Ok, so this is progress. Building against gnutls fixes the trust
pairing, but breaks file transfers. I rebuild the same source with
openssl vs gnutls and that's exactly what I see. With openssl I have to
re-pair every time I plug in but with gnutls, the file transfers don't
work.

Solved this on my testing Ubuntu 20.04 LTS VM by installing greeter from
MATE:

I addedd the new PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sergiodj/samba-bug1872476-v2
I updated
sudo apt-get update
I upgraded installing the new samba files.
But now it doesn't see the NAS.
If useful, in the beginning I created .smb/smb.conf with these lines:

I noticed today a difference between 20.04 native and 19.10 upgrade.
Upgrade : snapd snap have to be installed to install snap-store
(ubuntu-20.04 channel). Native : snapd snap is not installed. Don't
know if it's related.

UI. I suggest you report a bug against KDE but I don't know what's the
right component there. Also closing that one rather than reassigning
because a cleaner state report is probably going to be easier to read
and understand
As far as I understand, what you are seeing is upstream ticket #11736, that

Yes, issue is present on 2 systems running Xubuntu LTS 20.04. Another
system (18.04.4) has no problem accessing files as files on legacy NAS
running freenas vers 0.68.

Works fine using docker openjdk:14-jdk-buster. No idea this is built,
but they build it differently at the openjdk team.

As per summary, after dist-upgrading a 18.04LTS on the device, the trackpoint
and touchpad buttons stopped working.
Booting back with 5.3.0-40 has them working.
Fix this regression pls (and also add support for the microphone)
