[Bug 1878340] [NEW] Backing device unattaches from caching device when hibernating into a swap file
Public bug reported: This behavior is very inconsistent. I'm using btrfs, which only recently received swap file support as of linux kernel version 5.0. I followed the directions to get a swap file working on btrfs, including using resume=swap_device and resume_offset=swap_file_offset. The physical offset was retrieved using this script: https://github.com/osandov /osandov-linux/blob/master/scripts/btrfs_map_physical.c. I then divided the physical offset by the page size to get the resume offset. At best, hibernating into a swap file only works the first time after creation. Every subsequent hibernation leads my system to boot as if it were not resuming. At worst, hibernating causes the backing device to unattach from the caching device, leading to an unbootable system. I then have to forcefully recreate the cache in order to fix it. I should also mention that at one point I think my filesystem became corrupted since there were quite a lot of missing files, including commands, that made my system unusable. I then had to reinstall the whole system. ** Affects: bcache-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Backing device unattaches from caching device when hibernating into a swapfile + Backing device unattaches from caching device when hibernating into a swap file -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878340 Title: Backing device unattaches from caching device when hibernating into a swap file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcache-tools/+bug/1878340/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1878336] Re: the pcmanfm-qt crashes on an inexistant image background
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I had a fresh groovy install running (QA-test on first boot) and confirmed the issue on that box, so it impacts groovy too. I see no evidence of a crash (step 5); no crash dump in /var/crash/, lxqt-panel still operates normally, however htop shows (`ps -elf` output) 0 R guiverc 11141039 9 80 0 - 347758 - 15:48 ? 00:03:56 /usr/bin/pcmanfm-qt --desktop --profile=lxqt hovers around 100%, desktop preferences window is still on my display and can be dragged around, but it's contents are whatever window last covered it, and it's unusable. I can use `firefox` to enter this detail correctly, qterminal & other apps start & operate fine from menu (but NOT pcmanfm-qt; it remains at ~100% cpu looping..). A bug yes, but should I have suggested pcmanfm-qt? [Bug 1847721] Re: Always create the ESP
Had a stare at this. partman-efi mostly disables itself if not booted under EFI (https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman- efi/tree/init.d/efi?h=ubuntu/groovy#n15), I think that's why the partition type doesn't get set and why the partition doesn't get formatted. I'm not sure what the consequence of simply not checking that would be. Also, I think grub-installer needs to grow a way to override archdetect (maybe just ARCH="${ARCH:-$(archdetect)}" or whatever) and ubiquity needs to call it twice. [Bug 1868117] Re: [snap] Adapt chromium user agent to avoid "not supported browser"
I think everyone agrees that the 'Chromium/' part is the main problem. The snap also adds 'snap', which is an additional problem, but only removing 'snap' wouldn't help. The deb version adds 'Ubuntu' in the OS part, which the snap does not. I'm unsure if that is much of a problem. Firefox on Ubuntu also adds 'Ubuntu' after 'X11', and that doesn't seem to break many things. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868117 Title: [snap] Adapt chromium user agent to avoid "not supported browser" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1868117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1878340] Re: Backing device unattaches from caching device when hibernating into a swap file
** Description changed: This behavior is very inconsistent. I then have to - forcefully recreate the cache in order to fix it. + forcefully recreate the cache in order to fix it. I should also mention + that at one point I think my filesystem became corrupted since there + were quite a lot of missing files, including commands, that made my + system unusable. [Bug 1878355] [NEW] TV monitor shows login information, not selected displays
Public bug reported: My setup: office with two screens and a long cable to a TV screen in the next room. The TV screen is off. Error: Upon starting ubuntu, GDM shows only blank screens. When the TV is unplugged, I can see the GDM login screen. Moving mouse pointer to one of the screens in my office does when the TV screen is plugged in does not reveal the login screen. Expected behavior: To see the login prompt. Either duplicated on all screens, or on the screen the mouse points at. First try at a solution: Remove TV screen, see login screen, login, plug in TV screen, select screen layout in the settings manager so one of the office screens is main. Outcome: does nothing. Current solution: Copy setting's monitor.xml to replace GDM's monitor.xml. This now works for me so I do not want to play with this anymore, but I suspect it will fail again at some point since this manual copy-pasting of files is just weird. There are plenty of components involved in "trying" to fix this by spice upstream. The discussion in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/spice/linux/vd_agent/-/issues/9 is rather long. It eventually seems to be fixed in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/spice/linux/vd_agent/-/merge_requests/4 I think we have all components in place, except the spice-vdagent 0.20 and maybe spice-protocol 14.1. The series of fixes for