[Bug 1836858] Re: i915: Display flickers (monitor loses signal briefly) during "flickerfree" boot, while showing the BIOS logo on a black background
@vanvugt: Also tested Focal on the XPS 13 9360 now, it's flickering there. So the issue is fixed in Eoan but not in Focal. [Bug 1860181] [NEW] Cinnamon power preferences crashes
Public bug reported: Running Ubuntu 16.04.6 with both Unity & Cinnamon installed. When opening Cinnamon's settings, every time I click on the power management section, the window closes. Running cinnamon-settings from the command- line outputs the following: Could not find bluetooth module; is the cinnamon-control-center package installed? __init__ took 87.113 ms Loading Power module Segmentation fault (core dumped) Is cinnamon-control-center missing a dependency? Is there a specific bluetooth package that I need to manually install? Is this just a conflict with Unity that I have to learn to live with? I'd really like to configure my power settings with respect to monitor shutoff timing when idle, but I can't seem to do that from within Cinnamon. ** Affects: cinnamon-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860181 Title: Cinnamon power preferences crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cinnamon-control-center/+bug/1860181/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Okay thank you. I will let the scrub run to completion on kernel 4.15, then I will reboot back into 5.3 and scrub again and will allow it time to see what happens. [Bug 1858249] Re: gnome boxes doesn't autoinstall openSUSE tumbleweed
Comment # 5 on bug 1160025 from Ancor Gonzalez Sosa As I understand this, the Gnome Boxes included in Ubuntu ships an incorrect AutoYaST profile which contains a wrong language code and that does not fit the image it uses (the image provides several images but the profile doesn't specify which one to install). So this is a bug in Gnome Boxes or in Ubuntu. I don't see anything to be fixed in the openSUSE or AutoYaST side. AutoYaST is correctly reporting the two errors in the profile. https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1160025#c5 ** Bug watch added: bugzilla.suse.com/ #1160025 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1160025 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1858249 Title: gnome boxes doesn't autoinstall openSUSE tumbleweed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-boxes/+bug/1858249/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1860182] Re: zpool scrub malfunction after kernel upgrade
You original scrub took just under 4.5 hours. Have you let the second scrub run anywhere near that long? If not, start there. The new scrub code uses a two-phase approach. First it works through metadata determining what (on-disk) blocks to scrub. Second, it does the actual scrub. This allows ZFS to coalesce the blocks and do large, sequential reads in the second phase. This dramatically speeds up the total scrub time. In contrast, the original scrub code is doing a lot of small, random reads. You might just be seeing the first phase completing in 5 minutes, but the second phase still needs to occur. Or, maybe it did part of the first phase but hit the RAM limit and needed to start the second phase. If you've let it run for 4.5 hours and it's still showing that status, then I'd say something is wrong. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860182 Title: zpool scrub malfunction after kernel upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1860182/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1860192] [NEW] pip 19.0.0+ needs to be included with the 20.04 release
Public bug reported: Pip 19.0.0+ needs to be included with the 20.04 release. PEP 571 introduces the manylinux2010 platform tag, which was released with pip 19.0.0, which in turn is something many packages have already started explicitly depending on, notably including Tensorflow's latest two releases (https://www.tensorflow.org/install/pip). Pip 19.0.0 will be more than a year old at the time of release for 20.04, so it isn't to new either. I raise this issue because 19.04 and 19.10 are still on pip 18.x.y, which concerns me especially given that there's been enough time for it to perkelate into 19.10. Additionally, upgrading pip beyond the system included version is an absolute disaster, and saying that they can do so is an inadequate response. Pip 9 (included in 18.04) for a period included an incorrect error message encouraging users to self upgrade pip, and people trying to do so consistently broke so many installations that it created a massive debacle on github, and forced us to release a package removing the message. I believe this package maintainer (@Barry Warsaw) was a party to some of these threads. See https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/5346, https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/5447, and https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/5599. Sorry for putting this in a bug report, but I don't know where else to put it. ** Affects: python-pip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860192 Title: pip 19.0.0+ needs to be included with the 20.04 release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-pip/+bug/1860192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857398] Re: ubiquity should support encryption by default with zfsroot, with users able to opt in to running change-key after install
This is a very interesting idea, but care should be applied when combined with cloud (disk) images. In particular, I worry that if an encrypted disk image is distributed that the well-known passphrase could be used to get the master key from any pristine copy of the disk image. In effect, the master key becomes an open secret. Thus, any instance derived from this disk image would be fairly easy to read regardless of knowledge of the wrapping key. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857398 Title: ubiquity should support encryption by default with zfsroot, with users able to opt in to running change-key after install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1857398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
