file state], last errno: File exists
Well, touch wood, something I've done has made things happier. I moved everything from the cache directory to a subfolder, made it inaccessible, removed apt lists from clients and ran apt-get update, then linked all the original cache files into _import and made acng reimport them. The first time I did this, it didn't seem to help. After the second time, so far, everything is OK. I also reinstalled the package and let it overwrite my config, but looking at the actual uncommented options in each version, they're basically identical. All very odd... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826405 Title: Repeatedly "storage error [503 Inconsistent file state], last errno: File exists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-cacher-ng/+bug/1826405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1826405] Re: Repeatedly "storage error [503 Inconsistent file state], last errno: File exists
I was seeing the dreaded "503 Inconsistent file state" talking to the canonical (sorry) package repositories. As I said, there are no explicit upstream proxies, but who knows what the ISP is doing (this would be a big argument in favour of running apt-get over https to my mind..) Anyway, at the moment after a cycles of intelligent nuking (trying to retain my cache contents while rebuilding it) things seem OK. I feel bad for not going into full-on debug mode and trying to get to the bottom of it, but I'm got a huge mountain of stuff to do and just needed this working so I could get on :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826405 Title: Repeatedly "storage error [503 Inconsistent file state], last errno: File exists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-cacher-ng/+bug/1826405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1840379] [NEW] Amule crashes almost every time a file is just terminated (ending its downloads).
Public bug reported: This is an old error which I've been suffering since Xubuntu 14.04 and with several packages of amule, using official ones, which may or may not be a SVN compilation. In this system, with a freshly install of Xubuntu 18.04 and installed from Universe repositories as version 1:2.3.2-2, behaves just the same as it behaved with a SVN version in 16.04. Not always, and without apparent indication of why, when a download ends (the file is at 100% and it is in the process of rebuilding the file) the error happens. You can continue, but it will appear again and again, until amule crashes and closes. You can check the "do not inform me of this error again" and then it continues and finally crashes. Mostly, you find the computer without amule running and checking the timestamp of its log file and the reported finishing time for the files in it, and the timestamps of the recent downloads, it appears that the error happens just the same as when you can see it (being watching the program): at the end of certain downloads.