spcie-vdagent linked there would be: e0bfa67 configure: bump gtk+ >= 3.22 2c72378 clipboard: remove vdagent-selection-id usage 79d0125 configure: depend on gobject ff30f58 configure: bump gobject >= 2.50 fb69a49 vdagent: use G_OPTION_FLAG_NONE aa26d1d clipboard: gobject-ify VDAgentClipboards 2ad6c15 clipboard: filter out only our own events c9e8067 clipboard: only send release when no immediate grab a2fc33c clipboard: implement CAP_CLIPBOARD_GRAB_SERIAL >From https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/spice/linux/vd_agent.git Our libglib2.0-dev and libgtk-3-dev are new enough as well. But spice-protocol needs: 045a6978 vdagent: introduce VD_AGENT_CAP_CLIPBOARD_GRAB_SERIAL 4f397d69 vdagent: introduce VD_AGENT_CAP_CLIPBOARD_NO_RELEASE_ON_REGRAB That is in 0.14.1 which only is in Ubuntu 20.10 already, but not in Focal (14.0 there). I'd expect that 0.20 would not even build without spice-protocol 0.14.1 since the definition of VD_AGENT_CAP_CLIPBOARD_GRAB_SERIAL is missing. Well it might skip it safely. But the report of lwk32 says building 0.20 is fixing his issue, so let us give it a try. We cant take: a2fc33c clipboard: implement CAP_CLIPBOARD_GRAB_SERIAL c9e8067 clipboard: only send release when no immediate grab without this change to spice-protocol which is hard to SRU. The rest of the patches applies cleanly, but I'm unsure if there can be any gain without these final commits. @lwk32 would you mind giving the PPA [1] a try with an otherwise unmodified Ubuntu 20.04 if that fixes the issue for you as well? P.S. We might want to wait until the more clear fix in bug 1852183 lands to not mix results of verifications of -proposed - but we can sniff things right now based on the PPA. [Bug 1876876] Re: SRU tracking bug for plasma 5.18.5 in Focal
Packages landing from https://bileto.ubuntu.com/#/ticket/4059 ** Description changed: SRU tracking bug for KDE's Plasma 5.18.5 LTS for Focal Official release announcement by the KDE community: https://www.kde.org/announcements/plasma-5.18.5.php Complete changelog (excludes translation updates): https://www.kde.org/announcements/plasma-5.18.4-5.18.5-changelog.php + + Bileto ticket: https://bileto.ubuntu.com/#/ticket/4059 This time due to the small upstream list of packages with bugfixes, I am cherry-picking only 11 sources to SRU. drkonqi kinfocenter kwin milou plasma-browser-integration plasma-desktop plasma-discover plasma-pa plasma-vault plasma-workspace xdg-desktop-portal-kde + + Other packages contain only some compilation fixes for some versions of + frameworks that we do not use, so these are not included at this time. [Impact] * Without this update, general users who are not inclined or able to add our backports/update ppa will not receive this bugfix release of the Plasma 5.18 LTS series * Providing this bugfix release via the official update pocket in the archive will ensure that the bugfixes here reach and benefit most of our users. This is particularly important for a Kubuntu and Plasma LTS release [Test Case] * General tests: - Does plasma desktop start as normal with no apparent regressions over 5.18.5? - General workflow - testers should carry out their normal tasks, using the plasma features they normally do, and test common subsystems such as audio, settings changes, compositing, desktop affects, suspend etc. * Specific tests: - Check the changelog: - Identify items with front/user facing changes capable of specific testing. e.g. "[weather] Fix weather Notices tab not showing." - Test the 'fixed' functionality. [Regression Potential] * These updates fix some obvious front facing issues, but may also include some underlying code fixes. - e.g. changes for compilation under Qt versions we do not ship yet, code optimizations and fixes with less obvious explanation of impact in the changelog, * Fixes for obvious and testable bugs and regressions can also introduce unintended other regressions in either the feature/app being fixed, or desktop components or subsystems that interact with it. So it is important in these updates to consider: * General testing - does the desktop as a whole, and routine use of such work as previously with no obvious regressions over the previous release. * If there is say a fix for the audio applet to fix one issue, in addition to fixing that issue, do the other common features of that app still work as before, do the general audio settings still work? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876876 Title: SRU tracking bug for plasma 5.18.5 in Focal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/drkonqi/+bug/1876876/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1878321] Re: TP-Link UE300 [2357:0601]: Kernel workqueue rtl_work_func_t [r8152] gets stuck, preventing network connectivity: Bad RIP value
Hi, does focal kernel works for you? You can install kernels from focal by following steps: $ echo "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ focal-updates main" | \ sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/focal.list $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt install linux-modules-extra-5.4.0-29-generic/focal-updates Then reboot and select this kernel in grub menu. I'm suspecting this should be fixed by commit 5b1d9c17a3e0("r8152: avoid to call napi_disable twice") and commit 84811412464d("r8152: Re-order napi_disable in rtl8152_close"), which are in v5.4 kernel and above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878321 Title: TP-Link UE300 [2357:0601]: Kernel workqueue rtl_work_func_t [r8152] gets stuck, preventing network connectivity: Bad RIP value To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1878321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
