[Bug 1877034] [NEW] desktop icons arrange feature missing
Public bug reported: with the new gnome 1. desktop content (icons/files) cannot be navigated/deleted/modified by keyboard 2. missing feature to have icons arranged on desktop 3. the bug that the icons get rearranged randomly when displays are changed together with point 2 makes the desktop unusable for my whole family. We have 6 computer running default ubuntu 18.04 and migrated to 20.04 - this seams to be a mistake now. I cannot express how harmful such small decision about icon removal is for anyone trying to use Ubuntu. [Bug 1876802] Re: Gnome (on Xorg) crashes when disconnecting external monitor
I did that as it was described in 994921, however nothing turned up. However, I did a clean re-install of my system (was on the brink of it already, ran into some config issues when moving to focal and decided that this LTS was a good moment). Now the problem seems to be gone (at least, it doesn't have a 100% reproduction rate anymore), so I guess we must conclude that this was a config issue on my system. Although it could very well still be a bug in the system of course. I'll report back if I run into the same issue again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876802 Title: Gnome (on Xorg) crashes when disconnecting external monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1876802/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1877032] [NEW] Unable to use Pango with ImageMagick

[Bug 1876974] Re: Support multiple ESPs
I ran 'grub-install', and expected both efi to be updated. It updates only the primary ESP. Both 'dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64' and running 'grub-multi-install' directly update both ESPs. So on the package updates part it looks like we are good to go. The part that I am missing, is making it somehow the default out of the box action for admins when updating efi on such systems. Here are some approaches to illustrate: - put grub-multi-install in the path at the very least, - use dpkg's alternatives to point grub-install at grub-multi-install or - wrap grub-install with a warning if multiple ESP's are present, - put a note somewhere where admins will be looking when trying to figure it out, such as on /boot/efi if the specs allow it -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876974 Title: Support multiple ESPs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1876974/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1866870] Re: KVM Guest pauses after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04
Hi Andreas, so the only upgrade you did to trigger this for you was to bump the kernel from 5.4.0-28.33 to 5.4.0-29.34 - nothing else? I have not (yet?) heard other similar reports, but it might be just too early? At least on my system for now things still work with the new kernel like before. I'd recommend filing a new bug, refer to this one as maybe being related and adding the following right away: - kernel version (you have this here I know) - qemu/libvirt/seabios/ovmf version (if you don't mind just attach `dpkg -l`) - guest XML (if using libvirt) otherwise the qemu command-line - add a cross check and report what happens with other guests configs (e.g. non windows, using another bios as the former issue was tied to seabios, use different guest CPU types) - the full /var/log/apt/history.log - a date when you last started the VM successfully (not just still-had-it-running, but started it) and the date when it started to fail (probably yesterday then I guess) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866870 Title: KVM Guest pauses after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1866870/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1876946] Re: gnome-shell freezing with "Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection." messages
In logs I have going back 6 months the errors "Attempting to run a JS callback during garbage collection." and "The offending callback was ..." only appear on one other date. There is a similar message "Attempting to call back into JSAPI during the sweeping phase of GC." that appears more frequently. I think it will be hard to get good timing data when the console is freezing and unresponsive and I'm not sure when the issue might re- occur. [Bug 1876230] Re: liburcu: Enable MEMBARRIER_CMD_PRIVATE_EXPEDITED to address performance problems with MEMBARRIER_CMD_SHARED
Answering question 2. I have done a comprehensive performance analysis based on the benchmark application. Note: The SRU changes how the sys_membarrier syscall is used. The implementation that we want to change to in this SRU never blocks, while the previous implementation does. This makes performance analysis entirely workload dependant. On busy servers with lots of background processes, sys_membarrier will block more often, compared to quiet servers with no background processes. The following is based on a quiet server with no background processes. [Bug 1877018] [NEW] Copy and Paste does not paste a clean path anymore
Public bug reported: Since Ubuntu 19.04, 19.10 and now 20.04 the copy-and-paste is not working properly. WHAT I WANT TO DO: Copy a file/folder with Ctrl+C (in nautilus) then paste the path into the terminal/text file. This was the nicest and most-used feature. I use that all the time. Now since some time ago, it does not work anymore. WHAT HAPPENS: The text being pasted has some extra info in front of the path. EXAMPLE: Ctrl+C with the ~/Downloads folder focused should yeild the path /home/lheck/Downloads Now, it gives me this: x-special/nautilus-clipboard copy file:///home/lheck/Downloads This text is useless when pasted. [Bug 1874519] Re: ZFS installation on Raspberry Pi is problematic
I think it used to be the case that zfsutils-linux depended on zfs-dkms which was then provided by the kernel packages. That seems like a way to solve this. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.
